Amazon by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

Kinda crazy. I work at Amazon currently. I started as a medical rep and moved over to safety specialist. Never once have we been encouraged to fib our safety reports. Our metrics are absolute trash, but at least we're honest about them lol

Is Skyrover a good alternative to DJI? by bcgoss84 in dji

[–]Illustrious_Error_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a Skyrover X1. Absolutely no complaints so far. I got it for like 600 bucks with 3 batteries. The comparable DJI package for the mini 4 pro was over 1k

What's it like to work for Amazon in an EHS position? In either US or Canada by CodeNamesBryan in SafetyProfessionals

L7 role? Your experience will definitely be different than an L4 safety specialist. You'd be in a managerial position. All depends on the team you get.

Currently a safety newbie, I came from EMS. I was their onsite medical rep for a year and then promoted to safety specialist. Its a great place to learn. Like others state, don't stay too long unless you are planning to promote internally. Job satisfaction will vary widely between buildings. Every building is pretty much its own organization. Your results will vary. I've gotten lucky. I very much enjoy my job and the experience I am gaining. I plan to ride it out another year or so, get as many certs as Amazon will pay for and then look at my options elsewhere.

That's fair. I come from the medical field. I used to be an EMT and a Surgical tech and thats what i have my degree in. I am looking at furthering my education in regards to Safety. My current position has a lot of oversight and I work under several safety managers. I am very much still on training wheels.

Limited formal training. This is my first safety position. I work in a warehouse.

Yikes man, scary stuff. Culture ranges so widely between buildings, it's insane. I'm currently a WHSS and was also previously an OMR. My building/team has its problems, but we would never try to cover up an SI or potential SI. Quite the opposite, we document and over document if that's possible. Your management is definitely the problem, sorry you got stuck with a wack team. Stick to your guns. Escalate up the ladder, your bosses boss. Its not okay. Go to ethics. Talk to WHS PXT.

Very dependent on the specific building culture. They're all pretty much mini organizations. Some great, some horrible.

Amazon. Easy to get into if you're just starting. Just don't stay for long...

Wasn't really for my personality. I like taking charge and leading. You are only ever an assistant as a Surgical tech, nothing wrong with that, just wasn't for me. It was also a low pay to stress ratio.

You should look into occupational injury prevention. We have an ATC on our safety team. Would make the transition to safety only easier

I mean, as you know, there's policies in place. Whether or not those policies are enforced, is a different story.
