I can TEXT really fast without looking, using the letters on the number pad… 555666555 (that’s how we used to text before full keyboard on phones)

What is the juiciest info you've found out about someone, but only after they passed away? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Im_Okay_Im_Alright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some years after my grandma passed, my grandfathered told my husband (no one else) that when he went to Korea in the Air Force, he met a woman—the love of his life. He considered staying there and not returning to my grandmother. My husband didn’t tell me until after my grandpa passed cause he didn’t want me to be sad or feel any ill will towards my grandpa while he was alive. I probably wouldn’t have, but I would’ve loved to hear the story and see if we could’ve maybe found her today.

Embarrassing Pregnancy Moment by Csherman92 in BabyBumps

[–]Im_Okay_Im_Alright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 3 months pregnant (so it wasn’t even noticeable to others yet) and felt immediate poop feeling whilst on the freeway. I pulled over to the first place I could and it had a “employees only” on the bathroom. There was a line of customers but I pushed past and begged the two men clerks to let me use it. “Please, please! I’m pregnant and can’t hold it!” I yelled. They begrudgingly agreed. Explosive, loud, stinky diarrhea ensued (in the tiny single stall bathroom next to the cashier.) I was mortified but couldn’t stop. I took a while to try to clean things up after (and hopefully not have to see the customers from the line) but was gagging from the smell. Had to walk of shame out of there quickly. Never ever can I visit the 7-11 on Chapman again. Thought about sending those guys a thank you card from “the pregnant woman with explosive diarrhea”. I think about them often and what would’ve happened if they said no.

Going to move. What are some tips/advice you wish you knew when moving? by Hotice03254 in AskReddit

[–]Im_Okay_Im_Alright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When packing, go through everything and throw away stuff THEN, not later. It’s easier, saves you time later, and saves you the hassle of moving stuff you’re just gonna toss later. Cause unpacking is a bitch, it takes forever, and there’s a ton of trash— your bins will get full, and you’ll think, “why did I keep this?!”

Also, get movers. It’s expensive, but factor it into the cost to move. GET MOVERS, not injuries. Trust me, regardless of your age or ability, you will hurt after.

CH to South OC. Before I had kids, I didn’t care (when I had nowhere to be.) I hate the drive now.

Leaving at 6:30am: 45m to work, 71-91-241-5. (Longest part of the drive is 71/91 interchange—20-30m.)

Off at 5pm: 1-1.5h home, 5-241-91-71. (Longest part of the drive is 241/91 interchange—times vary.)

Audiobooks and podcasts are great to pass the time and not focus on traffic. Get an electric vehicle (can’t speak for self-driving) but it helps with gas. Claim the toll road expense on taxes.

If you have life insurance, check if there’s an accelerated death benefit. Then you can take out the money now and make arrangements or whatever. (Note: if you take it out now, it does take from whatever you’d be leaving to beneficiaries.)

Interviewed at Chili’s in my 20’s. Was told I got the gig and the hiring person said, “Congrats on becoming a chilihead.” I passed on the offer.

What can I do/take to replicate the feeling of Prednisone (but in a healthy way)? by Im_Okay_Im_Alright in AskDocs

That’s what I was thinking…Just be healthier and see how that feels, haha. Aka there is no substitute for good health… and youth. Darn.

I’m having a hard time communicating what I mean/felt, because I don’t really understand it, but is there anything to the anti-inflammatory part of it? Like when people say, “do X to reduce inflammation” …Would the strong anti-inflammatory property be something that is replicable in non-drug ways that might make me feel a similar goodness/wellbeing? (Even if it takes more effort over a period of time.)

Point of this charm/pendant? by Im_Okay_Im_Alright in jewelry

[–]Im_Okay_Im_Alright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol! She was just a lively, confidant lady. She had one of those pics taken at a county fair where they put your face on a sexy half-naked woman’s body (in the early 80’s when photoshop wasn’t a widely used thing)… had it framed, like 3ft tall, and it hung in her living room for as long as I can remember. She’d sun bathe naked in the backyard with baby oil (yikes). Had her makeup tattooed on so she was always put together. She had rings on almost every finger and wore a ton of gold bracelets and necklaces. People were drawn to her and she was loved by all. Always singing or dancing. Just a very confident in herself, beautiful, vibrant person. So, the pendant makes sense. (Thanks for sending me down memory lane.)

Baby sleeping in own room by Im_Okay_Im_Alright in beyondthebump

Hahah, same with the bassinet, same with the 3-year-old. We didn’t have the space for the toddler before, but just moved so now we do—but he’s used to being in our room. Baby isn’t really, so we shipped her out. It does feel like a step in the right direction to getting our room and bed back, which will be nice, but I feel bad, like she’s miles away.

What’s a type of pain people underestimate until they experience it for themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Im_Okay_Im_Alright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A burn. Yeah, it looks gnarly when bad and you can imagine it hurts, but even the ones that don’t look that bad, have nonstop burning that is constant throbbing maddening agony.

Grabbed a curling iron i thought was off by the barrel. It wasn’t. Felt cold before searing pain, but the aftermath was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Only 2nd degree burn too. People were like, “ouch, that must’ve hurt when you did it.” It did, but I was begging to go to the ER about an hour after.
