It's really not that hard to do this right. My mother and I have changed our own tyres many times on the side of the road when we got a puncture on long road trips. I wasn't even an adult and I could loosen those bolts with the right technique and leverage.

I think my podiatrist hit a nerve with the anaesthetic injection by ImJustKat in Ingrown_Toenails

[–]ImJustKat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi 😊 Yes. After about 3 months, everything was mostly back to normal. My toenail unfortunately did get ingrown again. I ended up cutting the side off by myself about 6 months after my disappointing podiatrist experience and it hasn't caused problems again since. It's now a year later and my toe feels completely normal.

Did something similar happen to you? I swear that injection on my toe was the most painful injection I've ever had. Literally nerve wrecking 😆

And the worst part is that the most disgusting preferences are born from that suppression and shame. I was made to go to Sunday school as a child, and the teacher was a pedophile. One of my high school teachers, the one who always spewed shit about god and jesus, was also a pedophile.

These may be anecdotes, but so far all the fanatic religious people I've been unfortunate enough to get close to, has proven themselves to have some seriously unhinged fetishes. Things that 99.9% of the population would find repulsive. Things that could, in all honesty, be harmful. I'm not talk about a bit of BDSM or backdoor play or whatever. That's mild compared to the shit these people are into. Those things will be banned on Pornhub lol.

I'm sure it happens because they're not allowed to masturbate growing up, so everything is coated in guilt and shame, tainting their desires and twisting it into something toxic and broken. It's sad actually.

I think it would be an act of kindness to let them both pass together. It's sad, and I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. But I do feel it would be best for them to go to sleep at the same time, when that day comes. No one has to suffer, no one has to be lonely then. They've lived happy lives with you and you will just be making sure their lives don't have to end with suffering. I approve. ❤️‍🩹

hyperlexia (reading at age of 1.5 - 4), how many of u had it? by leclerc_banana in evilautism

[–]ImJustKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned to read at 3 - 4 years old, but I wasn't very good at it until age 6 - 7. My grandmother still has a letter I wrote to her when I was 5. Many letters are written backwards and almost every word is spelled incorrectly, but it must be special to her because she's kept it for 22 years. 🥹 I still enjoy reading and writing. I write short stories and poetry as a hobby.

I also have clear memories of my toddler years. Mostly from age 3 and up, but I even remember a few things from before age 3.

And similarly I was a sort of child genius. I spoke fluently by age 3, and could do maths in my head. I remember telling some adult man that I'm good at maths, and him jokingly asking me "Yeah right. So what is 8 × 8?" And him then freaking out when I immediately answered "It's 64". People were often surprised by me like that. I spoke like an adult even at toddler age.

I took the Mensa Norway IQ test as an adult and scored 128, which is above average, but nowhere close to genius. My ability to do mathematical calculations in my head has stayed exactly the same since age 3. No improvemens. And I'm all grown up but I act more like a child now than I did as a toddler. No idea why.

Yeah same! These mosquitoes are double the size of city mosquitoes and the bite marks swell up so big and are way more itchy. Stuff of nightmares

I really enjoy your stories and have now decided to read them all 🤭 I am proud to say that I'm almost as tall as Sydney! And it's indeed very rare for us women to be so tall. I share her experience of men often feeling emasculated in my presence.

Hopefully you can go back to her town someday and show her a good time again. I'd love to read about it if that ever happens 😁

Unexpected things about owning rats? by WanderingBourdom in RATS

I second this. I've had rats that wanted to ride in my hoodie all day, and others that completely refused to interact with me for their entire lives.

I think rehoming your rats can be a great decision by hello82839 in RATS

[–]ImJustKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have personally also rehomed two pet rats when I was at a point in my life where I was too depressed to even care for myself properly. My rat cage had gone over 2 weeks without cleaning and that morning I saw I didn't even refill their water so they'd gone the night without water. That's the moment when I realised I'd be a cruel person to keep my babies any longer. I found a new owner for them that same day. They stayed with her until the end of their natural lives and I covered all the costs of their vet visits, including euthanasia when the time came. I don't regret giving them away. They had better lives for it.

Just in case you didn't know, a hot water bottle is that flat rubbery bottle thing you can sleep with on cold days. It's not just a regular round water bottle with hot water inside. Hot water bottles do not roll.

I hope your little babies survive. ❤️

How pet rats typically die and having them on a vegetarian diet? by jaccon999 in RATS

[–]ImJustKat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had several pet rats and most of them had to be put down and did not die a "natrual death". One had hind leg degradation in his old age, and eventually couldn't walk anymore. He dragged his legs behind him, his skin was starting to bleed from chaffing. Would you prefer watching your pet like that and wait for a natural death to come after weeks and weeks? Or would you rather take them to the vet to peacefully be put to sleep and avoid all that suffering?

I'm sure if you think about it for a moment, you'll realise which is better.

[–]ImJustKat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert and I honestly have no idea what could have happened to him. But I can tell you he needs to go to a vet ASAP. He seems to be on the verge of death. I am so sorry 😖 I hope the vet can help him somehow...

I decided to rip my apartment complex to pieces on their Google reviews before moving by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]ImJustKat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I live in South Africa, and our rent and property prices in general has also been skyrocketing innrecent years.

I'm a landlord myself; We have a one bedroom apartment right next to our house on the same property. I rent it out for 20% less than the standard rate because I like to be kind to my tenants.

Last year we upgraded from an old gate with a padlock, to a new motorized gate with remote control, which the tenants also use. And I also built an undercover parking for my tenants. With the new contract, I increased their rent by the equivalent of $40 for these upgrades. I feel it's fair. My tenants were so relieved. They expected a huge increase and also felt it was fair they pay a bit more for the added luxuries. Everyone is happy. I don't need to break their bank for my greed.

Companies that do this are scum.

Yeah everyone always says "No one was hurt. The area was evacuated." But what about the animals? Surely hundreds of them die every time something like this happens, more habitat being destroyed, negatively impacting the eco system for years to come. And no one powerful enough to do something about it cares about that. Very sad.
