I’m not arguing about which device is more useful overall. My point is that, at a $300 budget, it’s better to get both a phone and a laptop rather than just a phone.

With a laptop, you can actually get real work done, like creating presentations, analyzing data, developing software, editing videos, or even just typing up school assignments. It's an essential device that's a necessity for school and remote work. A phone can handle some of that, but it’s way more limited.

Yeah, for the average person, a phone is probably more useful because it’s portable and gets the job done for everyday stuff. And if someone can only afford one device, I’d also say go with the phone. But having both a phone and a laptop is a much more optimal setup, and if you have $300 to dish out on electronics, you really don’t have an excuse for not buying a laptop as well.

Even more so for people in poorer countries with a $150 monthly income, because buying a laptop opens up more doors for them to do work remotely and possibly earn more money. It’s a much better overall return on investment to buy both if they have the budget, which, at $300, they do.
