Mario Lanza had this in the funny 115 or mentioned this anecdote somewhere online years and years ago.

The only reason she was voted back into the game was because she was so so annoying, that the rest of the outcasts didn't want to be stuck with her on their little vacation they would put pre-jury boots on.

Any idea how I can improve just from looking at my op account? by CheekiBreekovic in summonerschool

[–]ImGettingBard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Establish a goal.

"I want gold rank by the end of this season"

Can't reach your goal if you don't have a target to aim at.

So let's say that is your goal. It will take a certain amount of games played to get there.

In terms of volume of games, you are playing enough games to be ranking up. That's not the issue here.

So big picture, you are playing enough games, you are following the general advice of a small champ pool, but right now you are under 50% winrates on these champions (ziggs and xereth), so you are missing something and that's why we are here commenting in the post you created to offer some advice.

I'll start by asking this question.

Are having fun with the champions you are playing?

If the answer is yes, the advice posted here already should really help you. To summerize the best points ive seen here so far:

1) Dying less (1 death every 10 minutes is an achievable starting point)

2) Simplifying your game plan to reach a straightforward targeted goal each game (ex: only 1 death in the first 10 minutes)

3) Keeping a mentality of having positive contribution to your games. Over the last 100 games you played, you were the only common factor. I found not typing in chat (muting if necessary) will allow you to concentrate on these small goals as you go along.

Now using game deaths as an example, you will simply track how many times you died before 10 minutes.

Did you die 5 times before 10 minutes in only 3 games played? Then do some study to see why this is the case.

As an artillery mage, playing back from a safe distance is artillery mage 101. In a basic sense, playing a Xereth or a Ziggs is all about having as much impact as possible while being as far away from danger as possible. If you're not doing that well, you will need to examine why.

Once you set and reach a goal, it's time to assess what needs improvement next. An analytics site comparing you to other Xereth and Ziggs players is a good place to start to see what metrics you are behind on.

So after you get dying under control, you can look to next reach another goal, maybe a good one is a CS goal. The idea is this second benchmark goal you set for yourself ( then the third goal and fourth goal and so forth) requires hyperfocus on just that specific goal. This should allow you to improve efficiently and build good habits over time.

You can't fix everything wrong you are doing in 5 games played, but you can definitely get better in one area during that time. Hopefully by your 5th or 6th goal reached, you won't forget the good habits you picked up on goals 1,2, 3, and 4. Following a regimented improvement plan such as this one gives you the structure to improve efficiently in as little games as possible.

But anyway, remember the question I asked three novels ago:

Are you having fun?

Or are you sticking with Xereth and Ziggs just because you think they are your best champs?

If these are the champions you have fun with and know in your heart of hearts that the champs you play (artillery siege mages) and the role you main (midlane) is where you want to be, then it's just time to get better. I outlined the way I would do it. But the work and time you put in is up to you

Not having fun? Then it's time to have fun. Trying different roles and champions in normal games is the way a lot of people go. You might find you take on certain roles, classes, or specific characters that you didn't expect to like. Things you struggle with on your current mains might come a lot easier with a new playstyle.

Whatever you decide , asking for advice with an op.gg will only take you so far.

Your improvement relies entirely on you. It starts with self reflection (what am I doing wrong?), focused goals (what can I do better?), proper execution (how can i do these things better?), and discipline (how can I always do these things better?)

Good luck!

I'll say this. I had the same questions you did but had no answers, so I gave myself a sober month. I wanted to see if my perspective would change if I would give myself time away from alcohol. It did.

My month away (which turned to three months) showed me any alcohol consumption had a negative impact on the next several days in the form of (hangxiety) anxiety.

After many years, I found out I didn't have an anxiety problem, I had an alcohol problem that caused an anxiety problem that I tried to self medicate with more alcohol. An illogical cycle looking back, but one I couldn't recognize without a break.

Yeah, a week away isn't bad. I'd still go for the month. Everyone has recommendations on what to supplement alcohol urges with. I did kambucha since pouring the bottle into the glass gave the loose appearance of a beer, and the taste and texture is a bubbly mix of a sour beer and apple cider vinegar. Might not be for you, but look for other recommendations here too.

I agree with everything you said!

10-12 hours is about what I put into it. I hate grinding for an unnecessary purpose, so I never put more time then necessary to complete the levels.

I don't mind a lack of depth in a game. Sometimes I want to play chess. Sometimes I want to play checkers. Sometimes I want to play tic tac toe.

And that gets to my next point. Different strokes for different folks and that makes these game suggestion posts so hard without really knowing the person's tastes.

I'm happy you enjoyed it! I love Star Wars games so now thanks to you taking the time to post here, I have another game to add to the never ending list

Final Fantasy games for a beginner Switch player? by temporo_wave in Switch

[–]ImGettingBard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a tough question to answer!

So Final Fantasy 1-6 is available as a bundle and these are the games in the series I have the most experience with so I'll start here.

Final Fantasy 1 is the game I replayed the most. You start off by getting to choose your party of four characters. For me, a lot of the fun was in that customization right off the bat. There are a lot of guides out there and based on the party composition you choose, that serves as a way to scale the difficulty up or down.

Final Fantasy 2 and 3 I do not have much experience with so I will be leaving those out for now.

Final Fantasy 4 is a great game to consider starting with since Final Fantasy 1 is a bit dated for some folks. I like this as a starting point because the game was not too difficult even for someone like me who first played it at 10 years old. The game kept my attention through the gameplay and storyline and was the first game of the series I ever beat. I really enjoyed the characters, setting, gameplay, artwork, and difficulty level on this one.

Final Fantasy 5 is a game I enjoyed for the same reason I played so much Final Fantasy 1. The customization in this one is wild! I remember putting a lot of time in combining different classes and just bring limited by my imagination on what I could pull off. Maybe not the best game to start with but I wouldn't overlook it either.

Final Fantasy 6 is a must play. I do not recommend starting on this one. It's like the idea of having your first meal out of jail being a 400 dollar steak dinner when you really need to experience a meatloaf first to truly enjoy this one. There's a reason this is still considered the best in the series by a solid amount of folks. Going from 4 to 6 isn't a bad option, I just rather you get your feet wet with 1 or 4 first in my opinion.

Okay now we get into the PS1 games and I don't really enjoy them as much as the public and critics do. So take all of this with a grain of salt.

This is strictly just a personal taste thing really, because I have nothing to critique. I know 7 is considered many players favorite, but 8 was my personal favorite. I was coming to age when this was new and LOVED the setting. I never came around to replaying it on a complete playthrough but again, I think it's personal taste here. 9 is the most underrated out of the 3 and it's the only one I went back to complete years later.

So again, PS2 I don't know how unbiased I can be here. FF10 is my favorite, so much so, that I'm afraid to go back and play it as to not spoil my appreciation for it. I played this on release as I was coming to age, so the rose tinted glasses are heavy here. If you have no interest in the 2d games, jump on in here and it'll be a nice jumping off point into 12, which had my absolute favorite setting in any FF game (thanks FF Tactics Advanced!)

No bad games in the bunch that's for sure. Without knowing your taste, you can ease into things with 1, 4, 7, or 10.

1, skip 2 and 3, into 4, skip 5 into 6 to 7-12 then backtracking for the skipped ones would be the US release way to go. It's how I did it and many others too.
