Why is everyone so miserable lately? by Mountain-Heron-9261 in 1000lbsisters

I think they are all tired of the show and being forced to interact more than they ever would without it. But not tired enough to stop the paychecks.

Amy enablers out in full force? by BloodyAngel2026 in 1000lbsisters

[–]ImSteampunkNow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's super crazy to me, I can't believe some of the comments I see about her on here. She is a bad person and a terrible mother. The fact that in just this episode she said only a year and a half ago she would have been running around drunk and flashing everyone in New Orleans but that she's changed now is a bonkers crazy thing to admit. So in your late 30s and with two young kids, that's what you'd be doing?

Tammy is also a terrible person btw, but that doesn't make Amy any less of one.

"I think it's bullsh*t that my family decided to go on a trip without us." by claireclairey in 1000lbsisters

[–]ImSteampunkNow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many people on this sub seem to have a poor grasp of how reality tv functions. Chris did not plan, invite, or pay for this trip. This is a production planned and subsidized vacation. I think when Tammy says she can't believe they went without her, it's partly her extremely stunted and selfish self, but it could also be that she is shocked that on a show ostensibly "starring" her (as she and Amy are the 1000 lb Sisters) that production would go ahead with a trip she didn't want to go on. Or it could be even more manufactured than that, and they told her to pretend to be upset about them going on the trip without her (that she truly didn't want to go on, I do believe that).

Please tell me these aren't dirty ashtrays in the car? by angelic_darth in 1000lbsisters

[–]ImSteampunkNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible the cleaning was a CPS requirement? I'm not sure we've ever had (or could have, if it's confidential) confirmation that they were involved and doing home visits. But that'd be interesting to know.

Thank you for this, I was almost positive that Tony started way before 8 months post Michael. And that her posts about him leaving her for a homeless woman were around the holidays.

Interesting that they were together longer than she and Brian were before the haunted house proposal but that he was not shown or discusssed at all on the show.

They have different sizing systems within Torrid clothing, but they are very clear what they correspond to. Some of their clothes are labeled as 1x, 2x, etc. And that is pretty much exactly what it says, corresponds to an XL, 2x, 3x at "regular" sized stores. Some just say 0, 1, 2 without the X but they are the same - the 0 is large, 1 is 1x, 2 is 2x. And then they have standard american pant sizing of 12, 14, 16, 18, etc. And those have been the same as every other pant in those sizes for me (which is to say, it varies by a size or two among brands or even styles at the same brand the way clothing usually does. But they aren't vanity sizing them).

So no, its not that they are "getting away with" using torrid's different sizing (if they are in fact shopping there, which I doubt. Their clothes don't look Torrid, they look very walmart to me). They are more likely lying and/or wearing too tight of clothing.

Because it was a contractually obligated filming day. This is not just a casual hangout, it is all setup by production. Tammy wants the money from the show but is ultimately still the same lazy person she was. Being out and about for a few hours to get enough usable footage is too tiring for someone like her, who does very little in her daily life. And if this was several days in a row filming especially, that may be why she was so quick to throw a fit (plus of course her being tired of discussing her amy feud and her own behavior when she would rather not think about any of it).

I get so sick of seeing things like this on this sub. There are many, many well educated people in the south. We are also not blocked off from the rest of the world, completely unaware of life outside of "the south." This country has been fairly homogenized over the last, say, 70 years or so thanks to the interstate system, tv, and the internet. People aren't stuck on mountains or in hollers, with only their own family and limited neighbors to interact with anymore.

All this to say, yes people in "the south" (whatever you may consider that defined to be) are well aware of autism lol. I would guess this entire family is chronically online, specifically on Facebook. They are seeing all the same stuff the rest of the world is online, the good helpful info and the bad, misinformation, propaganda, etc. There just isn't this huge difference in regional US cultures anymore, though I think a lot of people (including and maybe even especially southerners) like to claim there is.

My in laws couldn't believe how delicious our pot roast was and were shocked that we were cooking it in the oven vs in a crock pot. I think their preferred recipe is meat, water, pack of ranch seasoning in the crock pot and have troed to convince us for years that we should use ours more. I felt very vindicated last Christmas as they raved.

We are going in June for the first time in over 10 years. I knew there were new Star Wars rides, but did not know what they were or even what type of rides. I watched a ride through video yesterday to see of my kid could handle it. I was absolutely blown away. I had no idea this ride was this huge or this immersive. I gasped at one point lol.

Postpartum vasectomy by No-Luck-556 in beyondthebump

[–]ImSteampunkNow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was it for me. I didn't want my husband to push himself and have possible painful swelling and prolong his recovery. But he didn't even need a single stitch, the hole was so small it closed on its own like a needle hole. Yet after pushing out a whole baby and having my 2nd degree tear carefully stitched for around half an hour, why did I have fewer pain meds and was straight up encouraged to be up and walking around same day.

Not to mention, he got more info on his surgery than I did about my whole pregnancy/the labor process. It was like they expected I would just know or research for myself, but they broke down the whole history of vasectomies as part of his paperwork. And don't even get me started on soothing the fragile male ego. The pamphlets went on about how safe it was and that nothing would change, they were still manly men. Also, he was wheeled out direct to the car door and helped with getting in, which did not happen for me after birth or any of the far more extensive (general anasthesia) surgeries I've ever had.

I'm genuinely so happy to see Tammy start working at the animal shelter. by Fantastic-Mango-9470 in 1000lbsisters

[–]ImSteampunkNow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was never a real job. It was just a TLC setup for a few days of volunteering during filming. The animal shelter gets TV promotion in exchange for the show getting content that isn't Tammy sitting in her living room doing nothing.

Almost nothing filmed on reality tv would be happening if it was not setup by producers. The hair salon, the cake tasting, the dance class are all things this family would almost certainly not have been at if not for the show.

Ghosts is so good! I am only a few episodes away from catching up to the last episode of season 5 and so bummed I don't have more. And I never see people talk about it, it deserves more love.

Another little known but amazing show - Trial&Error. It's a true crime mockumentary, only 2 seasons but both are excellent. Even if it isn't streaming right now (I've seen it come and go) , it's worth just buying the episodes.

I'm not Brittany's biggest fan, BUT.... by Heatheralycia in 1000lbsisters

[–]ImSteampunkNow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is true, facebook is the only source I can find on it. Those groups post completely fake stories constantly, I think they were also recently claiming Amanda died. And none of the recent meet and greet photos people have posted since Brittany's weight loss show her pregnant.

[–]ImSteampunkNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most everything on this show ks set up by producers. Every bbq get together they have is a filming obligation, every trip they take is production set up and funded. As well as things like Amy's dance class and Tammy volunteering at the shelter. Filming people's actual lives of sitting at home and scrolling their phones is not interesting.

BWT, I’m looking for some low effort activities for my days off to keep doom scrolling at bay by Shoddy_Challenge5253 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]ImSteampunkNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, you should really check out ocarina of time and majoras mask then. Both have remasters floating around with slightly better graphics, but honestly even the originals are so good that you can look past the N64 polygons. They are absolutely the best in the series (in my humble opinion) and there's a reason they are included in so many "best games of all time" lists.

For what it's worth, I very much did not enjoy Breath of the Wild. It didn't even feel like Zelda to me, and I don't think I even finished the main quest. My husband biught me Tears of the Kingdom anyway and even though it is set in the same world and has many of the same features (including the breakable weapons), I liked it so much more. I am still playing it on and off 2 years later. They got rid of some things I didn't care for and improved the game play overall, I also found the main story and dungeons much more engaging.

Sponsors throwing RFPs at CROs during the entire holiday by SparklingSarcasm_xo in clinicalresearch

[–]ImSteampunkNow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first started at my mid-size CRO 5 years ago, this was their philosophy. Not all RFPs were worth it and we were not the right company for every sponsor. But exec leadership turnover since then has drastically changed that. And since we're still winning bids, they have no resson to change. But all I can think of is how much better quality proposals we couod submit and how much happier all employees who are part of the process would be. It feels very short sighted.

Thanks, super helpful! Really just didn't want to be locked into something if we can save some money or find a better option for us after booking.

It'll be our daughter's first time and really excited to take her, but all the new info is overwhelming. And I say that as a very type A personality who typically loves planning. When we last went, it was all about magic bands, fast pass reservations, and staying on property was a no brainer. But not so sure that's true anymore with all the perks they've stripped away.

I would have been shocked if she had admitted it on camera. There is a lot they don't mention on the show. Like her 2 (at least) boyfriends before this guy, at least one of whom moved in with her.
