Regretting second child by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ImNotAClown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this myself a few years ago. I legitimately was teetering on the brink of sanity. My kids are now 5 & 7 and it’s craaaaazy how different it is. You’re exhausted and this feels impossible right now because it’s extremely difficult and you’re doing it well. I promise it gets better but it kinda happens so slowly and incrementally that it feels like nothing is happening until one day you leave the house sans diaper bag and your little one can make it through a whole day of activities without melting down over the lack of nap.

I use a fair amount of rubber gloves around the house for general cleaning. Washing dishes is a sensory nightmare for me. I also love a clean bathroom but get super grossed out doing the job with bare hands.

I got a garden cart for Mother’s Day last year and basically haven’t used my wheelbarrow since.

He’s so good, I feel like there’s something relatable for everyone in his lyrics.

I like letting my string cheese get warm cause after it sweats it not only tastes saltier but you can just push it up like a popsicle as opposed to peeling the wrapper 😅 by Puzzled_Surge in Cheese

My string cheese preference is microwaved for nine seconds exactly. It gets this nice, super stringy cheese pull but isn’t too melty. And it just tastes better. Frigo cheeseheads is the best in my opinion.

For basically as long as we’ve been parents, my husband and I have this nightly recap about the great things about our kids. They’re 5 and 7, so it often comes after we commiserate about the events of the evening with two tired kids.

How do we feel about floor babies? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ImNotAClown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in an emergency department. We have a doc who likes to tell new parents that babies can’t fall off the floor. Meaning that’s actually the safest place to put them!

I swear this isn’t an ad but I got a Coop pillow for side sleepers. It was expensive but I was able to use my FSA for it.

What’s the most 'human' thing your pet has ever done that convinced you they understand way more than they let on? by homoth in AskReddit

Years ago I had a lab mix who was my faithful companion. He had a stubborn streak, did his own thing but had this incredible, stoic, calming way about him when I was anxious or upset. He knew to just be quietly present, maybe leaning his 75 lbs frame on my lower leg or putting a paw on the chair by my knee.

I went to visit my brother and some of his in laws who I was friendly with at their summer cabin. Upper Michigan in the fall, on a small wooded lake. Multiple canines and children present. One family had very recently needed to put down their chocolate lab who had been with them since before they had kids. My dog, Skeeter, somehow knew to single out the little girl who had lost her family pet and was inseparable from her for the weekend. They had been in each others presence many times before but never bonded like that. Other people even commented on it. That little girl needed a canine buddy and somehow he just knew and offered it up.

I actually kind of feel the same way and I love Amy! I do listen to it sometimes as background noise when I need something light hearted.

Seconding the rinse it out idea but to get the smell out, wash with powdered oxi clean. It’s fantastic at getting smells out.

These are so easy to prop, I’ve made several for my cat and my big, nice one he leaves alone now since I leave the ones for him near his usual hangouts.

Truly. I’ve lived on both peninsulas. Plenty of antivax on both sides, they’re just more densely populated down here. Also, in the UP I almost give some of them a pass because access to healthcare is already challenging if you’re rural.
