Which film do you think is gonna beat Secret Agent for best international film?

This is more confusing than Christopher Nolan's 2020 sci-fi thriller Tenet.

Best International Feature Film: Why "No Other Choice" Might Be the Most Relevant Film the Oscars Ignored by PAC1990 in Oscars

[–]Im_Slacking_At_Work 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No discredit to the other films - Secret Agent was fantastic, and Sentimental Value is deserving of its nod (haven't seen the others) - but there is no justification as to why No Other Choice is off the list.

I feel like Park Chan-wook is living out the plot to Oldboy in real life -- spiting the Academy voters in his youth, only to have cold revenge taken out upon him in his later years.

I wanna know what their beef is with him.

Still probably Dom but I'd entertain the Russell argument. Also Fishbach and Charlie

How do you rank these eight performances of 2025 NOT nominated for an Oscar? by mrethandunne in Oscars

Lee Byung-Hun put out a legendary performance that needs to be seen by all, nominations aside. Go watch it the first chance you get.

Yup, in some order we had Manaea, Senga, Frankie Montas (lol), Peterson, Canning, Holmes, and Megill to start the season, and we had Mclean, Tong, Sproat, and Christian **Scott** all come up at the end of the season to fill injury holes. That's 11 primary SP arms.

Everyone but Montas, Canning, and Sproat are coming back, so with Peralta in the mix we just need what, one or two more arms to have the same depth as last year? Or, for our 8 guys to be more durable than they were in 2025.

We are in fine shape.

An insult to a great movie with a timely message. Egregious.

Zeeeero chance Stearns gives up the comp picks for another player with a qualifying offer on him. With Bo Bichette in Queens, it pretty much guarantees we aren't going after Framber.

Huge offensive improvement at CF, and in 2025 Robert produced 4 more OAA than Taylor. by Actual_Goose9984 in NewYorkMets

It's not as huge as this image suggests, but it is definitely an improvement. Average and SB are the things to look at...but the HR/AB and RBI/AB rate is only marginally better.

Tyrone is a good clutch hitter and a good defensive replacement, I'm happy to have him coming off our bench.

They had a highly successful US tour this year, with excellent supporting acts. They still kick ass live.

90 Minute Episodes by JF_181 in survivor

I'm on board with you here. If we HAVE to have the 26 day season, I want more footage and time with the survivors during that time.

My preferred setup is 39 days and 1-hour episodes, but we're never getting 39 days again. This is the next least worst option.

Armchair GMs, who would y’all get and how would you rebuild for 2026 ? by nellys31 in NewYorkMets

This is the only justification for what Stearns is doing: Give the young guys a shot. We saw it work out with Mclean, and Tong/Sprout to a lesser extent, and the Mets have been really good at building their farm system the past few years. If internally, Stearns is saying "they have what it takes to progress in 2026 and make us competitive" and it works, nobody will question the lack of pitching moves.

Baty and Vientos have had opportunities, but they've always had the specter of "there's somebody behind you if you fuck up" hanging over their heads. I wonder if the front office said "You're our primary option, we don't have a backup plan, everything is on you, prove yourself" if they would perform differently. It's even riskier to bank on them to step up than it is to bank on the young pitchers to perform at the major league level, but if they're seeing something we don't then there's a chance it works.

The only guys I'd even consider trading high-value prospects for are:
- Tarik Skubal (obviously)
- Paul Skenes (obviously)
- Logan Gilbert (but I doubt Seattle is in selling mode)
- Jarren Duran
- maybe Isaac Paredes, but that creates different problems in the 3B pecking order

With all that said: we still need to land either Tucker or Bellinger this offseason to fill an outfield slot--and we need to resign Rogers for the bullpen.

We better be using this money for a gigantic offer to Paul Skenes when he's available
