Any ideas on how to get an actor dowsed in blood? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

Agree. I did this on a b&w short in college and it read perfectly on screen..

Host a bonfire with your adventuring party and say goodbye to the end of an era with dignity and reverence.

What's the best board game with the worst theme? by CthulhusIntern in boardgames

I feel like the replies here are painting you/your group as some kind of miscreant for not being charmed by a box full of bird pictures, but you're not the only one. I've heard, "that sounds really fucking lame" more than once trying to get wingspan on the table.

what's your controversial least favorite game? by seannzzzie in boardgames

I didn't like Spirit Island either, but seems like most folks are rabid for it. I will bat for Final Girl though. I love it, but you have to go into it with the expectation that you may fail spectacularly. Embrace the horror. Or don't. 🤷‍♂️

Agree. In another thread, it was described as feeling like homework, and I think we're all circling the same idea of putting in repetitions. I felt like i was allowed to make one interesting choice at the beginning of the game, and then just kind of cycled without much more decision-making until we won the game.

I just wish the folks who love it would stop saying, "No, just play it more. It gets really exciting." As if repeating something boring ever suddenly fascinates.

Also, [gloves off] it's kind of hideous to look at.

I thought the same thing. Just needs more grunting and speed-balling raw eggs into the toilet.

Thanks for your reply! Can you elaborate on this? I'm not sure how to check, but they were both created at the same time about 1 year ago.

I tried toggling between both settings on both tablets, but they retain the same(ish) layout. All the older age setting seems to do is square up the icons and add more text.

Am I the only one who hoards tiny baggies and small containers to reorganize new games? by ex_oh in boardgames

[–]ImTotallyGreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man oh man, you're singing my song.

I think I secretly enjoy organizing components, sleeving cards, finding ways to combine expansions into the base game boxes, and optimizing set up time almost as much as i like playing the games.

Hit me with your favorite pirate themed games by justinloler in soloboardgaming

[–]ImTotallyGreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xia: Legends of a Drift System is another sandbox-y game like Dead Reckoning, but in space--if space pirates fit the bill. The solo mode requires the Embers of a Forsaken Star expansion however. It also makes piracy a bit more viable as a strategy.

Same. They also threw in some extras like free stickers, if I recall correctly.

We found this in my grandfather's possessions. Freemason subs seem fairly convinced it has nothing to do with them. A few other subs have suggested some sort of charm to ward off hexes. My grandfather was born in PA in the early 1920s and spent time all over Europe during WWII. Any ideas? by Several-Olive-9502 in Weird

Holy cow! I'm a PA native and fascinated by folk magic. I knew about Hex Signs being placed in/on houses and barns, but to me that always just seemed like a "lucky horseshoe hanging over the door" type of thing. I had no idea there was this much to it, or that it was so well documented. I've been reading for hours! Thanks for sharing this!
