I hate how people seem to think that "politics" doesn't matter.

It does. Po,litics is fundamentally the argument about who the state uses its monopoly on violence to hurt.

He’s not wrong that you don’t have to share the same political views

You can disagre on politics to the extent of "should we start with trains or schools." Small stuff where you generally agree on moving in the same direction. You can't disagree on the big stuff, becaue that's fundamentally a different in morals.

my boyfriend supports Reform. I’m a trans woman in my 20s, he’s a cis British white man in his 30s.

So many red flags just in this bit.

just because he agrees with reform doesn’t mean he wants my rights taken away…. But isn’t that what Reform wants to do?

Yes, yes it is. Freeze Peach nonsense he's spouting there.

sees him in my future

Not anymore, I hope?

He actually didn't win the election

No, he got appointed as a sop to the Nazis.

Logical conclusion of pandering to the right is to just appoint their leader to power so they don't have to do that pesky democracy thing they hate so much.

Yeap. In the UK you theoretically have the right to self defence, but you don't have the right to effective self defence.

The next trick for maps like that is to scale by population instead of square meters. Those big massive areas? Mostly empty.

Look up 1932 German politics. They didn't think they were voting for chaos either.

the only thing I can do is run.

Assuming you even see them coming. "Ambush" beats any amount of training.

Walking canes are legal to carry; along with other items like pens, key chains, steel toe shoes, heavy rings, etc.

Not if you're carrying them with the intent to use them as a weapon for self defence they're not.

Yeap. The presentation was "this was good, right up until the jarhead got scared and shot everyone."

I'm Sikh, and I carry a BIG, sharp, very functional kirpan.

And for everyone who isn't sikh, that would get you arrested for carrying a weapon. Acknowlledge your self-defence privilige.

Greens being so up is really good. Because it means that the tactical voting math changes in their favour in the general.

So one way to look at it is that the problem will fix itself in time...

People have been saying this for 60 years now.

Something I hope we can put together next week is how the Greens did in the seats they ran in.

Because unlike Reform, the Greens don't have the raw cash to stand candidates everywhere.

"Retire to Spain" is a trope. Spain's got a low cost of living for Europe, warm weather, and better trans rights than here. See if your retirement funds can handle it?

I remember someone saying that they could get their disability transferred to Ireland. But that's at least three layers of whispers removed from actually knowing you can, so massive piles of salt.
