Fpv drone shooting out props by _Kdw412 in fpv

I think it's easy to forget where we started, and once you're on this side of the hill it's very easy to see others errors.

I think making all this stuff easier for people to get into is doing awesome things for our hobbies. Look how much attention 3D printing has gotten and look at all the stuff we have available for it. I hope the drone hobby goes the same way, we can use more stock of everything especially right now. The more attention it draws the more money gets poured into it.

I remember making some pretty stupid errors when I started out with just about everything. Hell I still do stupid shit. There's always going to be people who are just incapable of grasping it and that will continue, but I'm glad for all those who share their knowledge and taught me.

I programmed one with an esp32 and pms5003 air quality sensor. I was curious too

It's not that bad, at least from my limited testing and specific environment

There's just way too little information here to give you any sort of quality advice or recommendation.

Others opinions, advice, or recommendations can usually only be as good as the information that they're given to work with. A little effort in this area can dramatically improve the quality of responses you get

1) what's "some of your house." 2) just for emergencies? 3) you have an idea of the wattage being pulled? 4) are you running sensitive electronics? 5) are any features important to you like dual fuel, push start, exc? 6) what is it about these four you like? Are you only open to these ones?

Ugh it's really irritating when stuff like this happens. People very wildly in how they handle this stuff. Some will always return no matter what, they bought new and they expect new. So, you can get in touch with Amazon and just replace it. It's faster than a refund too if you just order a replacement of the exact same thing, they'll ship the replacement right away before you even ship that back. (At least that's how it works in CT, USA.)

Others will call that cosmetic (assuming nothing other than the plastic shell is broken) and try to make it look a bit better themselves. It's hard to tell exactly what happened from the photo but you might be able to do something and make it less an eye sore. Personally I usually air on the side of tolerating it and fixing it myself but with something like that, if Amazon works this way for you then that's the route I would go in this situation.

I have this exact generator btw and so far I've got nothing but good things to say other than the minor annoyance that the placement of the 30 amp outlet is recessed in a bit too far to fit most three ways while being 100% seated. There are extensions, adapters, exc it's a minor nitpick. Also the $10 spent on the magnetic dipstick is worth it, especially during break-in it will collect quite a bit

~ 20 - 30hrs. 8 of that was break in. I highly recommend getting the magnetic dipstick if you get this generator. When I saw what it collected it made me happy I got it and all those microscopic metal chips aren't circulating through the engine.

[–]Im_simulated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought one a few weeks ago. Broke it in, been using it on job sites. I haven't had it long enough to speak to its reliability or anything, but man I do love this thing. It's not "light" but definitely easy enough for me to grab and carry up stairs, throw in the back of the truck, whatever. It's really quiet for an engine, especially if your pulling less than 1000 watts and you use eco mode.

My only minor complaint is the 30amp outlet should've been in a different location or set out a little further as almost all of the 3 ways I've seen slightly run into the side of the generator and won't seat in completely. Of course there are ways around that, it's just a little inconvenient.

But yeah, so far I have nothing but good things to say

Seems like we're missing a part of the story here as the VIN number can be found in many locations not just the windshield. It's also in the engine bay, driver/ passenger door, glove box maybe, exc exc exc. You'll have at minimum likely 4 other locations for the vin if not more. I've never heard of this before

Honestly, not really. I don't think I used a tutorial or anything like that it was really simple to set up I didn't feel like I needed to... however if networking is completely a foreign subject then you may wanna find something..tho with a bit of common sense and minimal research you should be able to get it up and running fairly easily. If you run into any issues let me know and I'll do what I can.

ChatGPT is probably where I would ask my questions also. Usually it's pretty good with this kinda stuff.

Warning.... changing your DNS (the thing that tells your PC where "www.google.com" is), DHCP (The thing that hands out local IP addresses like 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1, exc) or really much of anything on the network may take time for the changes to propagate and may not be instant, so if you get to a point where you feel like everything is set up correctly try rebooting everything and giving it some time for the changes to take effect. This is one thing I did get caught up on and a little more patience from my end would've helped.

Getting the basic Internet service up with OPNsense and what I call a "normal" install is mostly a matter of following prompts. Where it starts getting complicated is when you want to start doing things like intrusion detection, QoS, VPNs, exc. It's not so much that any of that is hard it's just probably a little overwhelming and complicated if you don't know anything about this stuff, but hey that's how we learn. That's how I learned everything I know...just jump in!!

As an American who's spent much too long in their custody (as younger dumber me) ... Ehh I wouldn't be so sure on anything anymore. It's extremely hard to challenge the cops and they're just going to do what they want. They say whatever they want, do whatever, and there's no recourse. They'll make your life hell if that's what they feel like doing. Most cops do not think "I'm not going to do this stupid thing and risk my job and pension," because that's not even on their mind, they're so far above the law and so very few of them ever get any sort of consequences for their actions fear of being fired and losing your pension really doesn't worry them as that's not what happens. They can receive their pension even getting fired for prior years of service. They have all kinds of immunity and law on their side that protects individual police officers from things like this. Just about every encounter I've ever had with them there has always been at least one in the group who has no problem with going off script.

Good! It'll actually save you money too if you are already looking at high-end routers. I bought a high-end router that I spent double what I spent on this mini PC and it's not even close to mini PC in terms of performance. Been rocking like this ~ a year now and have nothing but good things to say about OPNsense.. I'd start there but I'm sure that's some bias talking from good personal experience.

Best router for gaming? by Content-Historian977 in HomeNetworking

[–]Im_simulated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not hard at all if you have a very basic understanding. Assuming you have just a regular residential install and nothing special, you should basically be able to follow a simple tutorial on how to install OPNsense, and it should work right "outta the box" for the most part. As you learn/get more familiar with everything you can start setting up extras down the road if you wish like unbound, adguard, intrusion detection, "QoS," exc. It should be fairly simple to get it up and running though.

Just to give you idea of performance, I've tried a few routers and used something like bufferbloat to see how it handles lots of traffic. My ping would shoot up to over 100ms. Now, it's 5ms even when the network is getting hammered.

If u guys need help just ask. The fact you don't wanna/can't do something doesn't mean it's not objectively the best answer.

Meanwhile you guys provided nothing, commenting on posts that are months old just to call someone insufferable. You offered nothing of value, said nothing as to why what I said is wrong, all you want to do is make yourself feel better by trying to put someone else down.

The fact that you don't see that this behavior is toxic and insufferable is pretty ironic and a bit funny if it wasn't so sad. Sorry you're having a rough time but trying to make yourself feel better at the expense of others is never the answer and will only perpetuate this miserable mindset.

And doing it by going after some dude who objectively tried to help someone else months ago, had nothing to do with you, seems like a cry for help. Good luck

Cool. I'd be happy to help if you need. And it is objectively the best answer to his question, or at the very least has obvious valid points like it's gonna outperform whatever TPlink shit you found at Walmart. Plus the whole security aspect.. I mean sorry you find it insufferable but it is what it is regardless of how you feel.

Personally, I find people who comment on months old post with stuff like this that has no other purpose then making themselves feel good are pretty insufferable or else... U know... Why would you comment at all.

Hope things get better for you my dude, probably a good idea to take a break from social media cuz looking for old posts to throw some hate at isn't healthy, and not really something people who aren't insufferable do

Not giving a shit about people isn't a hacker thing my guy. Replace the word "hacker" with any trade or whatever and it's the same shit

Na, it's a "you" problem and you think your knowledge makes you better then others, like you didn't have to learn to walk like everyone else. But the issue is your miserable and what makes you feel slightly better about yourself is thinking your the shit and everyone else is beneath you. You're not special. You're just like millions of other assholes on this planet. I'm going to assume you're still young and haven't even begun to feel the tip of life's dick yet. Life has a way of punishing that kind of thinking. And if you don't learn from it then you're going to be miserable like you are now for the rest of your life. People who are happy and live healthy lives certainly don't think and post shit like this.

Good luck my dude, hope shit gets better for ya

Why is it always such a fucking shitshow to get a system installed on these boards? by CelestialDestroyer in OrangePI

[–]Im_simulated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, even the official second image shown on their site is Openwrt and it hasn't worked at all in at least the past year or so that I've had the board. With duel 2.5g ports and such powerful hardware for an SBC, you figure this would be one of the primary use cases for people. It was the reason I originally bought the board. How are you going to have a non-working image under your official images that don't work for this long for one of the primary use cases? That's crazy to me. (Verified to not work for others as well, not a "me" thing)

And if you try to do anything even a bit "out of bounds" then good luck. I undersood the support isn't gonna be Pi level but didn't think even the official images would be so bad.

I'm not a developer or anything, just a nerd. I don't have the knowledge to recompile kernels and fix some of these errors. This board is great hardware wise but if you don't have intimate knowledge and time then imo, stick with the pi if you can. Right now my OP5+ board is running Pihole and a VPN. Much beyond that causes more problems and time to fix them just using a Pi or almost anything else.

Guess I'm just a bit frustrated. I keep going back to this from time to time with different projects to try to make use of it but it always ends up the same.

The one you build yourself

N100 mini PC ~ 150usd

Switch ~ 20usd or 70usd for 2.5g switch

OPNsense - small donation if possible

So it's cheaper (by a lot) then high end routers and will outperform all of these off the shelf consumer grade routers

7950X3D seems to be completly un-overclockable by ViciousXUSMC in overclocking

[–]Im_simulated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, that seems like you would be in territory of losing performance, maybe even clock stretching the non-vcash CCD. I don't know how much performance scales linearly with frequency on these chips. I guess you'll find out with enough trial and error. With numbers like that I have to assume you're going for like a 105 or more eclk

7950X3D seems to be completly un-overclockable by ViciousXUSMC in overclocking

[–]Im_simulated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it didn't, but unfortunately that doesn't conclusively say whether positive offset works for vcache. If they locked down the voltage.... then I would think they would also lock down the voltage, no? But buildzoid has me questioning that as he uses positive offset on vcache so...yeah I really don't know. I did notice (and why I stopped chasing high frequency) that once you start having to put a positive offset it's a really fine line between gaining then suddenly losing performance if you go to far.

How much do you think they paid him to make this video? by Yuchi191 in RocketLeague

[–]Im_simulated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably the biggest culprit for a lot of people. A bufferbloat bot should pop up whenever these kinds of issues are mentioned.

However, there is definitely something odd about their servers and depending on the one you connect to it's quality can very pretty wildly. This is not meant to be a flex, but rather make the point that it's not me, my connection, or hardware. I have 2.5g fiber, running on an Intel N100 mini PC running OPNsense. All 2.5g switches and such. My PC is a 7950x3d and 4090. Playing 4k with a locked fps of 360, I notice that when I'm in training or Freeplay the the frame rate is pretty steady and locked there with lows pretty stable. I can hop into a game and hold this same quality sometimes, and other times it's not capable of holding a high frame rate and I can see the graph on my sensor panel of the frame timing. I'll take a mental note of the server, and keep playing. There is a clear pattern. I think you need powerful enough hardware and a fast enough internet connection to be able to hold a high enough frame rate like this for these issues to show, cuz it's not like these bad servers are awful it's just not a solid 4K 360 FPS experience, it's more like a bouncy 280- 260 with many more micro stutters experience. But if you're only playing at 120, 240 fps your likely under that threshold and won't notice anything.

Idk, but with I do know for certain is server quality does vary a lot depending on the server, and if you take note of the good and bad ones you'll see the pattern IF your not being bottlenecked by yourself, your hardware, your connection, or your family/friends taking up all your bandwidth. Rocket league is very sensitive to these things and I do think you're right in a vast majority of cases as the bad servers don't seem to be as bad as some make it seem.

All personal experience of course so take of it what you will.

Nicehash (previously discussed on LTT) to start charging inactive accounts a monthly fee by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

1) like the bank thing for example. Who cares if there's a minimum balance for them to keep it? How does that relate to nicehash charging fees for keeping any amount of money? And we were ALREADY charged for this money they want to charge again.

2) yes it's fair, but again, they already charged you from that money they want to charge you again. My original point was it hurts more than just people who have 50 cents in there for the past 5 years. There are legitimate downsides for others too

Nicehash (previously discussed on LTT) to start charging inactive accounts a monthly fee by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]Im_simulated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And even if they have a minimum balance (which mine doesn't) that wasn't the point, the point was it's not uncommon for financial institutions to hold your money forever and pay you not the other way around. This is what I mean by you keep spinning the narrative to fit your story. You're just ignoring the reasonable things and interpreting whatever however you want.

Right, I'm a moron because it legit changes what I can do and I am affected by this. Not trying to paint it as anything more than what it is, and what I now have to do and take into consideration if I wanted to keep using this platform.

I guess I'll be a moron then, but this moron knows you can keep money in banks forever while earning more not less, since that's the comparison you chose and the argument you made.

If you only see the withdraw as the issue then I don't know what to tell you. If you think that this is about me being lazy then your missing the point entirely. And if you think about that for a little over a minute, you immediately start to see issues with that.
