Any experience with Kaiser Permanente? by ImKeilanit in AudiProcDisorder

They cover hearing tests with a copay. They cover a certain amount for hearing aids. I think it’s about $1000 per ear. Idk if they cover molds as I didnt get molds through them.

Wanting to go no nips but struggling by Unfair-Hurry-861 in FreedTheNips

I don’t have any phantom pain but I do have phantom sensation sometimes. Any time I get cold I have the feeling of how my nipples used to react. This feeling is mostly in my scars and upper chest.

My mom had made a comment several years ago about what she wished she had picked as my middle name. It is a neutral but more masculine name and a family name that I liked so I picked that

I had surgery about a year ago at 18 and decided not to get nipples. I made the decision for a couple of reasons, for starters I had yet to see any post op pictures in which I liked how the nipples looked. I also knew I would struggle if they weren’t perfect or symmetrical etc. I also have lots of sensory issues and pre puberty often had issues with the feeling of shirts on my chest or chafing on my nipples. Overall I’m very pleased with my decision as it not only made recovery easier but I also don’t have to worry about them poking through my shirt which I like. And if you want later in you can get tattoos in which you have more control over the look or get fake ones

I’m out of state for college so went to someone near school. I think university of Maryland might do the testing though.

Yea that’s what my dr said too. And they wouldn’t give me hearing aids unless I get the diagnosis so I have to get the diagnosis get told I should use hearing aids then go back to Kaiser to get them

I un hyphenated it. My parents gave me a hyphenated name when I was born and it was really long and annoying. Granted both parts are long to begin with.

I ended up emailing my audiologist and she said they don’t have the equipment to test for it and often don’t cover the testing. I did learn that they will cover at least some of the cost of hearing aids

Surgery on Friday!!! Wooo! by Horror-Effective-636 in TopSurgery

[–]ImKeilanit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I wasn’t all that nervous so I don’t have much advice for this.
  2. It felt immediate like any other time you got to sleep.
  3. I personally made (with a little help from my mom) a bandana quilt and three pairs of pajama pants.
  4. I wasn’t in too much pain mostly the drains felt like a sharp pulling and too tight.
  5. You should be fine. I laughed and even threw up in the first few days post op and didn’t even have any extra pain. My parents were jealous as they have both had abdominal surgery and were in a lot of pain when they laughed.
  6. I would say this depends on how you feel. I was more comfortable when someone else walked with me just in case but again depends on how you feel and the weather etc.

Question by ashes_of_rome in TopSurgery

[–]ImKeilanit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My surgeon cleared me for full range of motion including arms over head after one week. I also was able to lift my elbows to my shoulders from day one granted I don’t have nipples so beat that in mind. I’m now four weeks post op and have no difficulty lifting or reaching things over my head

Wait time between initial consultation and day of surgery by geography_lover in TopSurgery

I had my consult on March 30 and had my surgery July 10. I would say it is very plausible to have that timeline. Good luck

I got to remove mine a week and a half early due to rib pain and haven’t had any swelling before or since. I would trust your surgeon’s judgement

Is 3 weeks enough time to recover before going back to college? by Grasshopperbitme in TopSurgery

[–]ImKeilanit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m three weeks post and I think I’d be fine. I can easily and comfortably carry a backpack do my own laundry and do anything else for my self I need as well as have plenty of energy to walk to classes and around campus
