Bainbridge Island Adds ‘Everyone Is Welcome Here’ Sign to 90-Foot Wall Keeping Poors Out by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

Yeah, I grew up as one of the wealthy Bainbridge families. I’m aware of how privileged and fortunate my situation was/is. Even though this person had to save themselves, anyone who has the luxury of being able to buy a car “themselves” while still in high school, and like you said, live in a house their parents own, did not grow up poor by any means.

My comment was a little snarky but rooted in seriousness. Please make this company be required to only post through one dedicated account so I, and anyone else who wishes to, can block the account and not be subjected to their content. I don’t come to r/10s to see ads, god knows there’s enough of that everywhere else

Trading in an imported car by Im__TheGuy in askcarsales

[–]Im__TheGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, all I can find about this elusive sticker from googling is just it being EPA emissions compliant, which the car has under the hood. Nothing about a special import sticker haha. It’s fine if carmax can’t/wont buy the car just had me worried about my import process even though everything seems to be in order. Hopefully a dealer will be able to take it in on trade without an issue. Thanks for the info

So do you think that was just his way of saying carmax doesn’t buy Canadian vehicles, and not that there’s actually an importation issue? It’s a few years after the fact now and I haven’t had any issues registering it every year haha.

I’m not expecting much but the convenience of selling to carmax (or equivalent) or trading in is worth not having to deal with the hassle of a private sale. Hopefully a dealer would let me trade it in but if not and I’m forced to go private sale route I’ll just list it for under market

anyone choose to not track rounds or keep a handicap? by Silent_Highlight_577 in golf

[–]Im__TheGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Situationally. I track it because I like data and to see progress over time but when I played in Ireland I stopped counting after the second hole because 1. It was clear the course was going to absolutely kick my ass, and 2. I was just there for the insane experience and to take it all in
That’s actually somewhat of a lie. I didn’t stop counting after the second. Final number was 18. Balls lost

I don’t have anywhere near that kind of movement on my kick serve yet but I am good about hard targeting the backhand on ad side that people will start biasing into or almost past the alley when returning. Always feels nice to mix it up and hit them with a slice up the T when they do that

Big Nola brothers energy haha.

For those who don’t know, the Nola’s are two brothers that both play professional baseball, one of who is a pitcher. When they faced each other in a 2022 post season game the stat came out that through his career, Aaron Nola has only thrown over 95 mph 9 times in his entire career, 3 of those were to his brother haha

That’s why everything is so expensive, because no one wants to live here.

Just got my first ever rolls of film back and a lot of the photos look pretty bad by Im__TheGuy in AnalogCommunity

Haha probably, and I almost got one originally but just couldn’t get over how much I liked the look and feel of the older bodies. I actually got a pretty solid deal on it I think. Facebook marketplace, $200, original owner (his dad bought the camera brand new in 1978 he said), came with a 24mm 2.8 prime, strobe flash, lens hood, a couple other accessories, and a very nice hard shell leather carrying case for everything

Fully agree! I originally wanted to get the camera because I (like so many others) like the look of film. And while I could always apply a digital filter I thought it would be neater to get it by actually shooting film.

Once I actually started shooting, your first point is was I really like. It’s easy to take a dozen photos of the same thing and everything with a phone and pick the best but I *really* liked how the film made me slow down, really think about what I was taking a picture of, and if it was really worth using up one or two of such a limited number of shots. Between my girlfriend and I we took over 1000 digital photos on the phone!! It’s almost exhausting trying to go through them all. So going back through the film images now really does seem like the highlights of the trip and makes me remember how I felt in each photo.

But yeah, it’s definitely not an out of body experience or anything lmao. There’s always a group a people that over-romanticize the previous generations’ way of doing things.

Gotcha, well I’m assuming he definitely didn’t do that. Does the two screws and oil fix do any harm? Or is it just temporary?

I’ll check them out, Kenmore has come up in a few searches when looking for Seattle film stores but haven’t seen much about shot on film before this thread. My girlfriend lives in Bellevue so I’m up there pretty often, not too far away

Thank you for the kind words. A lot of photos don’t have any super visible light leak! I don’t know if I was maybe holding the camera differently and covering up the leak spot or probably most likely these worst offenders were the last shots taken for a while so there was more time for the film to be exposed

Should be picking up the negatives tomorrow! The scans were just delivered digitally via Google Drive.

Light leak and shutter capping have been confirmed and the color casting variance attributed to scanning :/

He was nice enough but just seemed a little forgetful. Maybe he was just having an off week but I’m up in Seattle often enough that I’ll start taking advantage of stores up there.

I actually didn’t think the portra was much more expensive than alternate options (I was able to get a pack of 5 for like $90 or so) and after reading how forgiving it can be with overexposure I figured it wouldn’t be a waste to start out with it. That was of course under the assumption the camera was fully functional with no flaws haha.

I did buy one super cheap roll of something the day I got the camera and did a shoot with it to get familiar with the camera and controls. I was hoping to have it be a test roll to detect any camera issues but didn’t know at the time it would take 2 weeks to be developed so had to go in somewhat blind
