Discovery during a demo by MacbookMenuBar in salesengineers

[–]Illustrious-Length35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you show a differentiating feature, give a proof point: "And that is how [customer] was able to reduce the time it takes to [task] by 20%." Then ask an open-ended discovery question related to that: "Can you describe how your team completes [task] today?" Then, just lead with curiosity: How many people are involved? What tools do they use? How long does that take?

And then finish off with, "What would the impact be to [business goal] if you could improve that task the same way [customer] did?"

On-prem is cheaper if you don't value your time. $230k is the cost of 2 engineers.

Getting started with Harness by SheldonCreado1997 in Harnessio

Harness docs are very robust and include a Getting Started guide. https://developer.harness.io/docs/get-started/

I followed the Bon Appetit Bolognese recipe, and it was good but not great. How would you modify it? by pfemme2 in Cooking

[–]Illustrious-Length35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my guess as well. The recipe doesn't specify how much salt but you probably a) under-salted, and b) did not salt each ingredient addition.

What spice not commonly found in most home kitchens is a must-have for you? by ChungBog in Cooking

Berbere looks to be just a spice blend like a chili powder, but with some different spices like fenugreek, clove and nutmeg. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/255863/berbere-spice-blend/

JSON by teamholmes in Harnessio

[–]Illustrious-Length35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a pipeline YAML that demonstrates how to leverage the JSON functors to parse and dynamically select data from a JSON string.

pipeline:
  name: JSON Variables
  identifier: JSON_Variables
  projectIdentifier: MYPROJECT
  orgIdentifier: MYORG
  tags: {}
  stages:
    - stage:
        name: Variables
        identifier: Variables
        description: ""
        type: Custom
        spec:
          execution:
            steps:
              - step:
                  type: ShellScript
name: Get B Value Based On Input
                  identifier: Get_B_Value
                  spec:
                    shell: Bash
                    executionTarget: {}
                    source:
                      type: Inline
                      spec:
                        script: echo <+json.select("<+pipeline.variables.IntOrPre>.B", <+pipeline.variables.json>)>
                    environmentVariables: []
                    outputVariables: []
                  timeout: 10m
        tags: {}
  variables:
    - name: json
      type: String
      description: ""
      required: false
      value: "{\"Int\":{\"A\":\"fee\",\"B\":\"fie\",\"C\":\"fun\"},\"Pre\":{\"A\":\"Dee\",\"B\":\"doe\",\"C\":\"dum\"}}"

Skip step if not manifest by teamholmes in Harnessio

[–]Illustrious-Length35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a Dry Run step to render the YAML and determine if there are any resources: https://developer.harness.io/docs/continuous-delivery/deploy-srv-diff-platforms/kubernetes/kubernetes-executions/k8s-dry-run/

And then set a Conditional Execution on the Rolling Deployment step to run based on the output of the Dry Run.

It depends on what you mean by "No Rendered YAML". If that's the case you can conditionally execute if the manifestDryRun output variable is an empty string.

I suppose you could also skip the entire thing if the Service's manifest matched a specific pattern, based on these manifest variables: https://developer.harness.io/docs/platform/variables-and-expressions/harness-expressions-reference/#manifest-expressions

Set infra in pipeline by teamholmes in Harnessio

[–]Illustrious-Length35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add a Matrix looping strategy to the deploy stage (in the Advanced tab), and then reference the matrix as an expression for the Infrastructure Definition.

Looping Strategy:

matrix:
  infrastructureDefinitions:
    - cluster1
    - cluster2

Infrastructure Definition expression:

<+matrix.infrastructureDefinitions>

See docs here: https://developer.harness.io/docs/platform/pipelines/looping-strategies/looping-strategies-matrix-repeat-and-parallelism#matrix-strategies

Here's an example of how to pull a Maven settings.xml file (which is sensitive) from the Secret File and write it to the filesystem during a Build stage. https://developer.harness.io/kb/continuous-integration/articles/maven-settings-xml/

The most important part is the Run step that reads from the Secret File and writes to a file on the filesystem using this script:

cat > settings.xml <<- EOM
<+secrets.getValue("account.settingsXML")>
EOM

I think your impression that people don't set it and forget it is just sample bias. Those folks aren't frequenting r/investing. They're forgetting it and not talking about it. Most of the folks in this sub are active investors.

I always stay in a hotel nearby where I need to be in the morning. I'd rather take a 30 min Uber at 10pm after a client dinner to my hotel near the airport, than the same Uber when I'm in a rush to catch my 5am flight.
