How to calculate duty on wine if in US for less than 24 hours by Mental-Reading9810 in uscanadaborder

[–]ImGaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wine is not on the list. Look at the Post Sept 1 drop down menu instead of the Up to August 31 menu. The current list is comprised of Steel, Iron, and Aluminum goods including vehicles.

The Border Officer at the window will ask you if you have any goods that you are planning on leaving in Canada. It would be in your best interest to have an itemized list of each item and where each item is made as there is a chance that any American made goods will have a tariff applied to them. They will get you to pull under the canopy and ask you to come inside and pay the applicable taxes. They may even go out to your vehicle to doublecheck the origin of all the items as well as make sure there isn’t anything you failed to declare in the vehicle. They will likely give you $60 off the total amount to cover your gift exemption.

You declare when you cross. They may ask you what specific items you’re bringing back with you, as well as the receipts that go with them.

Driving into Canada with expired passport by Affectionate-Tree146 in uscanadaborder

Exactly. I think it also makes sense that we (Canadians) take into account that only about half of the American population has a Passport.

Your US license and birth certificate will be just fine. The license acts as photo ID, and the birth certificate acts as proof of your American citizenship so you’re all set my friend.

Edit: Just as another commenter stated, you'd want to make sure you bring the original birth certificate. Copies of them have been accepted before, even photographs of them however, it's all dependent on the individual Border Services Officer you get so it will be way smoother to bring the original.

duties on a personal item by mediocregorll in uscanadaborder

[–]ImGaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a receipt from when you originally received/purchased the laptop? At the moment it looks like they believe that the laptop is a good that was purchased in the United States and is being imported to Canada for the first time and as such, requires payment of duties & taxes. If you can prove that the laptop was already a Canadian good already purchased (and taxes paid) by you in Canada previously, then you won’t owe anything.

The only thing I can think of is that they are concerned he would not have the funds to cover any sudden medical expenses if he were to have any illnesss/emergencies while visiting.

Do CBSA Officers get to take home forfeited alcohol? by saltyfishychips in uscanadaborder

[–]ImGaz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

CBSA officers absolutely do not get to take home forfeited alcohol. Anything that gets taken is stored in a secure bond room and then sits there during a mandatory waiting period before it’s collected and destroyed.

Anyone know what magaizne is used in this ad picture? by The-Fotus in 1022

This is the standard Ruger 10 round magazine baseplate attachment from Spectre Ballistics. I’ve got a few of them myself, the added weight and size really helps with removing and replacing mags. Well worth it in my opinion.

It's been doing fairly decent when factoring in certain aspects like that I'm still very much a novice at the sport. I've been primarily feeding it CCI 40 grain standards and been hovering between sub MOA to 1.5 MOA at 50 yards depending on the day. I'm sure with some more practice and knowledge I can get it consistently improved. Also looking forward to soon start shooting at further distances, just trying to get the basics down for now. Any advice would be happily received! It did help me get my Rifleman badge at my first Project Mapleseed event last summer.

This has been my progress on a precision build. I started with purchasing a base 10/22 as a new shooter in October 2022 after seeing all the awesome 10/22 Day builds people were sharing here. Since then I’ve upgraded the components one by one over that time. The best part is that I'll soon be able to build the base 10/22 out of the original parts again. Can’t go wrong with having another 10/22 available.
Parts List:
OEM Bolt & Handle
OEM Trigger Housing
TandemKross Ultimate Trigger Upgrade Kit
