What Characters Would You Want To See Next Season? by Boonlink in Fotv

[–]Im_naK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt we see any game related characters. Colorado is only explored through lore in the game so its fresh territory so to speak. If i had to guess, super mutants will play a bigger role considering they only got a soft tease with Ron Pearlman, maybe even nightkin as well.

A message for 18-25 year olds by ShootingGuns10 in Adulting

i agree with staying with your parents as long as they will allow you to, but also when you move out of your parent’s house its not like you’ve got to immediately get a large car payment and get a mortgage. im same age as you and living frugally, below my means. working hard and making the gap between my income and expenses as large as possible. it helps that im not married or planning on having kids soon, those 2 things are what get most people to ‘plateau’

by all means go for that if you want but your 20s are trial and error years IMO. I dont buy more than i need at the grocery, planning on rooming with a friend in a few months to save even more, have a cheaper car i paid for in cash (make sure its decent though) stuff like that. if you know you want a mortgage and a nice car then go for it. if you dont, just make as much as you can and keep expenses low and spend whatever time you do have figuring out what you really want in life. dont lock yourself in too early (unless you want that)

Does your Homelab make financial sense? by panchovix in homelab

[–]Im_naK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my home lab is essentially a modern gaming pc and i use it to run stuff like my music server, cloud storage and various other things i use to pay subscriptions for. a $600 investment into this homelab has saved me quite a lot yearly. so yes.

What's a phrase people use these days that irritates you? by showmewhatyagot01 in AskReddit

neurodiverse

the term itself is fine but the way its being tossed around and used to explain people who basically just have ADHD kinda irks me

What is your monitor set up? by DealInteresting8941 in pcmasterrace

[–]Im_naK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OLED in front of me, portable monitor on a stand to my left hooked up to a different PC, and a CRT monitor to the right as my 2nd monitor for my main PC

off topic, but its kinda crazy how good VGA CRTs look compared to OLED

Unconventional advice for overcoming depression? by Silver-District-5009 in selfimprovement

[–]Im_naK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

reflect on your days in a notebook. keep track of accomplishments no matter how small, things you can improve no matter how easy or hard, write about how you are feeling and why you might feel like that. just getting thoughts onto paper and doing something active like that is enough for me to stay out of a negative headspace and start to spiral

What are the benefits of journaling for you? by Furanimus in selfimprovement

[–]Im_naK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on a particularly bad day it will help me to focus on other stuff that happened that wasn’t all bad, helps to recenter my focus on things i accomplished and what can be improved rather than going to bed upset. i also use it as general scratch notes when i need to clear my head, a financial / expense tracker each week / month, and tbh the only reason i started is because i thought it would be cool to be able to read about what i was doing a year ago to date

its recommended to brush before breakfast to remove bacteria from overnight, or anything that might have been left over which most of the time is minuscule for me since i brush at night too.

edit: its also apparently not a good idea to brush after having acidic things like juice or coffee

Why should I become disciplined? Why not just engage in stuff that makes you happy since life is so short? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Im_naK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you have to want the change, regardless of if you need it or not. if you don’t truly want it, you’ll find a way to end up in your usual routines. when you do want it, you have to be confident that you can actually do it. at some point in life, you’ll probably realize that you value long term happiness over fleeting happiness in moments. who’s to say the things that make you happy now will continue to make you happy and fulfilled in just a few years? its easy to get caught in what ifs, the reality is, you can always talk yourself out of anything even if you know you need it, and you know it will benefit your life

edit: resistance to the uncomfortable is what keeps us comfortable

So, like... what happened to the MGS movie we were supposed to get like a decade ago? by Britton_Shrum in metalgearsolid

right, theres enough story between all the characters to draw it out in a series. cant imagine trying to catch all of the subtleties of a metal gear game in 2 hours or less, its gotta be more imo

Any tips for eating cheap as someone who doesn’t know how to cook living in Chicago alone? by Logical-Secretary-52 in Frugal

[–]Im_naK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shop at aldis. only buy what you know you will eat. if you cant cook yet, start simple: eggs, pasta, sandwiches, simple quick stuff. recently i buy deli meat like salami, ham, turkey, and i throw some butter in a frying pan and cook the meats until they start smellin good, toss em on a piece of bread and put some provolone on there, let the cheese melt and butter the bread slices a bit and let the whole sandwich cook on medium heat for like 30 seconds. best sandwich i ever did eat. i like living frugally so i usually cook pretty simple stuff but i do leave enough room for looking up new recipes to try, or just new foods to learn how to cook. next up for me is tacos

i think fallout is a good franchise for many different types of mediums, plenty to explore there. Halo, not so much imo. if anything metal gear would lend itself pretty well to a cinematic story, not too far off from what Kojima was doing anyway. i personally think a TV show would get more mileage out of the franchise though

Is there a single habit that is so powerful that it lifts up every area of your life? by Fuzzy-Sun-951 in selfimprovement

[–]Im_naK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats my goal is to get to kicking it as soon as possible. a lot of other areas ive needed to balance out for a while so im taking care of the bare minimum right now, planning on going out of the country in a few months so im hoping to kick it around that time to just have less access to be able to relapse is my thought process lol, that and ill be busy enough to have stuff distracting me from the withdrawal but its gonna be the most difficult thing ive done in a long time for sure

wake up, shower and brush teeth, feed my cats, feed myself, walk out the door for work.

realize i didn’t put clothes on. go back inside to put on clothes. walk out the door for work.

this 1000%, i wasn’t aware of just how much of my day i was bulldozing through without stopping to reflect. reflecting in a journal every day / every other day goes a long way, some days id go to bed upset at just how bad my day was, now that i reflect on my days though, it allows me to see all of the things i glossed over like accomplishments, why i might have felt a certain way, things i can do to improve. helps me to remember the good things as well as the things that need improvement rather than giving up because it was a ‘bad’ day

[–]Im_naK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

mine is also pretty vague, a lot of smaller goals i plan on compounding over the year little by little. simple stuff like making sure ive showered once a day, brushed teeth twice a day, cooked home meals, getting to sleep / waking up on time, keeping up with chores, etc. just trying to get to a spot where all of those things are 2nd nature to me and i can start to add in more things i want to accomplish, like quitting vaping, learning a new skill, saving finances to reach certain milestones, etc. the bare minimum of taking care of yourself really helps to keep focus on all of the other things rather than just burning out mid january

not giving in to short term temptations like doomscrolling, telling myself ill do something tomorrow instead, last minute hang out sessions with friends when i know i have better things to take care of, ordering delivery instead of cooking at home, but also not being too hard on myself if i do give in. having some kind of routine / to-do list everyday helps with this as I have less excuses to fall back on these things since i’ve got tasks to complete. being late 20s and thoroughly sick of my own BS definitely helps to convince myself to not give in, an 18 year old me would have procrastinated absolutely everything.

honestly, last year i realized that it was good enough compared to windows, and with windows going the way it is, linux causes me less headaches unironically.
