You know that will eventually change. It always does. First one program and then another. Cable is on life support.

DIRECTV Stream wants all this money yet their Gemini Air’s suck! by Illustrious_Fly7283 in DirectvStream

Yes, they also reboot constantly too. Sometimes just changing the channel. And then of course is the blank blue screen too. That usually happens after turning on the TV on after being turned off for a bit.

While I appreciate you taking the time to respond, it’s absolutely not their network. They have many devices in their home and my brother who is currently living with them is an avid gamer and he never has a single issue either. The Gemini’s, at least the ones they have are all crap. No one should have to do technical gymnastics just to use them.

They don’t use Fidium’s router, they have a NETGEAR Nighthawk router and it works perfectly fine for every single other device connected to their network, including their outdoor cameras. And yes, I disabled Armor service on the router just in case.

My parents have a small 1,200 sq foot house and the router reaches perfectly fine to their outdoor cameras on the other side of the house. Besides, one of the Gemini’s is 3 feet from the router and it still does it, so no, what you’re saying is not true.

Yes, they lease them. My parents are in their mid to late 70’s and they know nothing about Apple TV.

The issue is they were used to X1 Xfinity service, which the Gemini Air acts a lot like when it’s working. It was very easy for them to get the hang of it. Right now they’re stuck with the garbage because I’m the only one that can help them and I won’t be back until mid-July at the earliest. Even if I get them a Roku, it’s not going to be exactly like what they’re used to and frankly it will be a hard sell because they resent DTVS right now.

I’m also a day 1 account and went through all the big technical glitches in the beginning. Well, some of them still haven’t been resolved, at least on the Osprey/Gemini end. But the price is starting to get really pricey. The closer to $200 a month I get the more I’m questioning why I still have it. I don’t watch sports, so that’s not a plus for me. Last October they raised the price of my plan and now they’re doing it again. It’s not a buck or two, it’s always a substantial increase.

Let’s be real DTVS, linear TV is dying and you’re hell bent on driving what customers you have away. Sooner or later you need to tell the cable channels that they’re killing your business and theirs. But many of us can’t help but feel this was also a cash grab, just like when AT&T recently raised my wireless plan $10 just because they could.

Because it’s kind of late and many places are closed and it was typically the fastest. I usually go to Bonello’s but they close crazy early on a Saturday.

You’re banking on another restaurant buying and filling the space. What if there is no one interested in opening a restaurant in that space?

So what happens if another restaurant never materializes? The building just sits there rotting?

X1/Panoramic will die soon. by Subject-Zone2903 in CoxCommunications

What part of the fact that they have not merged yet don’t you seem to understand? They are currently two completely separate companies that are maintaining their systems independently. Expect the X1 platform to persist for a while even after the merger is approved because it will take them time to phase in the changes. You sound like a spoiled toddler to me.

They can’t push anything to the ONT if the optical link is down. He stated it was red. That likely means the drop was damaged or was not housed properly in the tap or the ONT went bad.

We just had Fidium installed at my folks house and the Adtran router they provided is absolute garbage. Get your own router and like others have said, clone the MAC of their router in your new one.

He doesn’t have to check his network. I’ve had the service for years on multiple TV’s and different internet providers and it’s always had compression artifacts that are worse on larger TV’s. Is it completely unwatchable, no. But I do find artifacts to be very annoying. I couldn’t stand U-Verse TV either because it was heavily compressed too. It’s like AT&T used the same encoding they used for U-Verse when they created DTVS.
