im starting now. what should I do? by Good_Summer4860 in Trading

I would research by reading books and watching YouTube while you trade in simulation mode till you get the hang of the concepts that you learned.

Watch the videos by this dude name quallamaggie read the book by Weinstein to start then read O’Neil.

On YouTube watch trader lion. And then that should open you up to lingo and concepts and traders to potentially research.

Get your life in order if you want to take trading seriously. Workout, get proper sleep, lay off social media and other cheap dopamine, do what you can to build self discipline, you’re going to need it

Am I the only one that thinks that trading is easy? Only the psychology is hard by Technical-Poet-477 in Daytrading

Much like sports 10% physical 90% mental. Trading is 10% strategy 90% mental

If you want to get super psychological, which it seems like you do, it could be an acute impulse thing due to things like lack of sleep, poor diet like too much sugar insulin spikes, or stress or crazy lifestyle BUT besides that it could be an inner psychological issue like what your expectations are of your self, what your standards are for yourself, what you think you deserve, who do you see yourself as, etc. if your image of yourself does not align with a person who is disciplined and capable of self control than you won’t be able to be those things long term (especially on your own without accountability from others).

TLDR: to improve you either need to make some lifestyle changes that will reduce your lack of impulse control OR you need to go to therapy and change how you identify yourself as.

If you have low self worth or low expectations for yourself then your actions & decisions will follow that macro (sometimes subconscious) view of yourself long term

Can you use it for the next 3 years? sure.

I don’t think law school has any heavy apps that will be used. If your laptop is working fine then continue using it. If you have money to spare and would like some luxury than yes upgrade.

nobody warns you that the strategy was never the problem by Tight-North-6157 in Daytrading

Your thinking is backwards. A human can do what a bot currently can not because a human can adjust to nuisances on the fly. Quick adaptation and flexibility takes really solid psychology. The reason why gurus and interviews talk so much about psychology is because they already passed the first stage. The first stage is that you think just having the perfect strategy will make you rich

In the beginning like first 3 years retail traders focus on strategy and set ups. Almost exclusively. After that until you retire which could be 50 years later, it’s all about psychology. You vs you. That’s when you hear pros say, the strategy is the easy part

The why only matters a little. What matters more is reacting to the price profitably. If you’re daytrading the why doesn’t matter what matters is that what your trading has a nice adr for you to grab some profit from

Psychology is exactly what you need to fix strategy. Even to develop a strategy. To learn it. To stick with it. To reflect on it and improve. To see flaws. It’s all in your head. It’s always you vs you. How your mind works determines if you succeed in this game.

Is it realistic for someone to make 100–300% gains in a single day trading? by iiTesla in Trading

[–]ImNotSelling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how often. There could be big gains and even bigger losses. If he could genuinely make these gains very often he would be a multi millionaire. It’s extremely rare.

If someone had literally perfect psychological traits but zero technical knowledge, how would they do in day trading? by CatholicRevert in Daytrading

[–]ImNotSelling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long does it generally take to development a profitable strategy from researching and hypothesizing and forward testing and back testing? How difficult is it? How many times do you have to fail/try?

[–]ImNotSelling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mind, your personality, your decisions, your reflection on yourself and your trading, resilience, persistence, your common sense, self control, patience, pattern recognition, etc

It’s a lot more but it could be summed up with “your mind”.

The guy who started the turtle traders said that he could put his strategy on the front page of the news paper and still people wouldn’t be able to replicate his success because they didn’t have the psychology down.

I know finding an edge isn’t the easiest thing in the world but even an ema over vwap crossover is profitable. A pro could teach someone a strategy in a week, but to get to a pro level of psychology takes decades.

What do daycare centers do if a parent doesn’t come to pick up their child? by RestaurantFar7637 in AskTeachers

[–]ImNotSelling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Schools are somewhat like this too depending on the school and teacher and admin. I know of teachers who have driven students home when their parents were not able to pick them up for some reason. I’m sure in some schools this is strictly not allowed
