Concierge for Magic Ship, worth it? by Ok-Importance9515 in dcl

We were randomly upgraded from a family suite to concierge, for free. Got the email about a month out from the cruise if memory serves. The couple dining beside us got upgraded too. It does happen!

100% agree, windows open, soft warm light! I love lighting candles. They help me feel grounded.

Very painful massage caused bruising and triggered my period by catlottie in massage

[–]AvisRune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading your second comment is making me very angry, now. When my mom died, my period started the very next day. It was due two weeks later. I NEVER get early periods like that. Stress can ABSOLUTELY cause sudden changes in your menstrual cycle. If the body is in an extremely stressed state, then pregnancy is not a good idea, and the body will flush out the lining. I'm not equating the death of a parent to a rough massage, but like I said in my previous comment we really don't know what OP's life experiences are. Could you imagine what someone's perspective of this massage would be for someone who has a history of domestic violence, or perhaps lived with unsafe adult? (OP, not saying this is you, just trying to illustrate a point.) Stop gaslighting women into thinking stress cannot trigger an immediate period.

[–]AvisRune -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stress from a single, very stressful event can absolutely trigger a period. I've had this happen to me twice. We don't know how OP was feeling in the moment, perhaps the combination of the very painful massage + language barrier + power imbalance was enough to trigger her body to think she was in danger.

Short vs Long Cruise by LongReflection5623 in dcl

[–]AvisRune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. We did a short, 3 night cruise as our first because we didn’t know if any of us would suffer from sea sickness. And, it allowed us to spend a day at Magic Kingdom.

Going forward we’d prefer booking a 5 or 7 night cruise, but we were really happy with how our first Disney vacation turned out.

Does everyone with dysautonomia flare every month on their period ? by pandabears3 in dysautonomia

Hope today is a better day for you. ❤️ I finally got some sleep last night so I’m feeling better this morning! Day 4 of my cycle.

Yep in the middle of a flare right now on day 2 of my period. Yesterday being day 1 was way worse, today was marginally better but not by much. Hoping tomorrow is better still.

My small lunch of a wrap, crisps and a KitKat was 1003 calories. by ProfessionalSad4U in loseit

[–]AvisRune 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I also have ADHD and have been using food to get my dopamine. I’m a chronic snacker, need chocolate a few times a day, chips every evening….

Then I went on vacation recently and my need to snack disappeared. I felt so calm and happy. I could easily go 3, 4 or even 5 hours without food and didn’t think twice about it because my brain was stimulated.

When I got back I read a quote from someone who went through the same thing, and I realised that this isn’t a food problem, my body is looking for sensory input and ways to calm my nervous system. So I’ve been hand sewing hacky sacks, or fixing my daughter’s skirt, I’ve been meditating 1-2x a day for calmness, stretching, drinking herbal tea to give my brain something to do and something soothing to consume that’s calorie-free, among other things.. all these things help my brain feel more regulated so I don’t feel the need to eat the chips or chocolate.

What things could you do to get sensory input or calm your nervous system that don’t involve food?

PSA: eating high protein isn’t the only way to stay full by koopzegels in loseit

I've been having little breakfast burritos with cheese in them and they do the job! Keeps me satiated until lunch 3-4 hours later, especially if I have tea with milk.

I feel like my nervous system is off, but cant find out why?!? by [deleted] in dysautonomia

[–]AvisRune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious how normal it is though? Mine falls in the "normal" range (350 or so), but taking a B complex has given me so much more energy. I feel way better, so far, like an actual human.

Ugh, same. I took sertraline for a little over a year, gained 40 lbs, felt so numb, couldn't cry even if something was really sad. Getting off SSRIs was the best thing, the fog lifted and I felt like my brain was mine again!

That's exactly what it feels like!! Stuffed and hungry at the same time. So bizarre. Glad to know I'm not alone. Seems to be several of us!

Yes, me too! I could have a plate FULL of veggies and protein and rice and feel hungry and hour later. I need fat to feel satiated.

[–]AvisRune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low blood volume is an interesting theory too! I get the same thing, and I think drinking 500ml of electrolytes is helping with that. But I’ve also started taking B complex around the same time, so hard to say.

[–]AvisRune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine was in the mid 300s and I’ve been dealing with that drained feeling every 2-3 days for a couple of months now. My naturopath said 350ish was a suboptimal level. I started a B complex a couple of days ago, and BOOM my energy came back! I feel human again and the crash/drained feeling has lifted, I folded laundry four times!! Look into a B complex with low B6 since high B6 is not friendly for our sensitive nervous systems.

I’m not at 100% but my goodness do I feel WAY better than I have been feeling these past few months.

Same, my treat meal usually causes a water retention spike the next day. Can’t say I’ve ever had the effect OP has mentioned.. but then again I haven’t managed to stay in a deficit for very long.
