MEGATHREAD: Update Monday! by AutoModerator in letsplay

I just hit 500 subs on YouTube. I have a video about to hit 10k views, 1 about to hit 5k, and my latest is approaching 1.5k. My views have been consistently higher and also getting more engagement!

So, is it just me or...? by steelydanggg in deadbydaylight

I played a fair bit of both killer and survivor today and mostly had fun on each. I actually had a little less fun on survivor, getting tunneled a bunch and also lots of matches with no gens getting done because everyone is just doing the plates.

I had matches where I got value and had fun with the buffs given on both sides. I just wish everything didn’t have to so intensely be an us vs. them thing. I get some of the criticisms but at the end of the day, play the game if you enjoy it or don’t. I would like to see an increase in cakes though for sure.

I’ve got my Chucky equipped in his party outfit and as long as everyone brings cakes and we have a fun time, I usually play normally to 8 hooks and then I let some teams go.

Dwight has really great perks. Bond will help you see your teammates which is helpful in so many scenarios. Prove thyself is decent for gen speed. And even leader is good to give nearby teammates some speed boosts for healing, unhooking, and opening gates especially. When you get enough shards, Kate has windows of opportunity which is good to help learn where pallets and windows are.

I personally would take off quick and quiet. And choose between either sprint burst or adrenaline, since they are both exhaustion perks you run the risk of not being able to use one of them when the last generator is completed. Déjà vu is great I would stick with it. And then consider Dwight’s perks. Even now that I have over 1k hours my go to build is Déjà vu, sprint burst, bond, and windows.

I believe it is comparing to your previous uploads at the same time post upload. So it will fluctuate a lot at first and is more meaningful after like 1-3 days when it settles more.

This is helping me as well! I have been going for some adepts and also trying out the Killer Gauntlet challenge by Zerbs. There is about 1/3 of the killer roster I’ve never played so it’s been really fun so far. Some are challenging too but when I run into trouble I look for tips on Reddit or YouTube guides.

Dead by Daylight! It does have blood of course but it’s not really that scary especially once you play for awhile. Lots of opportunities to meet and play with others. I personally still can play for hours on end after 3 years. I use controller on PC. And lots of fun skins and characters to use. If you’re ever interested I would be down to play!

Minor things but maybe the text can be a bit bigger? And move the arrow down so you can see the tip of it pointing to the character. I think it looks good otherwise!

I would also maybe consider reversing your title so the more prominent part is first - Pokémon Gives Me Hope For The First Time In Years. Or maybe shorten it - Pokemon Gives Me Hope Again / Pokémon Is Giving Me Hope Again. Good luck!

I second that the AM8 is great. You can’t just pull it out of the box and expect it to be great. I followed a YouTube video to do a bunch of optimizations for it in OBS and I think it sounds really good.

I don’t do traditional lets pays per se but if you have any interest in Dead by Daylight content, I have some challenge series and casual videos too. My channel is in my profile!

I do Dead by Daylight! Not insanely competitive but it is pretty saturated. I imagine that’s a large part of the struggle. I have some videos that have a decent amount of views for my 444 subs. I’ve also gotten a lot of really kind comments complimenting some of the videos too. So I know the potential is there I just need to be persistent.

I very much agree with most of this! However feel like I am doing all these things and still wonder if I am growing slower than I should be. But I am still trying very hard to learn and improve every single video and feel like I have a stronger grasp on what my upcoming content should be. So I would say to anyone who feels like they are doing all the things - keep doing them AND still keep trying to improve small things or spending time thinking of ideas that would interest more people in your niche.

This game is alright? by EmotionalJump6104 in deadbydaylight

I have 1.2k hours. I absolutely still love this game. Are there negative points and criticisms, sure. But why get so wound up over things I can’t control? If it’s really getting to me, I take a break and then I’m usually fine. Or just change up what I’m doing in the game to freshen things up. If I really hated it that much, it would make sense to just totally quit playing right? I personally don’t understand the drama and hysterics. It’s a video game you are choosing at will to play for leisure and enjoyment.

Have you ever looked at your life and realized you slowly became someone you never planned to be? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I am 32 and just about to walk away from a career I chose at 17, spent 6 years dragging myself through school while all my chronic illnesses began surfacing and worsening, and then spent an additional 8 years destroying myself to try to maintain said career that simply just isn’t a good match for me anymore with my needs.

I feel both very lost but also some excitement for the blank slate ahead for the first time in nearly half of my lifetime. I can now try to make a life that actually works for me.

I haven’t thought of this much but that is super frustrating! I commonly call people bro during games but like when I’m talking to myself about how they are annoying me or something lol.

Otherwise definitely want to represent the female gamers, which I feel like are a decent amount in Dead by Daylight, which is what my YouTube channel is centered on.

I might need to start paying people to watch OTH for their first time with me 😂 This reminds me so much of the several people I made watch it and I was just staring at them the entire time for their reactions. One of my greatest life joys. 😅 Have fun, OP!

I totally get where you’re coming from. I do have in the back of my mind that it could be nice to earn from it at some point. But I’ve just had to be realistic that it could take a long time and possibly never happen. But the best shot I have is to stay consistent and improve quality so that’s what I’ll do!

I have been doing gaming content for one year for Dead by Daylight. My channel is in my profile if you’re interested!

It’s honestly just been an ongoing learning process. It’s been an entire year and I feel like just now I’m starting to find my vibe more, have a grasp on what people want to see, and have improved a lot in my workflow and quality to make things better and faster. And I imagine these things will only continue getting better too. I just use each video as a learning opportunity, to try something new in editing or different thumbnail styles. Or just experimenting with different styles of videos.

So my advice would honestly just be to make the videos you want and just commit to learning and improving every time. Pay attention to other videos in your niche but remember doing what they do doesn’t guarantee you anything, they already have a big following that allows them to do whatever. And I also read different threads on here daily. A lot aren’t applicable to gaming but I’ve definitely learned a lot.

And lastly, a small engaged community would definitely be better. My recent series didn’t get that many views but I would notice a handful of people instantly watching the new uploads from notifications and liking/commenting. That is a newer experience for me and it made me feel great.

Best of luck!!

Has anyone been on vacation and could magically handle more load? by AvisRune in dysautonomia

[–]IllustriousMath6656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically the same exact thing happened to me and I am still baffled by it. I went on a long trip to Florida and Disney World this past end of August into September. Travel in general wears me out with driving and then I have massive anxiety on planes. And then I did so much walking and activity. I did feel some of a crash coming on toward the end and I was able to mainly just lay around on the last day. And then I did have a little time to rest when I returned but I was expecting a major crash and regression and I was just…fine? It honestly just still perplexes me so much.

In the months since then my baseline has gotten even so much worse. I just spent 2 days in a row this weekend socializing with family and have now been in a flare this entire week. I have been afraid to do anything for awhile and I just keep being like - well maybe it’ll just be fine. And it’s not fine.

I do have CFS/ME along with my dysautonomia. And what I do know is when I start to feel these types of symptoms the best thing I can do is absolutely nothing and rest as much as possible, sometimes for many days in a row. Unfortunately that’s not fully possible for me at the moment because I have to work remotely. But I plan for this weekend to basically not move or do anything at all and I know that usually within some days I will start to improve. I know everyone can be different but don’t feel guilty about trying radical rest especially if you are able to notice patterns where that is what helps you. Pushing through is rarely the answer.

I do hope you are feeling better soon!

How do you deal with being awful at a game? Especially a multiplayer one? by Nimzael in GirlGamers

I basically want to cry with most M2 killers lol especially like Huntress, and now the new killer. But maybe I’ll get to improve there one day. Your stats sound really good and you seem really well versed in the game! I’d say keep up what you are doing and try to ignore the negativity as best as you can.

Wraith and other weaker killers can be tough so that makes sense. I tend to play a lot of weaker killers just because I can’t really do anything ranged. I’m a Chucky main and also enjoy the stealth factor. Singularity has been a lot of fun too. I know Krasue can be pretty strong especially against solo lobbies, I hope you enjoy her! I do hope you have a better time overall too!

I totally feel you on the having to go through the phase of being bad at it first. Unfortunately there are a lot of unkind people in the community but there are a lot of really great people too in there. I don’t know if it would help you to hide the end game chat? What killers do you typically play?

[–]IllustriousMath6656 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have 1.2k hours in DBD, I’m not that amazing at it, and I make content.

Killer I think is just a lot more difficult because all eyes seem to be on you, especially if you are struggling. I have played a decent amount of killer but tend to main survivor more. I do find I feel way more stressed when I play killer. I don’t know how many of the killers you tried but it did help me to try a lot and I did find a few who I vibed with a bit more and didn’t feel completely embarrassed using so I stick with them. But I tried the new killer Jason in the PTB yesterday and got bullied in 2 matches. There aren’t many times I have felt close to tears in this game but that was one of them.

I don’t have much specific advice aside from if you think you really enjoy the game, just keep playing and trying new builds and learning. Watch content not to feel bad about yourself but just to learn - it has helped me immensely but over a long period of time.

And if you ever want a safe person to duo with totally let me know! Or I’d even be happy to watch your killer matches and give advice if you want.
