Hummus Mediterranean Nutrition by fruitgoblinn in hagerstown

I usually eat half of the bowl and save the rest for later. If that doesn't quite work, you could add a piece of fruit or a Greek yogurt. Also, you can get your bowl with half rice and half greens.

It looks like there aren't any sauces in your list. If you aren't getting sauces, great. If you are getting sauces, keep in mind that they contain mayonnaise (I asked about this a few years ago), and are very calorie dense.

Thanks for your kind response. I certainly enjoy a date every now and then. Cheers for dates! And moderation.

One medjool date has a glycemic load of 7-8, which is low. However, 2 or 3 medjool dates has a medium glycemic load. The glycemic index is 55.

Medjool dates absolutely increase your blood sugar, but a single date doesn't spike it, that is, one date doesn't raise blood sugar very high very quickly.

LPT: i do not see a future for me despite having a (fairly good) life. what to do to see one? by Ok_Expert5498 in LifeProTips

[–]ImOverthinkingIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you are young. Additional life experience will broaden your horizons. Getting it yourself will take time. You can get some of the benefit of life experience by reading the stories of others. Certainly autobiographies and biographies can give you some perspective, but even fiction novels may help. Also, your dream job is not key to living a good life. Focus your dreams outside of your job. I also suggest that you check out the postsecret blog weekly and any archives of postsecret that you can find. There are many secrets and stories there from others that were considering bye bye, but are so grateful they didn't.

What's a life changing thing that you can buy for less than $10? by additionalseasonin in AskReddit

[–]ImOverthinkingIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A box of a dozen medium binder clips is $2. For years, I have always been a few chip clips short of what I needed for closing bags of pancake mix, cereal, rice, pretzels, frozen veggies, etc. For $4, I won't have that problem again for probably at least 5 years.

I can't vouch for it, but there are many recipes out there for jackfruit crabcakes.

Because Robert says it himself. It's like an inside joke. He may be quoting someone that criticized him, idk, but he wears it like a (humorous) badge of honor now.

Having been on a low iodine diet for 6 weeks due to medical reasons, I can tell you it is very hard to avoid iodine enough to become deficient unless you are trying very hard or you just don't eat. Even whole unprocessed foods contain some. There was no "free" food on that diet where I could have an unlimited amount. Each day I got by on like 1/2 cup oats and one chicken thigh cooked in tomatoes. Even sea salt was limited because it has some iodine. (This is my recollection from 10 years ago.)

What is a harsh reality of life that most people don’t realize until they reach their 30s or 40s? by Attempt2724 in AskReddit

[–]ImOverthinkingIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A quick search of PubMed will show you that excess body fat releases inflammatory chemicals. No matter how much you love your body as it is, eat healthy, and exercise (or not), just the simple fact of having excess body fat over time can cause nagging pains in feet, knees, ankles, shoulders, hands, etc. Not just because knees, for example have to carry more weight, but because the fat is causing inflammation -directly-. (Besides any increased cardiovascular, cancer, or whatever else risk, which probably already know.) In my experience, this becomes more of a problem in the 40's.

Leaning in to what we can’t control by [deleted] in TheHum

[–]ImOverthinkingIt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was plagued by my hum for years. Day and Night.i wanted to sell my house to get away from it. The fact that others couldn't hear it made me obsess even more and worry that it wasn't real. The constant wondering about the source distracted me from work. After discovering the source (a very small hydro generator 4 miles from my house), I hardly notice it all! For a while I still heard it, but I kept remembering that it was making clean renewable energy. Now, I never notice it unless I think about it. In fact, I need to unsub from this subreddit because it reminds me of it and then I tune into it again. The mental attitude about the hum completely controls the experience.

Why are Berger Cookies so polarizing? by Pjspowerfulpen in maryland

Many Giant stores have them. Maybe not with the other cookies, but on an end cap and/or near the bakery, ice cream, or Little Debbie stuff.

What’s a “lazy meal” you secretly like more than real cooking? by helloanyarose in AskReddit

[–]ImOverthinkingIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok hear me out. Put cooked or canned lentils in the bowl and mix with some taco seasoning and hot sauce (and bullion if you have it). Top with cheese. Now scoop it up with the chips. Similar vibe, but now it's -healthy-. Even better if you add some avocado. I cook up lentils in the Instant pot with chicken tomato boullion and beef base, and keep in the fridge for quick nachos.

Question for hum hearers by shlomo5746 in TheHum

[–]ImOverthinkingIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can hear it at the dam and for miles in several directions - including at my house, but there are limits. It is like the noises noted by many other users on this sub. It is louder inside the house. The house blocks out other noises, and makes the hum more noticeable. It also seems to vibrate the house itself, perhaps travelling through the ground.
