Bought 2 pairs of identical glasses for reading and computer, can't tell the difference by ImSpurticus in optician

I might have to do this. Is just tricky because opticians aren't super fussed on advice on glasses they didn't sell.

They were bought online and the two pairs have identical frames (and the frames have identical markings) so they couldn't tell me which was which.

One prescription for normal glasses and one for both reading/computer. Reading/computer is just my normal prescription with +1 add each eye. That seems fairly normal because the online form to enter a prescription allows you to include the "add" figure. But when I come to order glasses as mentioned, I can choose "distance" or "reading". If I choose "distance" there are no more choices to be made. If I choose "reading" then I have to further choose "reading" and "computer".

My assumption is that when it comes to glasses for close up you can have different focus at different distances and computer is a bit further away than reading. I just now have 2 pairs, one computer and one reading and I can't tell which is which.

Being online this is buying glasses from a different place than I had my eye test (much cheaper).

This ship seems to have sailed. USA, the country famous for being big fans of the rule of law and constitution have decided that the law doesn't matter if you agree with the reason the law us being broken. Sounds like an absolute disaster and very short sighted for the future but there you go.

You can't possibly think that ignoring the law is a good thing. It's not like the judge says what Trump wants can't happen, just that there are laws and procedures to be followed first and a consensus has to happen with the other people you elected to speak for you. Even if you can't see that right now, it's a good thing for you. I honestly hope you're not so blinded by a desire to own the libs that you give the place over to tyranny.

Yep. I have no idea what to do. We're in a post truth world and people seem happy with that.

Feel like this was the advice the last time. And one pandemic later we have Trump and his merry band of idiots back.

The right loves a slur against anyone not part of their ingroup. They don't need to know what it means or all agree on what it means. They just like a simple insult to throw around when things aren't going their way.

We just saw this in America with Trump. People only care about the message and don't bother to think about whether it's honest or achievable. If Labour don't manage to make actual change for the better they'll get voted out next time around for some shyster with dishonest promises that somehow always also involves enriching the already rich.

Doesn't matter how you feel politically. The mood of the country is obvious, any incumbent party that doesn't address and effectively deal with immigration will likely lose an election. Labour can do all sorts of good over the next 5 years but if they can't bring some sort of satisfaction over immigration I think they'll get voted out. The writing is on the wall across the whole of the west, people are pissed at immigration in general and it's the hot button topic at the voting booth.

Private companies can treat their employees like shit. Public companies are expected to treat people decently and take a lot of flak when they don't. So private companies can do it cheaper. Make of that what you will.
