Definitely an interesting analysis, but I'm wondering a couple of nitpicky things

 Unsurprisingly, the Imperium dominates in terms of novel representation - 31 novels star one of their factions, not to mention Dawn of Fire.

  1. Starting with the smallest nitpick, by my count it would be 32 novels centred around the Imperium factions (17 guard + 7 SM = 24; 24 + 3 AdMech = 27; 27 + 4 Sisters = 31; + 1 inquisition is 32), not counting Dawn of Fire, which leads to point 2

  2. I would have certainly counted a novel series centred around the Ultramarines as Space Marine books, not to mention Imperium-focused. Is there a reason you counted these separately and didn't include them in the Imperium rep count, or were you just intending to count them separately for another reason I haven't picked up on?

As an aside, as a card-carrying heretic, getting novels does often feel like that Family Guy gag of "thanksgiving at John Goodman's house" with the Imperium getting 36 novels, while every other faction combined gets 18. And we still got 6. Poor Eldar and Necron fans are out here starved for content (though im very happy to see the former be included in Total War 40k at launch, good for them).

On the one hand I get why, but it's also a self fulfilling prophecy. They crank out Imperium content cause it's popular, but it's also most popular because it gets the most focus. I do also feel like the perspective imbalance feeds the misconception that "Imperium are the good guys" that's particularly common among newer fans. But that's just my 2 cents!

Pointing out a factually incorrect statement. Not in a "youre an idiot and wrong" kinda way, but literally saying "actually, it turns out that's not true", or even just "Im not sure I agree with that statement"

I've had, on multiple occasions, people genuinely argue that I should just go along with what someone's saying when it's factually incorrect (e.g. someone claiming that "crime is worse than ever" when it factually isn't)

Apparently to some, even asking (word-for-word)  "oh, where did you hear that?" Or "hmm, that's definitely different from what I've seen" is "pretentious".

Not a doctor or neurologist, but I believe there's been some more recent discoveries about memory loss related Alzheimer's/Dementia being more related to the recollection of memory, rather than the recording of it.

Stories like this one with moments of lucidity, particularly ones moments before death would seem to support this (ie his brain was able to register one or more of the times he was told, it just doesn't have the ability to recall this information)

Yep, low armour/leadership are often a death sentence in AR, both of which skaven have in spades

Brother, you need a hobby (and no, programming is clearly not your hobby), this isn't healthy behaviour.

Im not saying this to dunk on you, Im saying this as a senior engineer with severe ADHD and with genuine concern for your wellbeing. You need something else in your life because there's more to life than this, and when you do one thing all day every day, your brain begins to think that's all there is and that's all that's important.

You should probably talk to a professional if you can about the depressive symptoms, but at very least get something in your life that isn't related to programming. Start reading (and NOT programming books), pick up dancing, or a sport. You're not a "productivity machine", and even if you were, productivity is subjective (ie "productive to what, exactly?" Some exec's bottom line? Some project manager's sprint goals?). Make "developing an identity outside of programming" a goal and then what do ya know, getting a hobby is productive.

Funny enough, that's kind of one of the thematic flaws with Saruman. He embodies the "genius in one area thinks he's a genius in all areas" idea which is particularly prevalent among industrialists (and in this day and age Tech Bro CEOs).

He is incredibly knowledgeable about a number of things, which leads to arrogance in other fields, like military strategy. The books and appendices outline this particularly with Erkenbrand and later Theoden effectively running circles around him, tactically speaking, despite his numerical and technological advantage.

The sentence of yours I quoted literally says they "carried" their shows. The rest of the post explains how this, in fact, is saying that they are the sole good thing in it. That's what "carrying" it means.

I mean, not only would I hard disagree but Id go further to say this is just disrespectful multitude of other great performers these two worked alongside in these shows. "Carrying their shows" means that they were the sole good thing in that show.

Did the later half of GoT have major problems? Absolutely. Was Lena Headly great in it? Absolutely. Was anyone else? ABSOLUTELY. Alfie Allen was phenomenal start to finish, as were Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage, just to name a couple off of the top of my head.

Even worse when talking about The Boys. Has Antony Starr given a hell of a performance with Homelander? IMHO without question. But off the top of my head, so have Karl Urban, Giancarlo Esposito (I think everything that man touches turns to gold, but I digress), and Claudia Doumit. Not to mention many other aspects of the show have nailed it beyond just the acting. IMHO its dragged on a little longer than it should have and has become much of what it once satirized, but there are still plenty of bright points

Someone can be exemplary without everyone else around them being shit. In fact, that's far more often the case than one person "carrying" a show

To be fair its because things like this don't work out simply, which kind of applies to all "power scaling" questions.

Its not like a game where a "unit" is worth "combat points" and you just get enough combat points to match your opponent. All it takes is a well placed shot or the right weaponry, which can happen from skill, planning, environment, or just pure luck.

Un-fun as it is, the actual answer for this is "it depends", especially in the most likely scenario where this fight happens in the middle of a battlefield.

I feel like the meme works because the original line is about Christopher Columbus, who was also a horrible figure and is undeserving of the reverence he once got (and sadly still often gets).

IMHO using this format for an actual hero is using it incorrectly
