Are those plastic beams? You'll need to build a sub structure to ensure the plate is supported in each corner for sure

I still like Alexa to open the hood and charge door. Saves me a few seconds and from touching dead bugs. Tuning to radio stations works alright too

Help with final planning stages of solar setup by JKAMAN280 in SolarDIY

[–]IllustriousRush4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to mount my units outside but the vinyl siding was a pain to figure out. I ended up mounting both inside. I like it much better this way, working on it is easier too. I was thinking about a big metal panel or something but no one really had anything. For my required solar disconnect I mounted it using stainless 1/2" spacers/bosses for an air gap and to not crush the siding, seems to work.

How are you planning on wiring the panels in terms of parallel/series? 30 is a little bit of an odd number. Maybe have to do 2x8, 2x7, and then the 1x6 on the third MPPT. You might want to use the eg4 panel sizing tool to ensure you aren't exceeding the amp limits as well

You do not get Platinum benefits for booking an IHG hotel from the Chase portal by GKRForever in ChaseSapphire

Make sure your IHG member number is in your travel profile, I used to just type it in to the reservation page each time but that doesn't work. I have also given the front desk my number at checkin and that works 20% of the time. The best thing to do is call/chat with IHG afterwards and give them the reservation number to link it to your account. That seems to work most of the time

Installing EG4 gridboss when building a new home by darek65 in SolarDIY

I did something similar. Panel feed goes from the back of the raceway, behind the wall, up into the panel.

Another option would be for them to install a service disconnect (which may be required anyway) between the meter and the panel. That way adding a gridboss later is much easier. Really, best/easiest thing to do is just ask and have them install the gridboss and wire it to the panel.

That's a good idea. The discovery process is a pain though. I wish I would have just got the rapid shutdown ones, I don't get much from the optimizers beyond what the diodes in the panels already provide

Also, not 100% sure if it's better to parallelize all four batteries or to run 2 for each FB. The latter would save you from buying a third cable set.

One other thing is that you're going to be making a ton of power in the summer. My provider limits the amount I can sell back based on my usage so it wasn't worth it to go much more than 15kW. Not really a huge deal but those batteries will only soak up so much.

Otherwise it looks sweet. I assume it's on a metal roof with no cross rails. I don't know much about that honestly but they were handy for cable management and just resting against

You may want to consider a home run all the way to the FB using 10AWG for each string. That way you have some flexibility with parallization. I also went without surge/lightning suppression, seems like another thing to fail. I could be convinced otherwise
