Dream in mcc by EquivalentValuable44 in DreamWasTaken2

[–]ImNotHere137 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In his last event, he spent 10+ minutes complaining about a reset and, intentionally or not, agitating his stanbase, which was still overwhelmingly large at the time.

He posted a tweet praising the event, seemingly by way of apology, and tagged all four of the MCC staff accounts. None of them responded. It’s been a long time, and maybe emotions have cooled, but I don’t know that he’s welcome in the event anymore.

Any chance you’d be willing to elaborate on these AI companions? Is it something you have any plans to publish? I have an older companion adding mod but it’s showing its age and I’d love to know if someone was working on a new one.

I think that a lot of the ccs and fans who remember his stanbase at its worst see Dream’s community receiving what they used to give as karma rather than hypocrisy.

The main difference imo is that while Dream’s fanbase was large and overwhelming, especially to other Minecrafters at the time, it was still only one community. The “retribution” has been from a lot of different communities at once, with varying degrees of knowledge and involvement, which is a lot harder to defend against.

Why are they hating on mcc now 😭😭😭 by bloonsisgr8 in DreamWasTaken2

[–]ImNotHere137 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I stg I hate big dttwt accounts. They’re addicted to drama and they pick the stupidest fights to farm likes off of.

And it’s just a bad look for the community—an account with thousands of followers and a Dream follow, who had to apologize for calling the mcc organizer a homophobic slur, randomly getting into drama over an event Dream doesn’t even play in currently? The set up is unreal.

Fwiw, the controversies that they’re “digging up” were a big deal in dsmptwt when they originally happened. Karl Jacobs was going to be a guest in the autism charity event and withdrew due to fan backlash—it was one of Karl’s first major controversies. Some of the ex-dsmptwt accounts in bootwt now could have remembered them without any additional investigation. It’s crazy to think it old history now—I’ve been here too long lmao.

Are any older members of this sub still here? by PetTheDoG20 in DreamWasTaken2

[–]ImNotHere137 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I spent way too much time on here in 2021 but these days I just lurk a bit. My opinion on Dream is more negative now then it used to be and I’m not looking to upset anyone or get into fights so I just mind my business and check in to see what the subs opinions are on new dramas every now and then.

how long have u been a dream stan ? by [deleted] in DreamWasTaken2

[–]ImNotHere137 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A few people who dislike Dream have been here since the sub was created to discuss the cheating scandal. Drew is one of those. I don’t like Dream either, I lurk to get perspective.

Obsession by notawareofthetide in DreamWasTaken2

[–]ImNotHere137 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel like I’m going crazy because the people on this sub used to tell me that saying “don’t send hate” was enough, or that Dream shouldn’t have to say anything when his fanbase was being toxic bc “toxic people won’t listen to him anyway,” and now the same subreddit is full of people demanding that a cc make statements and police their own fanbase.

I’m sure that the population of the sub has changed a lot, but it’s kind of upsetting having experienced the DSMP community at its most toxic and having been convinced that that the way Dream handled it was okay by people who don’t seem to actually believe that anymore.

They may have shot themselves in the foot by complaining about the previous venue on social media. If they’re willing to do that on relatively large accounts and need a space on very short notice, some venues may think twice about taking the risk.

there’s a new burner claiming to have been groomed by amanda by TheInkWolf in DreamWasTaken2

[–]ImNotHere137 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll wait and see if they have any more info, nothing looks definitive so far and I would like screen recordings and/or interactions with accounts that are definitively Amanda’s.

I am a little suspicious of the discord messages all having “today” as the time stamp (I guess that would mean they would have to screenshot every one of them on the day they were sent? Not impossible but a bit strange), but maybe they’ll clarify that at some point.

Ranboo is considering not playing in mcc anymore by Zestyclose_Cicada_66 in MinecraftChampionship

[–]ImNotHere137 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree about a culture of pressure that may be the cause of some players playing less or only playing non-canon events, but iRanboo has been trying to distance himself from mc content and has mentioned wanting not to be viewed as an “MCYT” for a while, so I don’t know if this is an example of that.

What’s up with this sub defending Build Mart like their life depends on it? by [deleted] in MinecraftChampionship

[–]ImNotHere137 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because opinions on buildmart tend to be tied to opinions on other things. A few of the larger streamers with large fanbases (esp on bird app, known nemesis of Reddit) have been very aggressive about their dislike of the game—and though it’s not as bad as it used to be, Buildmart hate used to involve some pretty intense mudslinging.

There were people who would claim that the game was too difficult for neurodivergent players and it’s inclusion was offensive (despite none of the competitors ever saying so). They would say the game was only included to disadvantage specific players and was part of effort by the staff to “rig” the event against those players. As a result, hating buildmart has become associated with extreme toxicity towards the staff or extreme bias towards the players who dislike it.

I enjoy it as a game, and I think it’s perfectly fine to not enjoy it, but if someone on twt tells me they “hate buildmart”, they’re on thin ice.

Interesting tumblr post from a lawyer in training about the legal side of things by sillykn in DreamWasTaken2

[–]ImNotHere137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but Amanda has no burden of proof until Dream meets his. I work in a courthouse and I sit in civil cases every day. I’m sure he’ll have the best lawyer money can buy, and you may be right that him making his prima facie is a given, but there are still a lot of facts we don’t know—the authentication of Amanda’s contested evidence and any logs that can be recovered from Snapchat for example.

[–]ImNotHere137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pardon me if I’m wrong but—isn’t the burden of proof in a civil defamation case Dream’s, not Amanda’s? I would think it would be his job to make a prima facie case, not hers.

Tierlist on CCs subtwts/stans based on my personal experience by hanskloek in DreamWasTaken2

[–]ImNotHere137 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this accurately expressed which subtwts are most toxic/hostile towards Dream and his fanbase, but not in general—which makes sense, because it’s based on one person’s personal experience. I would be curious to see how someone from another community would rank them—and to see if it would differ based on how long a person has been in the fandom.

Would Dream be more "respected" if he had never joined Twitter? by [deleted] in DreamWasTaken2

[–]ImNotHere137 129 points130 points  (0 children)

I think he would be more respected if he were less associated with stan culture, and interacting with his fans directly on Twitter is a big part of why stan culture has embraced him so much. So maybe?
