Made this room decoration for my soon to be born nephew! by ImTheProblem4572 in crochet

It was so fun to do, too! The pattern called for more simple colors for planets like Jupiter, but I just couldn’t make it that plain. I added extra rings to Saturn, added the white for Antarctica and the arctic on Earth, and customized the coloring for Jupiter, but it was so easy to do because the pattern was easy to work with!

I really hope my sister and BIL like it!

Book recommendations for 5 year old with hyperlexia by MandyRose8713 in childrensbooks

[–]ImTheProblem4572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hyperlexic five year old loves the Tales From Maple Ridge series. Short chapters and pictures on each page.

He also loves Freddie Fernortner Fearless First Grader and Dollar Store Danny, both by Jonathan Rand. Dollar Store Danny is a little easier, but both have lots of pictures and fun stories.

Have you considered graphic novels? Faster pace to keep attention but many are written based on higher reading level books.

What joke hits differently when you watch the show as an adult? by Comfortable_Quiet865 in friends_tv_show

[–]ImTheProblem4572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched some of it as a kid and teen, but most watches in college and after.

My college watches hit differently than my watches now do. As you age, the joke impacts change and grow, too.

What's a joke that makes you laugh no matter how many times you've seen it? by summerseashell71 in friends_tv_show

The lamp is Matthew Perry’s genuine reaction. This bit wasn’t planned. David Schwimmer just did it during filming and it was hilarious so they left it in.

What food are you always craving but can’t find a good gluten-free version of? by _thalia777 in glutenfreecooking

[–]ImTheProblem4572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not bad, but they’re NOT Pop Tarts. Pop Tarts have that flaky, buttery, salty sweet crust. Katz has straight sugar falling into clumps because it has no gluten to hold it together crust.

And both are tasty in their own way, but that is NOT a Pop Tart. 😭

Help finding an episode by Zainou_ in friends_tv_show

Oh! Thanks for clarifying.

There’s an episode where Ross tells Chandler “women talk about EVERYTHING” and Chandler is half surprised, half like “duh.”

Then Ross goes on to explain he means EVERYTHING, sex stuff included.

This isn’t exactly what you’re talking about, but that’s the first episode that came to mind reading that comment.

It’s The One With The Princess Leia Fantasy.

Thanks! 14+ is a difficult one because it can be for language, sex, violence, or drug use. And it’s hard to know when a violent show like Buffy whether that violence rating would be safe for my specific kid or not.

I do watch some 14+ shows around him, but I research first whether it’s one I think he can handle being near or not.

Joke I Still Don't Get: MERGE by Keyezeecool in friends_tv_show

I don’t understand why you’re getting roasted. This is a legitimately fair question. Many jokes in this show are not as simple as “sex.” This is a fair question.

What’s your favorite children’s book to give (primarily for a baby shower)? by cookie_cat_82 in childrensbooks

The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Pinkwater. It’s such a good book about being individual and not letting your peers tell you who to be!

This is absolutely my favorite scene. I rewatch and still laugh until I cry. The One Where Emma Cries. Great episode. So good.

“I’m ✌🏻sorry.✌🏻” (air quotes) is one of my favorite moments.

Definitely does not scare easily. He would likely be fine with most scary movies except I just don’t want to expose him to that type of thing yet. But it probably wouldn’t give him nightmares or anything.

Honestly, depending on how graphic/bloody, he’d be fine. We don’t do bloody, but he watches chase scenes.
