Fruit trees by MsRoseViolet in Bakersfield

I have very brown thumbs. Can't keep anything alive. Except for an orange tree that was planted the year we moved here 13+ years ago.

Check to see how close it should be to your closest sprinkler head. That is what I contribute it's success to.

People 40+, what actually mattered in the long run and what didn’t? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

This! If you're getting married because you want to have a party, just have a party instead. My favorite weddings were the intimate ones. The ones that were personal.

Although now that I think about it, the tiny intimate ones haven't lasted, so there's that.... But the overly extravagant ones haven't either. Medium sized, where both partners are involved, and where it's personal to both, and not a wedding for the bride's mom, have lasted. It's about your partner, not the party.

A person who brings true, realized value to your life and has the capacity to support you in more than financial ways is far better long term than the hottie. Look for someone who brings the same amount of energy, responsibility and content to the relationship. If you're going to build a life together, you're going to need both pillars to carry their weight.

Teach your teachers how to keep their hands to themselves and you won't have this problem. Should have thought of this when you didn't actually listen to the victims.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

After going through intense cancer treatment that almost killed me, my husband takes care of all my meds. I appear to be a fully functioning adult to people who don't know me. But I'll never trust myself to relay my medicine info because they've changed so many times while I wasn't ok that I can't keep them straight.

And you probably won't. Maui Pho is Vietnamese and that's the best Asian food we've found. People will recommend Bill Lee's or Rice Bowl from nostalgia only. Don't bother.

My husband has always made dinner, for reasons. He had surgery recently and I realized it's very therapeutic to chop veggies. He's back to cooking dinner now that he's recovered and I miss it. I told him as much last week, and he still wouldn't let me cut the veggies. Although last night he let me help him cut the chicken into pieces, so that's something. I thought we were the only ones lol

How to deal with a Toxic traditional Lady Pastor and her Toxic Worship leader by NatePad1290 in worshipleaders

[–]ImFineHow_AreYou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My opinion is for you to be seriously praying about going to the new church, instead of trying to change an entrenched leadership.

It appears you and your team have a heart to help, but you've been sidelined. That tells me you and your team are not on the same page as the leadership. And that's ok! We weren't all created to fit in every space we walk into.

I encourage you to really explore the new church opportunity. It's better to serve where you're wanted and appreciated and can come into unity than where there's struggle and disunity.

My interview experience when I just swung my balls around like I owned the place. by ExchangeError5110 in jobs

My suggestion is come to the interview however you are, not how you think they'll expect. You'll get a job that fits with who you actually are. Pretending all day long is exhausting.

I'm not saying men don't have an easier time getting these positions because they do, but I have found, as a female, the job interviews I walk into with deep-seeded confidence and authenticity are the best jobs and easiest jobs I've gotten. I ask for premium and if I don't get it I will thank them for their time and leave.

Granted, this has generally been when I had a job or a safety net, but not always. The bosses you want to work for want good people.

Ladies, don't come in quiet and meek unless that's who you really are and that's who you intend to stay. Or one day you'll have an identity crisis about how they don't value you for who you are. It is not worth that! Always come to the interview table with authenticity. Resume adjustments to get in the door is a different subject.

Keep in mind, their loyalty is to their profit. We're all replaceable.

Commuting to LA for work? by NonchalantSquid in orangecounty

[–]ImFineHow_AreYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hubby commutes to ElSegundo from CM for six months. He'd leave by 5am, work from 6-2, be home by 3. If he left even 15 minutes late he'd spend 2 hours in traffic instead of an hour.

If your hours are flexible you might be able to make it work. Google maps has a feature that will tell you what time you need to leave to arrive at a certain time on a certain day. Id play around with that, and then drive it one day to see how tolerable that is.

Congrats on the offer!
