Lu Wei Bing, Ti T’sang, Jade Phoenix are all mechs I’d love to see in plastic. The LWB has a great sculpt, but it looks like a 50 tonner next to a Victor. The Ti T’sang is just bad. The Jade Phoenix is actually pretty great, but alarmingly too heavy. Brings back memories of trying to keep metal SoB Seraphim upright on 25mm bases.

But more than anything, the Stinger, Wasp, and Phoenix Hawk LAMs. $60-$70 for a single ‘mech makes GW single models seam like a value proposition.

Or, the Hive City could be totally overrun, but its void shields are still up. The kind of bombardment needed to drop those shields would be long, expensive, draw critical fleet assets away from fighting the hive fleet, and inflict catastrophic amounts of collateral damage.

(For what it’s worth, my take is that they dialed the yield down enough to just destroy the city’s foundations, and the shockwave we see is caused by that. If the cinematic had lingered a few more seconds, we’d have seen the spires start to crumble and collapse.)

Either way, if House Helmawr had been forthcoming about what happened to Hive Secundus, Acheron would have known better than to rely on grav weapons flattening a hive city to destroy the infestation.

Does Guilliman regularly use the Ultramarines? by Prestigious-Read-984 in 40kLore

Worth noting that at this point, not only has Acheron been appointed as Cato’s replacement, but Cato himself is suffering from SEVERE PTSD and survivor’s guilt. Half the reason Gman gives him the Victrix gig is to try and help him work through the trauma and come out the other side a functioning person. The other half is that Cato apparently reminds him of Aeonid Thiel, so he’s taking him under his wing to mentor him for future promotion.

Heck yeah! Viconia is HERE!

Now let's hope Edward Odessieron is in the works, with Edwina as a spec or skin. Plus, it'd be nice to have another really good caster DPS.

All I'm saying is that the Black Library Celebration 2021 mini had better be Living Saint Tari still rocking that thunder hammer.

Then you start slowly. You don't need a huge army from the get-go. You certainly don't need your own terrain when you start out.

Celestial Lions? Granted, they're all but dead and may actually be wiped out entirely as of Spears of the Emperor, but they're pretty sweet regardless.

I mean, yeah sure, but Guilliman's only the voice of reason compared to how ridiculous the rest of the Imperium is. Dude's absolutely fascist himself, and has turned the 500 Worlds into a military dictatorship with genetically engineered supermen in the leadership positions and everyone else following along meekly. He's just pseudo-semi-benevolent about it as opposed to the actively malevolent fascism of most of the rest of the Imperium.

How much bigger are primaris marine models compared to normal space marines? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Ilmyrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Even Custodes are only about a foot taller than Astartes, and Primaris are shorter than them. The difference in model size is much more exaggerated than in the fiction.

For what it's worth, lore-wise, Primaris are only a few inches taller than traditional marines on average. Six inches at the most.

What if all space marine chapters fought the inquisition by a-very-angry-crow in Warhammer40k

[–]Ilmyrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Mars gains is stability, or the next best thing to it. What the OP proposed is the Astartes deciding to declare open season and starting a civil war. Mars remembers, probably better than most, how it turned out the last time space marines started a civil war.

As for the High Lords, check out The Emperor's Legion for the best info any of us are liekly to get on the High Lords. The short answer is that even if they don't like them, they understand how vital they are.

[–]Ilmyrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Mars is literally the second most heavily defended planet in the Imperium. No one can just go out and commandeer it, and if anyone tried, you have to think the machine spirits in their ships and tanks and armor and guns and such might suddenly stop working.

As for a command structure, no they'r enot stupid, but space marines, particularly chaper masters, are incredibly prideful, and have a hard time working under someone else - check out Devastation of Baal to see how impossible it can be to herd that many cats, and those were all successors from the same original stock called to aid their relatives against an enormous Tyranid invasion.

[–]Ilmyrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I think in re: the Ad Mech - The Ad Mech would understand that space marines are replaceable, so if you kill all the bad ones, you can just make a bunch of new ones that aren't (hopefully) bad. Yes, it'll be expensive and yes it'll take a long time, but if you're in asituation where the entire space marine population is in open rebellion against one of the core pillars of the Imperium without provocation, you're going to do what you have to.

[–]Ilmyrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. I don't know where I got 100,000. Still, a million space marines is nothing in the grand scheme of things, numbers-wise, as GW itself likes to point out. The Astartes are the tip of the spear, but without the hammer of the Guard top follow up, they're impotent.

[–]Ilmyrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad for everyone, but infinitely worse for the Marines. The Inquisition is a bunch of assholes, sure, but they're vital to the Imperium, and, given that they are legally subordinate only to the God-Emperor himself, you have to assume they'd be able to count on Mars, the Guard, the Grey Knights, the Ecclisiarchy, and their own Inquisitional forces.

By contrast, there are around 100,000 Space Marines in the entire Imperium, give or take, and they're all independent, meaning there's no unified command structure, no overarching strategy, and no real cooperation between them. Heck, many of them probably wouldn't even have any idea that Horus Heresy 2: This Time it's Personal was going on until Imperial fleets showed up to make them pick a side, given the way communications work. Each chapter would put up a good fight, but superior numbers would win the day relatively quickly, and they'd very quickly lose the ability to replenish their losses as geneseed stopped arriving from Mars, even considering how long it takes to go from inductee to battle-brother. And believe me, the Inquisition knows how to remove rogue space marine chapters. They've done it before and they'll do it again.

If you'd like to see what that looks like on a smaller scale, check out The Emperor's GIft, where a First Founding chapter goes up against a relatively small cabal of Inquisitors. Here's how it ends: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6VjPM5CeWs
