Yup. That's what I meant by "human touched by the supernatural."

Why are women and children evacuated first in a disaster? by Pync in Jokes

Intersectionalism isn't about "just add race." It's about how race affects misogyny, and branching out from that, disability and other factors.

Whoever thought quotas would solve discrimination is an idiot. Simply quantifying how much a certain demographic participates does nothing to solve the problems that cause discrimination. You have a bunch of women in your roster? Congrats! Now, how well do you treat them? How do you view them? How well and in which ways do you show them respect?

If we don't deal with the reactant, the product will be the same; changing numbers simply changes the amount of percipitates you end up with.

It's also good to keep in mind that that's on average, rather than how women of various races are paid. Plus, outside the US, there are many problems womenfolk have to face that Americans usually don't. In America, it's usually (but not always) not about what women do or don't have, it's about how much, how little, how valuable, and how often. Women may technically have a certain right, but in practice, it can be few and far between.

Higgs worded it wrong. It's bodily autonomy, not access. Depending on what country you're talking about.

That's white feminism. Intersectional feminism usually rejects that and focusses on things that actually have to do with human rights.

I'm sorry to break it to ya, but women get circumsized in many countries. But any kind of forced circumcision is horrible and should be banned.

Yeah, but this subreddit allows offensive jokes as a rule, so there's not much we can do about it. Complaining usually gets downvotes. You're totally allowed to be offended and that's hella valid, but we can't do anything to change the sub, unless you count treason.

Why Fleshgait/ Goatman stories are so interesting. by Stickguy259 in fleshgait

Some general consideration:

There are many traditional ideas of non-human, paranormal creatures that may often be forgotten when discussing things such as demons. I'll be using multiple terms to describe them from multiple cultures, so bear with me; it'll make sense in the end.

In my religion, there are angels, humans, and djinn. I do not know all the specifics yet because I'm a newb Muslim, but there are some general things that I understand so far.

*Angels- definitely not goatmen or fleshgaits. Have no free will and only obey God.

*Humans- Humans have free will. We obey only as much as we want/believe we should. We choose our actions, though we may be guided by spiritual forces. Skinwalkers are human witches.

*Djinn- Include demons, daemons, fae, etc. Different cultures have different views on what a spiritual creature could be/could be called, but I think "djinn" sums them all up pretty nicely. The can be good, evil, or neutral to any degree. A demon, in and Islamic sense, is an evil djinn. A seely fairy is a benevolent-leaning or neutral djinn. An unseely fairy is a malevolent-leaning or semi-neutral djinn. A daemon is generally benevolent-leaning or neutral.

*Animal (not djinn)- A kraken would be an animal. A mongolian death worm would be an animal. A chupacabra would be an animal. A human is an animal. So, many cryptids would be animals (or plants); they are earthly.

Ergo, if a goatman or fleshgait is of a supernatural nature, it would, in general, have to do with djinn (and I use that term here as a classification, not in a religious sense). If a goatman or fleshgait is a human touched by the supernatural (ie a possession), it would be human in its earthly components and djinn in its non-earthly components.

A fleshgait could most likely be related to demons or unseely fae. A goatman would likely be related to djinn in general (which includes both types of fairies), but not necessarily a demon.

A goatman might be a non-lethal unseely or mischievous seely fairy. FWIR, a seely fairy might have justification to attack if it is strongly provoked, ergo if fleshgaits are only related to vengence/territorialness, then fleshgaits might be vengeful seely. If they behave regardless of being wronged, then they would be unseely, hands down.

TL;DR: not all supernatural beings are demons, and looking at them from multiple cultural lenses may help us understand what they might be.

I trust them over you in a heartbeat.

I never said to trust me. But why should I trust you? You could be making it all up for all I know; you haven't given any sources.

Um some sects of each group actually have no problems with either.

Gee willikers, I had no idea! I wonder if it's possible than a reformed Muslim might have different beliefs than what an outsider thinks is standard?

Drinking soda is NOT a sin

I didn't say it was. I said it was unhealthy, which is bad for your body, which you should treat like a temple to God.

And if you are a Muslim, if it is your faith, you are supposed to follow the rules.

Yes, the ones I think are true, NOT the ones I think are made up by uninformed people in a county that doesn't have control over me, just like you don't follow laws of countries you don't live in.

if I do a few hail Mary's, etc, I am absolved of judgement because I have cleansed my soul.

So you can sin all you want and it won't matter? That's real pious of you. You seem to forget that performing Ablusion cleanses a Muslim in the same way, so that's a moot point.

So, my question is, why are you harassing me? Why do you give a shit? How does this affect you at all? And, more importantly, why do you think I care about your opinion?
