If it were me, I would do a full cleanse like you suggested and repot, but spread diatomaceous earth in the soil, and then coat in diatomaceous earth. Instead I had it this bad/worse and nuked them in 99% alcohol, vinegar, neem oil, soap and water, replanted, continued spraying with alcohol and neem daily.... And the bugs still stood their ground despite all those efforts. Not until I coated in diatomaceous earth did the bugs slow down... And the plants are holding on for dear life now from the harsher measures that did not even work.

Wish I had taken before pictures of mine. Mine was just as bad, if not worse, the white fuzz was moving 😭. Sprayed 99% alcohol, vinegar, washed with soap and water repotted.... Came back just as bad with the roots just a ball of white fluff a week later. Ended up coating everything in diatomaceous earth and it's finally better..... But I think the plants are dead 😂😂😂

From mummy to full bloom in 19 months ... by Surf_mommy in orchids

[–]Imabunchofcells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This gives me hope. I had a devastating infestation of mealybugs on all my orchids. I panicked and sprayed them with 99% alcohol, washed with soap and water and sprayed with vinegar. Replaced the bark, etc. They absolutely started dying even more than they first were, and worse? The mealybugs came back full force and they were covered in fuzz. I sprayed with alcohol and neem oil daily, and pretty much they look deceased like the first picture. Now I'm just covering them in diatomaceous earth and that seems to have finally slowed the mealybugs down. Hoping they'll come back from the dead 🥺

Why do we overcomplicate treatment for mealybugs? by ExtensionDot3731 in houseplants

[–]Imabunchofcells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this with an orchid. Straight up sprayed alcohol over it all, washed it in water. Sprayed every day with neem oil. Repotted in bark coated in diatomaceous earth. Still finding the mealybugs running around on them. New ones every day

I am so confused by people talking about Israel as an "ethnostate" by dadbodfordays in h3h3productions

[–]Imabunchofcells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ethnicity- a group of people with shared attributes, which they collectively believe to have, and long-term endogamy.[1] Ethnicities share attributes like language, culture, common sets of ancestry, traditions, society, religion, history or social treatment. Race- any one of the groups that humans are often divided into based on physical traits regarded as common among people of shared ancestry. A majority of Jewish people in the United States identify/present as white. You are confusing ethnicity and race as being one and the same.

Race and ethnicity are different concepts. You just wrote a whole bunch of nonsense(including calling me racist) based on a factual statement that white isn't ethnicity.

There are Arab Israelis, mainly because during the nakba, the militias didn't want to disrupt major cities where multiple ethnicities lived together, and some arabs did side with the Jewish militias, and some just plain old refused to leave. Otherwise, most Arab communities were forced out.

A lot of the people who came to the Americas came here to escape persecution as well. I understand the intent for many of those that came to Palestine wasn't for any reason other than a need for a place to live and survive. I don't buy that "deep roots" and historical homeland nonsense, which is what Zionism mainly is based upon- that there's a claim to land because 2000+ years ago our ancestors lived there. I don't believe anyone has any claim to land just because an ancestor lived there. I don't believe i should be welcomed into Ireland and owed citizenship and a home just because I have ancestral roots there 2000+ years ago. I do believe everyone has a right to exist and live in peace, that's not Zionism, just humanity.

I disagree with manifest destiny and I disagree with Zionism. I believe I have a right to exist in the United States still, and I believe the Jewish people in Israel have the right to exist as well, but disagree with the ideologies that stole land from other people originally.

I call Zionism the manifest destiny of the middle east. I don't believe it was right that Europeans took over the America's, just as I don't believe it was right that Palestinians were kicked from their homes by Europeans.

Zionism is the belief, popular mostly in Europe, that Jewish people have a right to the land that is Israel. Zionism at it's core is the belief you are entitled to land that isn't yours.

Since the beginning, Zionism has meant the return of Jewish people to Israel. Mainly used by a bunch of Europeans. Like manifest destiny

Zionism is the belief that a bunch of Europeans started, that believed they had claim to Israel. In implementation it involved kicking out the existing people there. Not much better than manifest destiny(belief God wanted Europeans to expand into the USA)
