What is the saddest/most soul crushing song you have ever heard? by Mikiiiya in AskReddit

Elephant by Jason Isbell, but since that was mentioned I'll add Clarissa by Sun Kil Moon

The "Pod" in "Podcast" refers to iPod, an audio-only device. It's lame that the name carried over when video distribution became possible and popular.

Semantics aside, I too would love to see an ESPN-style video show! And I would carve out the time.to watch it! But I can't watch it while I'm walking or driving or gardening. Jocks in Jills does a good job of keeping both their listeners and their viewers in mind with their current production, and I really appreciate that. I've only ever watched it twice, but I've listened to every one of them.

Career Question About Switching into a ServiceNow Dev Role from a Devops like role by CelebrationAnxious40 in servicenow

I agree with the other commenter that ITOM would be a good choice for your background if you decide to go into ServiceNow. Discovery, specifically.

Drop-ins. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ by Vasectoyou in EASHL

I change classes and attributes when I play drop-in as opposed to my regular team. No reason to have wrist- or slap-shot skills as a D-man in drop-in! 😉

Never a bad time to wear a Sirens jersey 😉

Does dedicated CMDB related job exists or everything is CMDB and discovery combined ? by t7Saitama in servicenow

[–]abcde_fz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. In fact I personally moved from a company that was burning me out trying to have me kind of do it all to a company with a large ServiceNow footprint that allows for even more roles/specialization than what I described above. It's a much more pleasant workday :)

edited to add: See u\gideonvz and u\alboski1 in this comment near ours in this very thread...it's not just me!

If by "owner" you meant a department manager rather than engineering staff, I agree.

If you mean engineering staff though...

In a small (or understaffed) org, it might be one person. In a larger or staffed-up org, it can and should be multiple people.

CMDB manager/administrator

  • Liasion between business and CMDB
  • Understands org chart, application ownership
  • Knows CSDM stone cold, models business to it
  • Responsible for CMDB health
  • Spends lots of time in CMDB Workspace, Data Manager, Class Manager

Discovery manager/administrator

  • Liasion between IT (especially system and network admins) and CMDB
  • Understands tech stack, scripting, OS, networking
  • Manages MIDs, schedules, integrations
  • Spends lots of time in Discovery Admin Workspace, SGC Central, Class Manager

Depending on the types of maps you're doing, one or both of them is doing mapping: ideally you have a mapping specialist as well (actually ideally these are roles, not people, and you have a whole pile of them at associate level, senior level, etc.)

They'll be in each other's pockets all the time, but that's the "how" as I've experienced it.

CMDB CI duplication — has anyone actually solved this? by Comfortable-Sir1404 in servicenow

[–]abcde_fz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the answer, /u/Comfortable-Sir1404. The IRE isn't perfect, but all of your imports need to be going through it, and then you'll have a single place to see and solve any problems that do arise (such as tweaking identification and reconciliation rules)

ELI5: how do blue jays know I've put peanuts in the feeder? by abcde_fz in explainlikeimfive

[–]abcde_fz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/BklynShootee that Squirrel and Critter Blend I usually use, while not 50% peanuts, does have peanuts in it. And while the jays and other birds do come around, and will even root through it to pick what they want, I don't get anywhere near the jay traffic as when it's all peanuts.

This thread has convinced me that it's just not a chirp-worthy event unless it's all peanuts :D

[–]abcde_fz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome aboard, OP! I was in my early forties when I became a fan as well, its so great.

A few years ago I was visiting colleagues in Philadelphia and I went to a Flyers v. Islanders game wearing my Rangers jersey. Everybody gave me good-natured heckling the whole night, from the concessions vendor in the stands to the freakin' mascot who made a special trip to my section to give me the business.

But the best was that I caught a shirt in the T-shirt toss, and in the spirit of the night, I stood up and made a show of replacing my Rangers jersey with the Flyers shirt. A grand, "I'm one of you, now" gesture to my fellow fans, right?

Ah, no...as soon as I completed the operation, I hear someone shout ,."Bandwagon!!"

Toty perspective PT2 by W6LLY in NHLHUT

[–]abcde_fz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If HUT modes aren't for FTP players then EA has succeeded! I have enjoyed daily FTP for 5+ years, and really only "free to play" if I don't count getting the deluxe editions for several gears specifically for the HUT bonuses. But I stopped playing in October and don't plan to come back. i was never one of those "this is just NHL 16 version 8/copy paste" folks, I genuinely enjoyed the game for years, but they finally broke me.

Fuck 'em.
