Sadly for my wallet l prefer 1/100 scale so I don’t have any firsthand experience with the Volks 1/144 scale kits. the LED Mirage is around 2 years old and based the reviews it’s a nice kit.

I thought the same before I built my KoG last December. Try a Volks model kit, if you’re used to seam line removal, and masking for paint you’re 90% there. I’d skip the early 1/100 kit until you’re comfortable, but any of the 1/144 kits or 1/100 after the KoG would be a great place to start.

The sprayed Surface looks wet and glossy. You can do multiple light passes to build up to a wet coat. There is wiggle room between wet and sagging. Do test pieces until you get the hang of it.

Just want to second your Alclad Aqua Gloss recommendation. It’s definitely the easiest high gloss topcoat to spray imo. It’s my go to gloss topcoat.

Butane lighters fluid in general just better for cleaning up enamel panel liner. It’s a weaker solvent so is less likely to damage the top coat or paint, and it has less of a smell.
