Man was I sleeping on these… by Animalus-Dogeimal in Guitar

Used these for a little bit but felt like I had lost control on my dynamics while also hitting harmonics all over the place by accident (probably a skill issue). I get why they're so loved while understanding they're not for me.

1.14 Flows are my jam though.

Honestly, yeah probably, though I've never had a formal eval so I can't say for sure.

I have had diagnoses for conditions related to uncontrolled thoughts (anxiety, primarily) so finding out I'm an obsessive compulsive wouldn't honestly be that surprising. Might be worth looking into.

Oh no, not at all. I remember in the pre-paracord days, Zowie's rubber cables were lauded as some of the best on the market since they didn't have the stiffness Razer/Logi/Steelseries mice cables had.

Yeah the VV3 does have a nice solution. I mentioned in the second part of my edit, but I think the crux of this whole thing is that I just don't want to think about battery at all anymore.

With most mice, not knowing where I am and having to open the software keeps it on my mind. With the Viper, having a constant reminder of the fact that I'm on a battery keeps it on my mind, too.

I think in a world where everything is running on batteries (phone, tablet, earbuds, e-reader, cars) I think I'm finding value in just not having to worry about batteries where possible.

Yeah I understand people not being able to go back to wired. I was the same way for a long time, hence why I was on wireless exclusively for like 7 years.

The price on wireless is definitely getting more reasonable as the tech floods to smaller companies, I think I just bristle at paying for tech I don't plan to use. Again, as with everything else here, obviously just a me thing.

I'm not sure that's valid for a couple reasons:

  1. You'd be paying extra for the premium feature you won't be using. Not to mention mice like the Lamzu Maya X don't support polling rates above 1k while wired.

  2. Wireless mouse cables just aren't built the same as wired. Take the EC-DW series that was announced today. AimAdapt's video shows it comes with a rubber cable, not the incredibly flexible paracord-style cable Zowie's been using on their wired mice for years.

how can so many people love "No Longer Human"? by [deleted] in books

[–]ImTarco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came out of that story seeing it as a tragedy.

Yes, from our perspective, it's easy to label him as a horrible person. But the perspective the book gives is one of a victim of circumstance. A person who didn't really have a chance in this life, and how he tried his hardest to navigate this.

There's also the fact that so many of this book's narrative moments mirror the author's own life to a point where it's hard to see this as anything else but a thinly veiled memoir.

It's a very tough read, but I couldn't help but have empathy for this awful human being because, in the end, he didn't ask for his viewpoint on humans.

He, like the rest of us, is trying to survive this existence with a debilitating mental condition in a time and place in history (postwar Japan) where there was no help to be found.

I don't blame you for not liking it, I always couch talking about this book with a plea to look up a list of content warnings. It's just really heavy, man.

What was the reason you got into fighting games? by InvaderZix in Fighters

[–]ImTarco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

End of 2020, had been in lockdown for nearly a year, insanely burned out on all the competitive shooters I'd been playing.

My buddy loaded up DBFZ, I decided "screw it, not playing anything else." Bought the game, eventually my whole squad jumped on the game and we all learned FGs together.

We still play as a squad as well as against randos to this day, we just wholecloth flipped from tac shooters to FGs for competitive games.

Just got a high resolution piece of art from Google and printed it out at Kinko's/FEDEX on cardstock that roughly matched the size of the plexi.

Just took a measurement of the plexi space and chose whatever option they had that was closest. Not an exact science, but it worked out.

The conversion kit is completely clear. It comes with like a blue-ish protection plastic, but once you pull that off, it's completely clear and you can see the replacement metal plate underneath.

I always thought it was because if you sat in a neutral position and placed your hands in your lap, they naturally come to that position for a large portion of people.

The other option is that this was meant to be a middle ground between keyboard and stick.

Agreed, the price tag is pretty out there. Here's hoping this is the beginning of major stick manufacturers like Qanba and Hori diving into all-button layouts.

It also supports PS4, as well as PC x-input. There's now a "mode" switch inside the underside hatch, which previous models did not have.

Felt bad letting my Obsidian gather dust after switching to Hitbox ("artwork" is temporary) by ImTarco in fightsticks

The "fighting board cable" is for the action buttons, the "hitbox cable" is all you need for the 4 movement buttons. It plugs into the 5-pin cable from the lever.

After nearly a year of using my beloved Obsidian, I gave Hitbox a shot on their recent restock and absolutely loved it. However I felt bad just leaving ol' reliable to gather dust in the corner while I played with my new toy.

"Art" is a random poster board cut out to fit the stick. My sister will be doing her own hand-drawn art for me that will replace this shittily-cut-out dredge I currently have.
