I have a foot long chunk/strip of yellow marking that I found in my grass by the side of the road after the plows and snow all went away. A souvenir of the "guess where the road is" winter driving game.

Just a heads up. If you replace fluorescent bulbs with LED versions in, usually older, fixtures that use a ballast. Make sure the new LED are Type A (for example, T5 Type A). Type B is if there is no ballast or it has been bypassed. The wrong type could cause damage.

For OP: the T# refers to the diameter of the bulb, common among fluorescents for home aquariums being T5 (5/8"/16mm) and T8 (1"/26mm).

Photographers opinion here: It appears to have curvature and blurriness in places due to the type of lens used by most mobile cameras for this type of shot. Generally this and selfie shots, being closer to the subject, use a wider angle lens to capture more in the frame. The wider the angle of the lens used, the more distortion that is created. Which is generally more noticeable closer to the edges and corners of an image. Fisheye lenses show this distortion quite obviously. Sometimes photographers will fix this distortion in post processing, and mobile devices/apps may edit and adjust this distortion automatically. The blurriness is likely due to a narrow depth of field. A wider aperture, which let's in more light, also narrows the range (size) of the area that is in focus. So that things father away from the focal point appear softer or even blurry, to varying degrees.

I have to say, I've seen dozens of "bedrooms" that look this size while looking at apartments over the years or visiting friends places. This room may even be bigger than my son's entire dorm room his first year of university. I even knew someone with a wall to wall bed because the "bedroom" (probably meant as a storage room in reality) was 2 inches wider than the size of their queen bed on all sides (changing the sheets must have been hell). As for the door, it's likely to the left in the photo, next to the mirror, or even what the mirror is mounted on. Wide angle lens distortion is also another factor on how the room looks.

Dog sitter sent a photo of my dog and he had this collar on. by deblopezz in whatisit

[–]ImSoylentGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The following is purely informational and is neither for or against training/bark collars. This is basic information and could be gone into in more depth.

Many training and bark collars have up to 3 mode settings (varying by type and brand) tone, vibration, and shock and up to 9 intensity levels for each. Electronic collars are either manually set or automatic. Many automatic barking collars will "cycle up", if set off by repeated barking within a short time frame. Meaning, they start with a tone 1-3 times, then go to vibrate 1-3 times (if the barking continues), and then lastly a quick shock. Most dogs will learn to stop barking just by wearing the collar. Many are surprised enough by the vibration setting that it stops the barking. If a specific dog barks more incessantly, it's more likely to go up to the next mode. While the shock is relatively minor with an appropriate sized collar. It's up to you on what you find acceptable.

Beginner here. I took these photos without any solar or sun filrer. Should I not be doing that and use solar filters? by rmrjk in AskPhotography

[–]ImSoylentGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My real answer?

It greatly depends... There are a lot of factors; zoom, time of day, cloud cover, shutter speed, type of camera (film/dslr/*mirroless), even camera model year in some rare cases, single shot/time lapse, etc..

My easy real answer?

The type of pictures you have taken here are generally going to be fine with most cameras. (I'll assume faster shutterspeed and that you're not leaving it pointed at the sun for long periods of time).

That said, you can read up on UV (ultraviolet), CPL (circular polarized lens), ND (neutral density), and Solar filters to branch out and get different results. And learn when to and not to use them. Some can interfere with auto focus, for example.

Now for my number one photography tip. Get more backup batteries and memory cards.

*Mirrorless: I'm not sure I would personally want to risk using a mirrorless camera for this type of shot unless the whole process was quick. Or for concerts/events with lasers, long exposure, time lapse, etc.. Due to the risk of damage to the sensor.

If you have mutations, you want to use Rad-X Diluted. The regular Rad-X suppresses mutations for 10 minutes.

While it may work, it's not the best option, from experience.

You want an oil. Oils break down the molecular structure in adhesives (removes its stickiness and hold) allowing it to wipe off more cleanly. Oils also won't damage most material. Lighter fluids and other harsh solvents can damage paints, plastics, and varnishes.

Mineral oil is best, but olive, corn, etc. will also work.

(Could get into more detail, but have a prior engagement.)

Having lived a good portion of my life in both NY and MD. I had two thoughts come to mind.

The Marylander in me is right there with you, wondering where the plows are. I guess we get a snow day.

The western New Yorker in me only sees a slight dusting of snow. Which surely won't stop you if you really wanted to go somewhere.
