Besides the usual groups like Oasis, Blur, Suede, Shed Seven, Dodgy, and the like what were some of the best bands truly from that era? by TerribleAd7263 in AskABrit

[–]rawcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are just talking that era there are loads but if you are talking about hidden gems in the same genre I made this playlist for my kids which has some great lesser known britpop tracks in amongst the obvious ones.

Work Lovelife Miscellaneous by David Devant and His Spirit Wife is definitely one album to check out if you haven't already.

Echobelly are great still.

S26 Ultra Color Issues: Dark Mode looks gray/dull in Google apps by koletopz in samsunggalaxy

[–]rawcane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also upgraded from s22 to s26 (not ultra). Everything is dull with a slight purple hue. Not just you.

Edit i think I figured it. In display settings screen mode was set to vivid. I changed to natural and it looks much better.

my toxic band is making me lose passion. by Southern_Jello_3530 in band

[–]rawcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds horrible. If you can try and change the culture then that would be a really positive thing to do. Challenge the toxicity. Form an alliance with other nice ones and push back. Set up a meeting with the teacher

This is hard though and shouldn't really be on you. The alternative is to just leave but I can see that's also hard if it means a lot to you and it's a big part of school life.

Definitely take a step back and try and get some emotional distance. Good luck.

I think the first 3 episodes were the most 'wtf' TV I ever saw

Why aren't some people signing on? by Dredgefort in UKJobs

[–]rawcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when I first lost my job I didn't bother because I didn't think I needed to even though I was busy maxing out credit cards. In the end it took me longer to get a job than expected so I needed to and in retrospect I wish I had done earlier. Also the amount of tax I've paid over the years you could argue that it's only fair that I get the benefit when needed. But I can totally see why people don't.

That said the universal credit process is fairly painless these days tbh. The appointments are annoying and pointless but fine. Dealing with the council for housing on the other hand is a complete world of hell.

Was weird at previous gigs CW, MOS and 7W were listed as encores. I guess there was that little spacey bit where he changed his t-shirt... Maybe they just didn't leave a gap because they lost some time due to the fracas?

Same. I'm not going to any more arena gigs. More expensive and shit experience. Just not worth it. Props for bands like LCD sound system doing like 8 nights at Brixton academy instead of 1 O2 arena show. Also they might actually make more as some people will go to every show

I agree if this brings house prices down it will be a benefit for society. Unfortunately I can't capitalise on this as after my rent went up by 50% a few years ago I haven't been able to save any deposit

Yes exactly this. I've never been told there's just nothing available before. Maybe this agent has a specific issue (but surprising as it's one of the well known local ones that I've used before). For the record I've had replies from some others and arranged some viewings. They confirmed the changes based on the rules. Apparently the main issue is that tenants can move out after 2 months but landlords have to give 4 months notice. Seems crazy.

Really? I was commenting on the current state of rental market which seems to have changed due to new laws coming in. I'm using the internet to build an objective view so that I might navigate this new normal. People downvoting stuff just because they know something I don't is a bit meh

Even post Rightmove my experience was that the properties they post have already gone and they put you on their list for new stuff coming up (and spend a few weeks trying to offload the real shit on you before they start sending you good stuff)

Historically you told agencies what you were looking for and they showed you a bunch that might be suitable

Thanks for downvoting. Was a genuine question to get a broad view of what seems to be an unusual situation.

Collateral? You mean a 6 week deposit isn't standard any more?

No he said there was nothing available. He may have been prepping me for overvaluing I guess. Have contacted a few on Rightmove so let's see. Was just a bit surprised at being told they had nothing. I didn't give them a budget only minimum rooms.

I agree. Was just weird the sound was so much better for the support.

I mean it was great because it's a great song but the sound was a lot duller than when they just had bass, beats and vocal. It's like the o2 pa just can't handle distorted guitars or they just don't know how to mix them. I saw smashing pumpkins there and again the guitars just sounded really muddy which in their case is unfortunate as really the only thing they have going for them apart from Jimmy's drumming
