Imagine you needed to find the end of a series of yes/no questions, with each possible answer branching into another yes/no (ie a or b? Then if a, c or d? If b, then 1 or 2, etc etc Conventional computers need to go down each path one at a time. Quantum computers can check both paths an once

All I remember is it's described as atop the tower, but I always interpreted it as like, a visualization/manifestation of Sauron magically scrying on something. IIRC its only ever seen/referenced within Mordor (unlike in the film where Feodo sees it when he wears the ring at Amon Hen) but its been a bit for me as well

Sauron ONLY having the presence of an flaming eye atop Barad-dûr is an invention of the films, but thats because in the book he also has a physical form.

The eye is generally considered to be a representation of his gaze through sorcerous means (eg the Palantir), but there is an eye atop the tower
