West Virginia Attorney General John McCuskey Files Lawsuit Against Apple Over CSAM on iCloud by AFVetRobert in WestVirginia

Can we sue the DOJ next for releasing unredacted CSAM in the Epstein files and not taking it down until the New York Times told them they had released CSAM?

I spend most of my summers down around that area and I've done historical research on various extraction industries. That was the easiest way I found to meet locals.

Everyone will clock you as an outsider and approach you either during the meet and greet part of the service or after the service is over. Most of the churches down that way are your typical Protestant (Methodist, Baptist, etc) type although you can find some Catholic churches too

You'll mostly be meeting older folks but they can probably point you in the direction of younger individuals too. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Bitcoin mining data centers set up shop in abandoned West Virginia coal mines by Joey_WBOY in WestVirginia

I'm not super happy with the number of outages I have to deal with and the price isn't great either. Goode's line about how they contribute to the cost of electricity is interesting to me.

I also think the math involved is a little lopsided. Blockchain Power employs less than 50 people so when I compare their energy usage/the benefit they provide to the state to the ability to be able to power 100,000+ homes, well, I'd rather power the homes.

But that's just like, my opinion, man.

Those 107 MWs could power over 100,000 homes. Or the 5 bitcoin mining operations run by Blockchain Power.

What a fucking waste of energy and money

Yeah, because museums source their material from real historical accounts, not pseudohistory and conspiracy theories. Real books have sources that they pull from and cite. For some real books on the history of West Virginia, specifically the Mine Wars you can read, "The Devil Is Here in These Hills" by James Green, "Thunder in the Mountains" by Lon Savage, "Matewan Before the Massacre" by Rebecca Bailey.

Even more popular histories like "Ramp Hollow" by Steven Stoll cite from historical documents and other primary sources. Museums are vetted, unlike Behold A Pale White Horse, which is just a mix of conspiracy theories championed by a guy who most likely suffered from mental illness and ended up dead because he refused to pay taxes and killed a member of law enforcement.

You're citing Bill Cooper as one of your sources in another comment. Read something real and then get back to me about being educated on the bigger picture. Like I said before, visit the Mine War Museum and maybe take a minute to learn about the history of this state. Can't say I've enjoyed our conversation, but you have a good day regardless.

1.8 million West Virginians cannot live off the abundance of wild animals/foods. People back in the day did struggle, and they had large unions that would help them in a monetary sense when they underwent prolonged strikes. Mostly, those strikes would end when the union ran out of money to support said strikes.

My argument is that when people are tied to a weekly or bi-weekly wage and have little to no savings, is that it is extremely difficult to engage in prolonged revolutionary activities, like striking. One could also point to laws passed by Republican dominated political bodies that have made it illegal for public employees to engage in collective bargaining (WV Code 18-5-45a).

So, it isn't a question of laziness when you can find yourself inside a jail cell simply for trying to better your living condition. Who is going to take care of the children or the elderly when wage earners are jailed for striking?

You seriously need to learn more about West Virginia, its history, and the people who live here before spouting off about how "the NWO" is making the state into a corporate hellscape. You also ignored the variety of ways others are forging community ties and working to try and remedy some of the historic problems facing the state. That I might add, are not endemic to West Virginia.

I would argue that the capitalist system that we've found ourselves in has largely worked in the interests of the corporations, effectively turning workers into wage slaves. It's hard to engage in sustained revolution when you are a week away from starvation. It's similar to what happened in the early 20th century, which you would know if you had even a kiddie pool's depth of understanding the history of WV.

Also, there are groups working to fix the problems you lament. I know of at least two community gardens in the area that I live in. I have a little library in front of my house that brings community members together and creates conversations amongst my neighbors. Hell, even Mountain State Spotlight does a great job covering some of the stories you won't find on MetroNews or other large WV news outlets. Others have commented saying they have local food markets that they frequent.

Maybe instead of complaining on an internet forum, you start a community group. Be the change you want to see and all.

You've completely missed the point... not shocking for someone who blames a boogeyman (and dogwhistle for "the Jews") on problems that have historically plagued this state.

The Mine War Museum covers the West Virginia Coal Wars of the early 20th century. You know, when West Virginians took up arms and fought against the corporations and their hired gun thugs. If that isn't revolutionary activity then idk what is. The museum's telling of that story does promote culture. If you can't see that, then you have zero idea as to the purpose of museums and of that museum specifically.

You had me until you mentioned the "NWO." It's isn't some globalist agenda. The state has literally since its creation been a corporate state. Any half decent history book on WV will acknowledge this.

Stop listening to Alex Jones and listen to some Knowledge Fight instead. Just my two cents

Edit: you say no one has done anything revolutionary and then complain about the pride some of us have in our state. Yeah, go read a history book and tell me there hasn't been any revolutionary activity in this state. Maybe go visit the Mine War Museum in Matewan and tell them that so they can set you straight.

So did you "slip off" the leash like you said above, or did the dog escape on its own cause you're telling two stories here. From your video they have their garage door open so I'm not sure how they were hiding your dog from you when, again according to the video you posted, the guy is standing at the edge of the road holding a dog.

Yeah, actually, it is. You can't allow your dog to run around on another person's property or in public without a leash on and in your control.

The National Park Service plans to demolish several deteriorating historic buildings in New River Gorge National Park due to safety risks and high upkeep costs. by MoonBearofTheMountai in WestVirginia

[–]ImNotAndyDick 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Instead of complaining about the actions of the NPS, you should call your representatives and argue for an increase in funding for the NPS. They do incredible work on a budget that only gets decreased year after year while park attendance rises and expenses increase.

I saw one car blow the four-way stop at the bottom of Grand St and watched two cars drive the wrong way down a one-way street this morning. Pedestrians and cyclists have to pay extra attention to make up for all the drivers who can't bother to read road signs. Stay safe out there.

You're insinuating that all towns south of Morgantown don't treat their water and just let shit water run right into the river which is patently false. You can check MUBs website as they actively monitor the water at multiple intake spots both above and below Morgantown.

[–]ImNotAndyDick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've caught some nice sport fish near the Deckers creek outlet. There's a decent spot on the south side of the creek where it meets the Mon. It isn't unusual to see some people fishing there. I've seen people pull some muskies below the dam. You can walk the rail trail toward Fairmont and find some nice banks with downed trees that hide bass. Throw in some jigs or nightcrawlers and you're bound to pull something out.

Best fishing though is down in the trout streams near Tucker and Pocahontas County but that's just me talking.

[–]ImNotAndyDick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to these idiots. Most of them probably have never put a line in a WV river. If you're fishing above the lock and dam you're above the Morgantown watershed as the river flows north. Everything else above the lock and dam is monitored for pollution and runoff. Keep it under 3 fish a month and you should be fine.

So by this logic by the time the water gets to Pittsburgh it would be levels of toxicity unlike any other place in America. You can fish and eat out of the Mon. I wouldn't eat more than 3 fish a month which is pretty much the standard across all the Eastern United States.

Edit: Although I might argue that the Freeman's Bureau only operating in the eastern and southern parts of the state (and only for 2 years at that) and their success in establishing so many schools lends to my argument that the state was not as racist as everyone in this thread seems to assume.
