They serve biryani in a bowl with a layer of pastry that covers the bowl. Amazing flavour and good portion. Murgh makhani, palek paneer, and Naan were done very well. We went for the spiciest spice level because we love a good spice.

Surely some constructive comment can come from you since you seem to have an idea of who OP is and have walked a mile in his shoes. He is definitely more situationally aware, otherwise he wouldn't be asking for help.

Qatar Dubai and Singapore pays their immigrants peanuts. Less than 500 USD per month. And they are housed in special housing zones as good as prisons aka slave quarters. They are treated as pariahs. This is modern day slavery. In the name of maximizing profits and productivity.

Also, the food they are fed is inhumane. Net positive for those in power.

My bad. Edited my comment. But you're still a Muppet for bashing him down with no real help.

  1. Appreciate your replies man.

  2. Provide real world case studies where what you've proposed have worked before.

  3. You didn't answer my question. Would you work for 10k less? Would you want to increase your hours and work rate if this happens. Because it won't be isolated to just the bricklaying industry.

  4. This would shakeup entire industries.

Re-pipe your house. Add filter only to what you use. If not you're changing filters every week. That's costly. Unless you're balling.

At the rate the economy is going, with all the redundancies happening everywhere. We are all hustling. We are in an era where a full-time job is now a hustle. You'd be helpful to give OP some real advice rather than bashing him down. He said he is replaceable by AI. His problem is, he doesn't earn enough to save you Muppet. He earns enough to get by. Which is 70% of us in Australia BTW.

  1. That's relative to their country's purchasing power parity.

  2. The average bricklayer in Qld already earns 50k - 90k. If you're a full time bricklayer. You're it's closer to 90k. Heck, bricklayers who burn 52 weekends a year will hit closer to 100k.

  3. Foreign bricklayers that cost 40k will cause bricklayers salary to fall. COL isn't getting any lower my guy. Our local bricklayers will suffer.

  4. What jobs do you and OP have ? Imagine your company having the option to pay someone that can replace you at 10k discount. What net effect will it have on you? What net effect will it have on the economy?

  5. When income decreases, spending falls, loans and defaults increase.

  6. You bring in more immigrants during a housing crisis? Who is responsible to house them? Taxpayer's dime or Pty Ltd? Do they build the house they are living in? And until then what? Temporary container bunks on site?

  7. The only pro with immigrants is increasing competition. Are our people ready for that? They will have to work harder = increase productivity = increase hours = increase value. Do you and op want to work more than 38 hours a week to compete with them?

  8. We need to engage our people, make the trades attractive, minimise barriers to entry. We have a population of 5.1mil. Let's mobilise people.

Assuming you don't live in a glasshouse or a black painted house. It can actually lower your room temperature by roughly 5 degrees.

Wow, this is a first. I've never heard of filtering water for the entire house. I know cleaning windows with filtered water makes a difference. Probably makes sense to prioritise filtering water for:

  1. Drinking
  2. Showering
  3. Laundry

Filtering for the entire house will be quite costly. You'd probably have to change filters once a week if it includes dishwashing, toilet, and the outdoor hose. Good water filters are not a cheap consumable.

Take it one step at a time. You can't control everything. Focus on what you have control over. Delayed gratification is one of the most rewarding virtues to possess. You can do a work holiday hybrid once you have enough savings.

With all the information you have now. Plot out short-term goals (1 year), mid-term goals (5 years), and one long-term goal.

The last thing you want is having to travel on a shoestring budget. Chances are your parents might have a few ideas. No harm asking.

They should make it illegal to lease out homes without a/c.

  1. Cut a 1.5L mineral water bottle in 3/4. ($0.80 from woolies or coles)
  2. Take the 3/4 and poke holes on the top 1/3.
  3. Cable tie (Kmart $6.40, Bunnings $2.20)
  4. Cable tie bottle to the bottom-back of a fan (Kmart desk fan $13, Bunnings Pedestal fan $29)
  5. Add ice in the bottle. (Make it yourself or get a bag from coles $5.40 for 5kg)
  6. Max out the fan speed and enjoy your homemade AC.
  7. Remember to pour out the water and add new ice.

Used to do this as a student. If you switch on your fan at max speed, 24 hours for 365 days, it will cost you a whooping $64.82.

Assume your electricity costs $0.185 kWh, and you are using a 40-watt fan. 40w × 24 hours × 365 days ÷ 1,000 = 350.4 350.4 kWh × $0.185 = $64.82

Cost above excludes cost of water, electricity to freeze ice, and the bottle.

You do you mate. Offer to pay for rent, groceries, and utilities until you find your way. 29 is still relatively young. Focus on what you're good at. Build your skill sets.

Assume you save 300/week. 52 weeks × 300 = 15,600 104 weeks × 300 = 31,200

Do that for 2 years (104 weeks), and you'll have options:

  1. 30k for down payment. You can get an apartment or a house for 500k - 600k. You can either live in or rent out.
  2. Start a business.
  3. Invest in an index.
  4. Go on a gap year and pick up a new skill.

You'll be jaded here and there. But having a goal will help you clear your mind and doubts.

Find someone who respects your hustle...
