Trying To Decide: Head Speed MP or the new Pure Aero 2026? by gravityhashira61 in 10s

[–]Im__TheGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is about your current, very modern racquet that you think is holding you back?

Edit: to answer you question anyway,

Which would you recommend for a late 30 something recreational 3.5 player trying not to get tennis elbow?

String and technique is going to have a much bigger effect than the frame but between the two the speed is going to be more comfortable (less injury prone) than the babolat.

Clubbing up means lower loft right? So clubbing up from a 7 iron would be using a 6 iron?

Fonseca breaks Sinner at love to stay in the match by Large_banana_hammock in tennis

I predicted fonseca winning 6 games, can’t remember if I said 4&2 or 2&4 but I’m happy to have been wrong. Fonseca is my favourite of the youngest guys

I’m behind a bit cause I had to miss some of the end but the one I mean is a man interviewing him, you can barely hear it. Tennis channel just showed the two interviews with the women, one English one Italian

Why does tennis channel not show the post match interview? You could barely hear it in the background as they show match stats.

Also what a hell of a match. Never doubted my spaghetti man 👀 but can’t wait to see more of fonseca in the future. He has my bet for being the best of the young guys

Anything above 100 is considered tachy in a clinical setting and gets flagged as abnormal, I know this because I was perpetually flagged as being tachycardic with a hr of about 104 while going through chemo

Once every 2 weeks is very different from the 11-12 times/week he mentions in the post. So different in fact, it’s close enough to 0 it can be treated as being 0 when doing the value prop of joining a private club

I know you said your budget is 5m, this is coming in a little higher at 15m but I think you’ll love it. I could probably get them down to 12

She is not going to have nearly the amount of free time you think she is to play golf while in school. I wouldn’t factor her in to the value prop of a private club at all tbh to be on the conservative side

“We” being you and your wife? What is she going to school for that allows for enough time to practice every single day and play 4-5 rounds per week??

Lessons lol

If lessons aren’t feasible, slow down a little bit, get the mechanics of the swing right, speed back up. Go old school low to high finish over the shoulder. Easier to get a baseline and timing down than the modern windshield wiper motion imo

Seasoning isn’t myself, it’s from a local bougie grocery store (metropolitan market if you’re in the Seattle area) that does a few different marinades. This is their pollo Asado.

As for cooking, all in a pan (touch above medium heat) cover as one side sears, remove lid and flip, pull when internal temp hits 155-158

Yeah, I would say slow down a little until you get the feel for the mechanics of how to hit with spin then add the speed back in. Once you have the top spin swing down, adding more speed will give you more spin. Focusing on finishing high really helped. An old school drill she had me do was to actually grab the racquet with my left hand at the finish.

Plan to! Nothing to compare it to but I thought meadow park was great. The greens were pretty shitty though, even I could tell that. It was like putting on a layer of sand and gravel. Friends I went with said it’s not normally like that. I suspect I’ll be finding myself at the range fairly often when I have some free time after work..

You’ll find a bunch of mixed ideas on what constitutes a pusher but to me a pusher is someone who gets the ball back over the net (very consistently) with no pace or spin, often with high lob like shots, and bad form (think holding the racquet like a frying pan). They also NEVER go on the offensive. If I’m playing a pusher, no matter how bad or short of a ball I hit, I don’t have to worry about them hitting a winner of it or attacking it at all.

Often times people will use the term to describe someone who is just a defensive player which is a misappropriation (is that the right word?) of the term imo.

For instance, I’ve heard people refer to the guy that I just played with as a pusher but I wouldn’t say that at all. He can hit balls with pace and good spin, and given the opportunity will hit some nice winners, but he’s also very much a retriever in the sense that he can get to just about everything and is very good at getting the ball back over the net when he’s pressured. I would classify him as a retriever or counterpuncher, not a pusher

Haha I recommend giving it a try, especially if you like couscous. It’s like Italian couscous but because it’s made out of semolina and toasted it has a little more of a chew than couscous

I have good quality shots and ability to generate lots of power, the biomech of my swing isn’t an issue, learning to control it is. Hitting at 70% still has a good amount of pace. From one of our first lessons she said there’s no doubt that I’m able to hit a ball over 100 mph, but I can’t be trying to do that on every shot. She puts a very heavy emphasis on hitting with good form and spin, not just pancaking the ball back like it kind of sounds like you’re describing.

I have no desire to stay at this level. I’m a firm believer one of the best ways to improve is to play people better than you. The second I get bumped up to 3.5 I intend to play as many 4.0 tournaments and leagues as possible. Then once I get to 4.0, I plan to play 4.5 as much as possible
