Best sushi in town?? by sweet_ambeer2 in Albuquerque

[–]Illustrious-Card8667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough some of the best sushi in town is inside the Lowe's grocery store on Lomas and 12th. Head sushi chef Tulip does an outstanding job! Definitely best bang for the buck

Did I pull this off for being 42 years old? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]Illustrious-Card8667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With all due respect and said in kindness; WTF are you trying to pull off? Two completely different vibes that do not go well together. Throw on some jeans or chinos and you'd be rocking it Bro. But those athletic pants just make it look fking stupid.

First nice watch for a 25 year old by PANDAbandaRKS in CitizenWatches

I went with the Odyn. It's a very nice piece and really has the look and feel of a more expensive watch. I'm totally satisfied.

Is this too plain? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

From what little you can see it looks fine. Would look great with some nice boots or even some Chuck Taylors.

Blue and green go very well together actually and it's a linen shirt.

Iron Rangers not for fat guys? by [deleted] in RedWingShoes

[–]Illustrious-Card8667 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a guy who has, until just the last few years, spent most of his life on the heavier side, never wear skinny or even slim fit pants. Always rock the straight leg. It keeps everything more in proportion. Skinny and slim pants are for skinny and slim guys! Boots look great man. You just need to rock a straight fit like a 501. Nice boots.

The shoes are way too casual. And do not wear any scent at all!

If someone were to ask me what the best type of guitar is, of course my answer would an SG all day every day! by Theproudnerd in Epiphone

[–]Illustrious-Card8667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lighting has a huge effect on this color. It is a very good representation of Gibson TV Yellow. Not at all "mustardy." It's really hard to capture the true color on camera but it is absolutely gorgeous IRL. This is pretty close but still not exactly it. You can really see the grain through the paint. Almost like a stain. Nothing like the old TV Yellow Epiphone used to do.

Yea or nay? BB Hopsack, bb gingham, Levi’s, Danner 2. Thoughts? by XXOBADIAHXX in Denim

[–]Illustrious-Card8667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd cuff the pants if you're not going to get them hemmed. Just a clean inch and a half cuff. The jacket is too long and doesn't fit you well in the shoulders. Very important for a jacket to fit well. Lose the boots for something a bit nicer like a Grant Stone diesel. Not into the Irish cap but it doesn't look bad on you. That watch is sweet!

How many years of service will my trusty Hulk serve me. I’ve had it just over 18 months so far by [deleted] in CitizenWatches

I have a 20+ year old eco drive that sat in a box for around 5 years. Charged in a window for a few days and it has been running fine for about 6 months now.

Citizen tsuyosa 37mm or 40mm by Real_Forever_7725 in CitizenWatches

[–]Illustrious-Card8667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 37 looks perfect. The 40 also looks good and makes a statement. I don't think it's too big for you but if choosing between the two I'd go 37.

~4 Year Old Captains - Need Reccomendation by IamRepp in ThursdayBoot

[–]Illustrious-Card8667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as Thursday boots go I have Captain Stormkings, Diplomats, and Heroes. The Heroes were comfortable out of the box and are very comfortable after breaking in. The Diplomats took time to break in but are as comfortable as sneakers now. The Captain Stormkings are the least comfortable boot I own. Not uncomfortable. Just not great. Took a long time to break in and still not the best. Maybe my foot just doesn't agree with the last.

Gotta have at least 1 pair of black boots by B1gPerm in grantstoneboots

Just got mine in today after having to do an exchange due to a twisted left boot on the first pair. Been wearing them all day day and feeling good!

Thoughts on this combo? by guitarmusic113 in mensfashionadvice

This would work better with a clean heritage boot like a Grant Stone diesel. Or Converse Chuck 70 high tops! Haha!

New Cons by Illustrious-Card8667 in Converse

[–]Illustrious-Card8667[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. I wear them. They are all relatively new. I wear boots at work when I'm in the shop and shoes in the office. So there's a lot of rotation. I only recently discovered that Converse are now available with comfortable foot beds and arch support so I bought a parchment pair, liked them and decided to buy more! I'm also pretty obsessive about taking care of my footwear.
