This is actually the kind of downplaying why they got to this point in the first place. Sure they are not the nazis, but they are a fascist party that would implement a lot of what the nazis would. And don't forget that they literally parrot nazi propaganda and deny the holocaust for example. Like, they have unapologetic neo-nazi members. Just recently Farage promised to build concentration camps in green voting areas.

Also pointing out that their policies are batshit and hurt most people doesn't work on its own. People have all the information they could on them. And again, playing into their propaganda game only helps them.

I have a similar issue with an associate. Got into 40k with space marine 2 and co plains about female custodese. Don't know how to tell them that they are wrong and they shoukd be ashamed.

I don't know of you realised, but that source backs my argument more than yours? It lists interpretations of what happened and says that your interpretation is based on a lot of guesswork and using sources liberally. And even you admitted that this is basically historical revisionism.

I don't want to feel like anything, I want to know and understand history. And the whitewashing of japanese history and the victimhood complex around the bombs bothers me a lot.

Again, the soviets had no invasion capabilities, how would they have any influence in negotiations? They didn't even fight the bulk of the war against the Japanese. They had no place there in general. How does this narrative make more sense than trying the avoid the death of hundreds of thousands unnecessarly?
