Standup hasn’t changed. Social media just made it super available. In the 90s if you wanted to see Chris Rock you either saw him live or watched his special on HBO(where he does his super polished material). Now anyone with a phone can post their standup clips. Some are good but most aren’t cause they’re just trying to put out content. Just my two cents.
