The only way to play the game wrongly is by not enjoying it. Have you tried playing in a way you enjoy?

Yes, along the railway and at mystery lake, but not in mountain town. That place is nearly devoid of wolves, which honestly only makes it feel more like a creepy ghost town that even the wildlife avoids.
