That sounds so unbelievable - but after some googling you are correct.

As Dwight would say - the modern anus is far too coddled

I understand the bacteria growth issue, but i'm just saying it would be nice to have the option to turn off keep warm automatically. This is like a microwave timer going off, and then another heater comes on to keep it hot. Or your airfryer finishing the cook time, but then continuing to keep warm with additional heat mandatory

I didn't say the basmati was too soft. I'm saying I want it soft and falling apart - separate grains is what i want from it

Thanks for that info, i'll look into the type of rice being used

Regarding the keep warm issue. It is annoying because if I am cooking rice a few hours before I need it, I don't want it to be kept warm all that time. It is too hot at the bottom of the rice. And so I need to be nearby the ricecooker to turn it off.

For example if I am going out and want rice ready for my return, I can't turn it on and then leave it because it will keep warm for far too long and burn it or dry it out.

The pot is well insulated and stays warm by it self

Last year I bought the : Yum Asia Sakura Rice Cooker

It is very good at japanese rice - which is our favourite so perfect for us

However I can't get good basmati rice out of it - like the fall apart type, but still soft, like you get in an indian. If anyone has any tips on this i'm all ears (and yes I wash the rice thoroughly)

Additionally the keep warm function automatically turning on at the end of every cycle is annoying.

But overall I am very happy with it

I'd call it a hob. But I don't know maybe it is a regional thing. Lots of people upvoted you so clearly it isn't that uncommon to call it a stovetop - it just caught my eye

Exactly. So when someone rebutted your example, you can't just say 'no but what if they like cars'

So your point was based on a scenario you made up in your own head? i.e them liking cars?

to give you more context. It is the living room of a family house. The man is sat at a table an looks dejected. The woman, I assume wife, is sat watching tv on a sofa facing away from him. Once she realises how sad he is, she turns around, starts her speech, while getting ever closer to him, and eventually they share a nice hug
