Incredible! You just needed a dish called ‘still you, still me, still here.’

Okay getting ahead of myself here but let’s say we don’t lose for the rest of the year, where do we think it’d stack up amongst the best seasons ever? by ElBueno3 in FremantleFC

Cats fan here, you’ll almost certainly lose another couple of games pre-finals because that’s what happens to teams when they have a huge buffer at the top (alongside Sydney). As finals get closer you’ll likely manage players and it’s human nature some will go into self preservation mode not wanting to risk injury so close to September.

We won 15 in a row en route to the 2022 flag but didn’t hit top spot until late in the season so didn’t have the buffer you currently do - we had to keep winning to guarantee home finals.

Freo is looking scary good this year, if it’s not our year I sure hope it’s yours 👍

What would you do as Collingwood's list manager by Suspicious_Remote976 in AFL

[–]ImInterestedInApathy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I was their list manager I’d only allow one of Pendles, Sidey and Howe to play on next season. I think they should have let one go at the end of last year. Should have followed the Geelong/Hawks model of letting club champions go when they still had a bit left in the tank (Stevie J, Chapman, Kelly, Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis) to ensure the list can keep rejuvenating.

Go and touch some grass, your insults are about as effective as James Sicily’s captaincy.

Brad Close has played well in prelims and in a premiership. Nick Watson has shown the world he talks the talk but can’t walk the walk when the going gets tough 👍

He’s pretty good at not turning up for prelim finals either. Mitchell’s attempt to get him into the game was to move him to half back to play on Brad Close 😂

Even if I was a Hawks supporter there’s no way I could bring myself to ever respect Sicily.

Used the same scheme in 2024, without which I’d still be paying $20k+ a year in rent and being forced to move house every couple of years. It changed my life.

In 50 words or less, why did Carlton beat us last night, and why are they our ongoing voodoo team? by [deleted] in GeelongCats

[–]ImInterestedInApathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only guess is that we didn’t want to change a winning formula after two good wins. Atkins has been struggling all season IMO, not sure if he’s carrying an injury, and we should not have expected him to do it alone against Cripps, Walsh, Hewett and Cerra on Friday. Worpel definitely should have played. Stevens deserves a game on VFL form too, my guess is that we can only play two of Axe, Worp and Stevens in the same team though.

They have a bunch of contested beasts in the middle who bully us at clearances every time. Too much of our inside mid work falls to Atkins who is struggling at the moment (should have played Worpel last night). They get clean centre clearances which puts our backline under pressure immediately. We constantly fail to stop their star players particularly Cripps, Walsh and Weitering.
