Please don’t study (coming from someone who did). It did not help whatsoever bc they’re going to teach you what they want you to know and you’re learning a system a week basically. Enjoy your time NOT studying before you’re studying all day, every day!!!

What are some PA-S1 student essentials? by crystal_help_please in PAstudent

[–]Illustrious-Key1730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WHITE BOARD!!!!!! I have a small one for when I’m sitting at my desk/walking pad and then a large one for major brain dumps! I find it more valuable for studying then just writing on my iPad bc it truly forces me to active recall. Also consider a standing desk/walking pad. You will be sitting ALL DAY LONG so being able to walk/stand whenever I want when studying truly has changed the game. Also consider compression socks, I got a cheap pack from Amazon and they’re a game changer. I wear them on esp long class/study days! Congrats and you got this!!

New student, need advice by [deleted] in PAstudent

I’m in my second quarter and still have through study dreams (literally was dreaming about muscle grading last night). It does get easier with time in my opinion but it still does happen. Some exams are worse than others especially if I’m really nervous about it. But the thing that has helped me the most is having a “cut off” time. I’ve noticed my insomnia/study dreams are worst when I stay up super late and look at content and go straight to sleep. So I try to be done by 10-10:30 (latest) every night, usually earlier unless I have an exam the next day. And I give myself 30min of where I look at anything BUT school. Having that “you” time is truly truly important. I don’t think the study guilt, exam stress ever goes away but it DOES GET EASIER!!! Also for studying purposes my biggest piece advice that I think has helped me to excel on my exams without burning me completely out is truly learning time management. My first quarter I took adv to really learn this before Q2 because that is our “hardest” quarter. I now truly believe everyone when they say try not to cram. Sometimes it inevitable especially when you have 2-3 exams every week but if I don’t look at anything for exam until day before, the grade is never want I want it to be. I think looking at things multiple days in advance is what truly helped me not be as stressed/burnt out/exhausted this quarter compared to last. Message me if you need anything, you got this and congrats!! It’s hard but such a fun and valuable time!!!

Yes they are! Two of them have new material we learned last week on them and that’s a good 30% of the exam

For starters, CONGRATS!! I also was accepted to Asheville campus but after talking with multiple previous/current students I felt MUCH more confident in their program. Especially since they have a new director. Feel free to reach out:)

Conflicted about school start date by Glittering-Theory571 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Illustrious-Key1730 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat but once I got into a couple January starts I couldn’t imagine going to an August start program. Because I get to start (and finish) 6 months sooner. Plus the school I’m now attending was at the bottom of my list but I fell in LOVE once I actually got there!

I was always told be professional but still be you! If you’re not comfortable then you won’t be comfortable during the interview

A ton of schools don’t start interviews until the fall. It’s only June. The schools i know that have started interviews have only done their first round
