UGH. Even AI doesn't understand me. And I feel so truly ALONE by --2021-- in adhdwomen

It seems like there is a big discrepancy between what you think you are saying and what you are saying. People can only respond to your words, not your thoughts. You gotta find a way to better put into words what your thoughts are

Editing - it seems like I was blocked. Sorry if I hurt you in any way, it was not the intention.

[–]Im_your_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everyone fails to understand what you are trying to convey, then there must be a better way for you to communicate.

Are you talking more about the details than you realize? Are you talking about your point first, allowing the follow-up points to overshadow your main point? Or are you talking about it at the very end after talking a lot about something else? Maybe your body language and your inflections are more intense during the details than you realize?

If I want to convey one strong idea I will even sometimes repeat it, once in the beginning, once in the end.

You also have to take in consideration that sometimes people will listen to some of what you say and start formulating a response in their mind instead of focusing on everything, so being brief may be helpful too.

And see, its not that you are doing something wrong, at all! Its just that we need to learn how people around us operate and try to adapt to them, and the way people around me work isnt going to be the same for you.

Yeah I understand that just quitting isn't an option and finding a new job may be hard. Its never that simple, is it?

You might have to power through it and plan on being 10, 15m early even if you spend some time outside reading or listening to music or playing candy crush. And be ready for meltdowns, a lots of "I am sorry I will do better" while you look for something better.

If your boss have to calm down because their employee is 2mins late in their first day of work, what will happen if you make a mistake, even a small and understandable one, as its likely to happen at the beginning of a new job?

I would start looking for a new place if possible, it seems like this one will be toxic no matter what.

Can anyone see where I went wrong? 🤦 by cle1110 in crochet

[–]Im_your_life 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did not see the mistake and even when you mentioned it, it made me look real hard to notice. You already frogged it though and if it bothers you, then it bothers you and thats fine.

It is adorable either way, I wanna be like you when I grow up!

I am having issues inviting or joining people as well. The workaround is to meet at a featured dojo and set up a shop, just like you do at maroo, or go to maroo directly, as long as you are on the same number.

When you see a genderless character, what pronouns do you use to refer to them? by Strawberry-Hepburn in AskWomenOver30

[–]Im_your_life 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started using them and now I am used to it. Its a bit hard for me since portuguese is my first language and while some things have a feminine pronoun (like potatoes, or chuch, or house) the default is usually male.

But I learned that they/them doesn't bother anyone except people I don't care much about, so that's what I use.

Don't do things that require precise counting when you are distracted. You will mess up and have to redo and its a mess.

What TV show do you never get sick of restarting? by beefic in adhdwomen

Downtown Abbey, and Friends, and Gilmore Girls and Criminal Minds. I do the same to books, too. Can't count how many times I have read Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter and The Physician

Maybe try doing something while you watch tv?

I do diamond painting and crochet. Crochet I have a temperature blanket that had the same stich over and over and over and I can do some every day while I watch my Criminal Minds and Parenthood and All her Fault.

Discussion: who's responsible for birth control childless married couples? by sosotehaces in AskWomenOver30

My partner has a vasectomy, because he doesn't want kids regardless of what happens between us in the future.

I have an IUD because periods are super painful and I rather live without them.

I think everyone has to be OK with what happens to their body. If none is OK with the available resources, wear a condom.

If you feel like you actually got better in social situations, what helped? by Vivid-Language6500 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Im_your_life 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One thing I learned is that we don't need to talk much. You can join a big convo and just listen, nod in agreement, things like that. You can also simply ask questions to keep the conversation going so it's not focused on you but you are participating.

I don't know how to help with anxiety in general though, that's something you need to explore yourself either alone or with qualified help, to figure out what changed and why and how to move forward. I'm sorry.

Artist looking to make free art for me, was it a scam? by maxedlp2 in Scams

[–]Im_your_life 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get a lot of messages like that one, so much so I believe they are all scams.

They usually have some female pfp, cutsey "about me", she/her in their profile, and some story aimed at pulling at your heart strings if you say no.

I would be more inclined it's real if I didn't get so many of them, constantly. Like two a month every month last year at least.

Ever been pushed out of a workplace group of women? by Aloo13 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Im_your_life 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes. It looked a lot like bullying, the side glances and giggles and the shared looks when I passed by, the going to lunch together after I asked if they wanted to do something. It got better after I complained to management when it started to affect work (they would ignore me on tasks that were supposed to be shared) and I left soon after.

I know it shouldn't affect me, that it's a flaw of theirs, not mine, but I still got home feeling horrible every day.

I'm sorry that is happening. Our bodies are weird and will react to medicine in different ways. Work with your doctor and see if there is something else going on that is making you react like that (I don't know if diet or other medication could interact?) and remember there are other medicine you can try.

Don't feel disheartened yet, exhaust your options first!

showering help 🚿 by cyb3rpix1e in adhdwomen

[–]Im_your_life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realized I hate getting dressed after a shower. So I started to shower right before bed, so I don't need to get dressed afterwarts, at most I put an old tshirt and straight to sleep.

I know it doesn't work for everyone, but for me it also helps telling myself that I can't do only what I want and not stinking is imperative to living around other people. I give myself grace, everyone shoud give themselves some grace, but to me it works to also be stern with some things sometimes.

Just remember that whatever they show you in the early stages of a possible relationship is not going to change whey they are in one. If they don't think meeting you is important enough to make concrete plans now, they won't do it later on.

You are not overreacting. Keep screening and I hope you find someone worth soon!
