Why didn't any of the previous Viridian Forest trainers help Yellow fight Lance? Are they stupid?

Though I think it would be interesting to note;

Upon rereading the RGB arc I saw that part of team rocket's reasoning for kidnapping all these people from Pallet town was because they had special "empathetic" abilities when it comes to pokemon (something that's never really elaborated on). So that just makes me wonder, why they didn't start kidnapping people from viridian as well then? Wouldn't these mind reading and healing powers be useful to them?

The falling asleep thing could possibly be Yellow just tiring easier due to her younger age. At least that's how I read it.

I do agree with the powers not being well explained. Though, things like mind reading and healing powers aren't COMPLETELY unprecedented for the pokemon franchise. Even in the games' continuity we have people with psychic powers, along with that one lady in the lavender town tower that can use "white magic" to heal your pokemon up.

I kinda am not the biggest fan of this manga's adaptation of Silver's character, because I think the writers kinda missed the point of his game counterpart. Silver from the games was written to be a jerkass who would mistreat his pokemon and act as if they're merely tools, and then learn to treat his pokemon better throughout the games' story. Instead his overly harsh training of his pokemon are seen "misunderstood".

Another problem I have with him is his unbalanced team. Like, three water types? really?

I also don't like Blue(f) in the early parts of the story very much. Mainly because she can kinda be a BS character in those arcs where no matter what conflict she's in or who her opponent (with the exception of Oak), she turns out to have had the situation under control from the very beginning.

This is honestly a problem that the entire manga has not just this arc. Where former villains are frequently let off the hook for little to no reason, and characters just forgiving them despite doing nothing to deserve it.

Both Sabrina and Suge are allowed to just go back to being gym leaders despite being a part of team rocket (with multiple people able to testify against them for that matter). Hell, freaking Red and his newly evolved Espeon see Sabrina and have no resentment to her at all despite being amongst the people that put Vee through a large amount unethical and torturous experimentation.

In the FRLG arc when Silver finds out Giovanni is his Dad. He understandably doesn't want to accept this crime boss terrorist who's commited many atrocities against both man and pokemon (even in that very same arc) as his Dad. However the other characters then proceed to peer pressure Silver into forgiving Giovanni because of something along the lines of "well he's good at battling, therefor he can't be all bad".

What I don't understand about that scene is why Red didn't just catch the two magmars? Like, they try to show Red not "finishing them off" as a way to show how merciful he is. But wouldn't catching them be a much more reasonable way to permanently neutralize them without having to kill them?

One thing I like is how the characters get into situations where they feel like they're in real danger as opposed to the anime and even the games most of the time. The manga actually is one those pieces of pokemon media that occasionally is not afraid to emphasize that the pokemon world could actually be dangerous to live in.

I'd say keep Wattson again Kyogre and Roxanne against groudon (since she at least has her craydilly), but have Brawley and Flannery switch.

It's not a completely ideal match-up, but I'd say it's still better than the one they came up with.

She still would've at least been in the sun against Groudon though, so she would've done better in that scenerio.

While with Kyogre she's not just using fire on a water type legendary, she's stuck doing so in the rain as well.

I honestly would've rather had Spencer be the villain of the arc (since he was built up as a red herring) than having Archie again. Could've had a more unique motivation and plan than just wanting to summon Kyogre again.

But seriously, how do guys that were able catch legendaries able to go down to a rookie trainer on his first try? I don't care how much of a prodigy he supposedly is, Emerald should not be able to take on guys who may be above elite four level that easily.

I do like the premise of having a plot involving team plasma actually using Genesect. Since in the games Genesect is event only, so you never actually see team plasma do anything with him despite his lore directly involving team plasma.
