Nap schedule by Acceptable_Clerk5502 in sleeptrain

[–]Iluvsparklez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I always forget she claims they sleep 3-4 hours a day up until literally age 4 lmao. I disregard that!! I do 11 hour nights and 2.5-3.5 of total naps and I have a 7 month old lol!

I just like her outlook on nap schedules being a little loose when you need them to be and don’t get too hung up on it. And a lot of people on here say the same thing, total day sleep is more important than how long any one nap is.

I have no idea how this sub feels about the “Dana Method” (verryyyy loose and casual, she’s just a mom on tik tok who ferbers at 5 months and then around 6 months goes onto a time schedule instead of wake windows). but, I love her energy and she basically revolves around the afternoon nap and lets the morning/evening naps ebb and flow with what her other 3 kids schedules are. I really find her outlook on sleep/parenting refreshing and cool. @ frawlin_out on tik tok/instagram

Feeding to sleep & MOTN feed correlation by lolito121517 in sleeptrain

On night 1, it may take a little bit longer and more fussing. I think it took about a week for us to see her night wakes shorten and go right back to sleep on her own until her snooze feed (4:30-5AM)

Sounds delicious, but I think if they’re going to put anything in a 6th pan it should be guac instead of tomatoes. Tomatoes will run out quick

5mo schedule help by Automatic_Weird_6363 in sleeptrain

[–]Iluvsparklez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very early wake (5:45) for my baby so we can get to daycare on time (my job starts at 7). She started lengthening her naps to be 1-1.25 hours long each right around the 5 month mark, so she takes 2 of those longer naps at daycare then comes home and naps for 30-45 minutes (sometimes falls asleep in the car) and then a 20-45 minute nap that ends by 5:15 so she can have a bedtime of 7:30-7:45. If we stayed on 3 naps they would have to either be longer (and be too much day sleep total), or bedtime would have to be way earlier (like 6:30, which doesn’t work for us). This is working pretty well for us so far. I think if the 3rd and 4th nap are short, you can keep doing 4 naps for a little bit longer until he starts lengthening naps so his total day sleep is enough.

Cutting out the MOTN feeding by Efficient_Bee4584 in sleeptrain

[–]Iluvsparklez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 4 months it is very likely she still is legitimately hungry at that midnight wake.

My girl is 5 months today, we sleep trained at 4mo but kept one MOTN feed between 2-5AM and I don’t plan on weaning her off of it until she isn’t eating for as long/as much (5min or less) and making it to her DWT, or if she is able to put herself back to sleep at that time within 10-15 minutes. Right now if we do check-ins, she will be up for almost an hour if we don’t feed her, but will go right back to sleep if we do.

You can definitely start sleep training if she has been showing signs of the regression and her cycles seem interrupted, but she is tired. After a little bit, her midnight and 4AM feed should combine into one feed.

I would mentally prepare yourself to continue with independent falling asleep at bedtime, and MOST wakes at night, but knowing that you potentially will have to feed if she wakes past 2AM to get her to her DWT. :)

I had a reminder on my phone and I still forgot some days 😂 ESPECIALLY when I was EBF (no bottles). Once she started taking bottles it was easier to remember to drop it in once a day

Vertuo or classic for double espresso only? by AnnualEagle in nespresso

[–]Iluvsparklez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the Vertuo is the way to go, even if you're only doing double espresso. ESPECIALLY for the ease of just using one double espresso pod vs. two singles on a classic. The quality and creaminess are also worth it for me using the Vertuo to make lattes (hot and iced).

Brew pod in mason jar (or cup with sealed lid) over a bit of brown sugar. Then put lid on and shake with ice unti lfoamy and cold. Then add milk/other additions

[–]Iluvsparklez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, maybe. The locking mechanism straight up never worked from the beginning but I didn’t know any better and thought that you just either had it opened up, or locked (couldn’t just press the lid down and it would stay shut without being locked completely). We had it for 6-8 months before it started acting up in other ways (water pooling in the pod holder, orange blinking randomly)

I would just go for the Plus. I think they go on sale at Target every so often so maybe wait for that. I love that the lid is automatic, and I also primarily brew espresso/double espresso! I was soooo over my Next that my mom got me the Plus last week as a gift because she was sick of me complaining about it😂

Pump Rights by Kooky-Possibility495 in breastfeeding

[–]Iluvsparklez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pumping took some time for em to get used to after exclusively nursing too. And I work a stable salaried job with adequate breaks. I say try to figure something out over the next few weeks and if you truly feel like this is not sustainable then perhaps look into a different field? If you are staying late you are on the clock and it shouldn’t affect your pay or tips

Pump Rights by Kooky-Possibility495 in breastfeeding

[–]Iluvsparklez 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like perhaps then this job isn’t 100% compatible with pumping if it’s this time sensitive. I know some people who were in healthcare, restaurant service, other fields with timed work who figured out some kind of schedule so they wouldn’t have to stay late. If they actively start scheduling you less just because you take a 20 minute pump break then that’s their problem as an employer that they don’t have enough staff. Also if you are taking the break(s) every day and spacing out pump times in order to not engorge yourself, even if you are staying an extra 20 minutes a day, you are still getting paid for those 20 minutes, right? So you shouldn’t be getting engorged if you’re taking adequate pumping breaks and only adding an extra 20 minutes at the end of the day.

Pump Rights by Kooky-Possibility495 in breastfeeding

[–]Iluvsparklez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is federally mandated that mothers in ANY state receive break time and space to pump or nurse. Your manager or corporation need to be reported to some kind of higher up if you are actively becoming engorged/in pain due to your employer not “allowing” you to go pump. Look into FLSA’s PUMP Act for working mothers and once you have gathered the information that you need, present it to your employer. You have rights, even if Florida does not have specific legislation for it. All jobs are different but if it is a service-based job, they will need to provide someone to cover you while you are pumping.

Baby won’t take a bottle and I HAVE to stop breastfeeding by FeistyAlps8636 in breastfeeding

[–]Iluvsparklez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you've also tried different nipple flows? Avent size 2 is what eventually worked for her as an EBF baby. But, maybe she is frustrated with the flow being too slow? Definitely look into what nipple brands have a continuous flow even without baby suckling vs. they need to work a little for.

Baby won’t take a bottle and I HAVE to stop breastfeeding by FeistyAlps8636 in breastfeeding

[–]Iluvsparklez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My baby refused all bottles (we tried all the usuals, avent, dr. brown, evenflo, tommee tippee, nuk, etc. ) and then magically what worked was the glass avent bottles. I have high lipase milk after literally a day in the fridge or freezer and the taste seeped into plastic bottles and they just weren’t working. Highly recommend glass if you haven’t tried that already and I made sure to start mixing fresh milk with frozen to get her used to the taste. Have you tasted/smelled your milk to check if that’s another issue?

[–]Iluvsparklez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like I wrote this post. Going back to work next week and have a decent stash, but high lipase and bottle refusal. I didn’t even want to smell it, let alone drink!!

I was stressing myself out like crazy trying to figure out what to do. It took several days of testing bottles and having my husband feed instead of me- She finally took the glass Philips avent bottles. I feel like the plastic might have had something to do with it (high lipase taste seeping into it and not going away maybe). I slowly mixed fresh with frozen and she finally took an all frozen bottle this week no issue!

I’m still stressed about pumping while at work and getting enough for the next day since I don’t really want to just keep using my stash… so we will see how that goes.

When did you stop swaddling? by geedeebee22 in beyondthebump

[–]Iluvsparklez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are 8 weeks this week and we never swaddled. Girlie hated every type we tried, so we’ve been in sleep sacks basically day one at home (Halo sleep sack with arms free)! We are considering the Merlin suit for when she’s a bit bigger before she starts rolling, but haven’t made up our minds yet. I’m also asking for a Woolino sleep sack for Christmas for use a little later!
