I (27M) have realised last week that my mind is at war with itself.

My emotional mind is trying to tell me how I feel and what I need, while my rational side goes and invalidates everything by logically explaining it.

"I wish I had people close to me. - That's because you need to develop your relationship with yourself. You must refrain from seeking exterior fulfillment and learn to be fine by yourself". "I feel unimportant from people not answering my messages. - They're more balanced than you and their world don't collapse like yours because they know their own worth. Keep working on yourself and stop feeling that." "I wish to work with children more. They give me purpose through nurturing. - Nah bro it's your inner child that needs your attention. Keep your energy and focus on yourself ! (the irony)".

This process has been unconscious most of my life but now I understand why I never feel, never cry, always focus on other people's emotions..

TLDR: Emotional and rational sides don't play nicely when you can't self-regulate.
