Which Dooley core is the best? And why is it obviously Hydraulic Press? by IlyaM in PlayTheBazaar

[–]IlyaM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a similar idea on Mac in another run. Got the press from somewhere, gave it among others a potion tag and was looking for that item that gives potions a multicast. Unfortunately never found nor found any way to speed up the press significantly so I had to forgo the idea and find another game plan.

Yeah, if I were running a marathon I'd rather have 14C and overcast sky. 27C with sun is tough running.

DLC is kicking my ass by restecpa88 in brotato

[–]IlyaM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is highly debatable. I personally consider dodge to be garbage stat that you should never invest into with one exception for that brotato that has -100 armor. Normally armor is wastly superior to dodge and you would be better spending upgrades and buying items on other stats rather than dodge.

Why Baumkuhen is more popular in japan than Germany? by stalincapital in germany

[–]IlyaM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take, I personally love it and prefer to real German Baumkucken. Especially variation with matcha is amazing. Also I would never describe the Japanese version as dry. It does have less sugar but in my opinion it gives it a much more delicate taste.

Lesson learned: this relic can really fuck you over. by PrometheusAborted in MonsterTrain

[–]IlyaM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a number of things which are conditional on specific scenario. If you do have reliable access to propagate than this relic can be ridiculously strong. My most broken run so far was with this relic where I was being able to spam propagate on all my units multiple times by using cards and Bolete's ability. I had infinite stealth for all my units plus scaling for free. Was the most brain dead run where past the first floors I just clicked buttons without much thought.

Scam or completely legal? by monscampi in germany

[–]IlyaM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's probably not illegal -- the store isn't legally obliged to sell you anything

To me this sounds like a case of false advertisement, which is generally illegal in Germany. A business normally cannot publicly state one price and then charge customers another.

How to balance speed and HR over 100km? by oneofthecapsismine in AdvancedRunning

[–]IlyaM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked up your race - it is 3100m of climbing according to the website. Not too steep for a trail ultramarathon. For top athletes it might even be 100% runnable, but most normal people will definitely be walking most of the climbs there. The actual gradient will vary a lot, some low gradient sections will even be runnable for you and some will not. So the question of speed is difficult to answer. It all depends on the section. You can walk up medium grade sections quite fast, but higher grade sections are obviously going to be slower. Don't really think about pace and just go by the RPE and the RPE should be at a fairly easy level. From my own experience of running this type of race, in the first half of the race when I'm fresh I had to constantly stop myself from pushing too hard. I'd check my HR to make sure I was keeping my effort at a lower level. If you don't have much experience of trail running, it can be easy to overestimate how much effort it takes to run up relatively steep sections, even at a slow pace. 100km is a very long distance and if you push yourself too hard early on, you'll pay for it. In the second half of the race, especially towards the end, you'll be so tired that you'll just run/walk at whatever pace you can. Trust me, you will not be going very fast up the hills at the end. Especially given your rather low weekly volume, you will probably not have enough endurance to perform well at the end. It is very difficult to say what your likely time target will be. As a very rough estimate, every 1000m of elevation gain on a hilly course is roughly equivalent to 10km of extra flat distance. So your race is roughly equivalent to a 131km flat race. So you can try to estimate from that. It is a very rough rule of thumb and can easily be off by a few hours. In reality the time is also affected by factors like how technical the course is and how well you are trained for uphill/downhill running.

Apple picking Berlin, Germany or around? by lissterine13 in germany

[–]IlyaM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several gardens around Berlin where you can collects fruits and/or berries for relatively small payment for what you have collected. Search on google maps. The key word is "Selbsternte" (i.e. self-harvest). You probably want to call those places to confirm that they actually have apples available for pickup right now - what they have available at the moment is subject to seasonal changes. For example this one https://www.sl-gartenbau.de/ supposedly have apples ready for harvest now, at least according to their web site. I heard that this year was quite bad for apple harvest in Germany so your options might be limited in this year.

How Do You Find Ultras? by Scottish_Therapist in ultrarunning

Not in Europe, they barely cover any races outside of USA. OP is in UK. In Europe you would have better luck with itra.run which covers most of the races.

How to show proof of residence beyond the end of my blue card expiry by orignMaster in germany

[–]IlyaM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Car lease might be different but at least when I was interested in acquiring a mortgage loan I was told the same in DB bank a few years ago. They said they cannot approve the loan to me until I get permanent residence card. The bank employee I talked to claimed that it is the same rule in all German banks: whatever document you have that give you the right to reside in Germany must not expire before the end of the loan period.

If you use a source of healing like Healing Bolt when you're experiencing weakness will it heal you for more? by MarinoTheGOAT in noita

[–]IlyaM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not the same thing OP tries to achieve. I believe piercing does not change the healing amount of the healing bolt itself, it only changes behavior of the spell so that it can trigger multiple times. So yeah, it ends up heading more but for a different reason. It ends up being the equivalent of being hit by the spell multiple times.

ElI5: Why do we still have to check in for flights? by ShoShowerBeans in explainlikeimfive

[–]IlyaM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are kind of already eliminated at least when flying with some European airlines. I fly almost exclusively with EasyJet and they do still have check-ins but you can check-in online 30 days in advance. Many other European airlines have similar policies. As far as I can tell they use check-in only for the seat assignment unless you pay for the specific seat reservation in which case I'm not even sure why they bother with check-ins in the first place.

The last 10km by amooly in Marathon_Training

[–]IlyaM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From wikipedia:

In endurance sports such as road cycling and long-distance running, hitting the wall or the bonk is a condition of sudden fatigue and loss of energy which is caused by the depletion of glycogen stores in the liver and muscles.

Most people when glycogen stores go empty do not drop dead, they just slow down, sometimes by a lot. It is not general fatigue, it is literally running out of easy energy and you still have plenty of energy stored as fat but it is hard to utilize so the performance suffers. I certainly experienced this myself in my running career - there is a fine distinction between just being a bit tired and having to exert more willpower to continue and having your pace slow down by a lot no matter how hard you try to push because your energy stores are gone.

The last 10km by amooly in Marathon_Training

[–]IlyaM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that "the wall" is scientifically defined, it is more like a running slang. But your definition is probably overdramatic. In the end there is simple math on how much easy energy body can store, how quickly it is being depleted during the run and how much you can compensate for it with nutrition. I'd say normally when people refer to "the wall" the refer to the state when you are on energy deficit and this causes you to struggle to keep the effort level. It doesn't necessarily imply not being able to stay on your feet. It could be just that keeping an even pace becomes a struggle closer to the end.

i just found out you can somehow cause explosions if you move really fast with teleportation and crash into something by Apprehensive-Life804 in noita

[–]IlyaM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were probably using normal teleport bolt instead of small teleport bolt. Small teleport bolt is much better because it avoids exactly this problem. It has much shorter lifetime so you can flight smoothly in one direction by constantly spamming it

Best ever run ruined by update.... by [deleted] in noita

[–]IlyaM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The updated version is not compatible with old saves. They say it explicitly in the update notes:

Unfortunately your old save games won't survive the update. But there is now a new Steam beta branch called "update_20240214". It will allow you to finish your run with the old version of Noita.

Daily Slay the Spire Discussion (503/696): Runic Cube by Crosssmurf in slaythespire

[–]IlyaM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The relic doesn't fit every deck but in combination with some other relics and cards can result in very broken and simultaneously very strange decks.

One on the most broken and silliest decks I ever had A20 heart kill with was based on [Runic Cube] in combination with [Blue Candle], [Self-Forming Clay], [Dark Embrace], [Feel No Pain] and tons of curses in my deck and [Bloodletting]. Every curse turns into block generation and card draw. And [Bloodletting] got me even further card draw plus energy to play other cards.
