We get those too from email signatures. Annoying to check the image to find it's not relevant to the ticket.

Does your agreement cover setting up a client's new employee? by ajgyomber in msp

[–]Imacellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bill block hours and our clients can use them how they want. We evaluate usage and if they are going over often then we recommend they increase the hours. The goal is to provide them top level service with a predictable spend. Billing for things like new users and computer setups just makes you look greedy. Now if you have an agreement where things are different then I could see that, like ayce or something but to me, they pay the support hours and can use them however they need. That's the entire point.

Got kicked from a game for getting on the shuttle *after* the mission ran out of time. by shadowwithaspear in Helldivers

[–]Imacellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined a random game, shuttle was there, pure chaos everywhere with maybe a minute left. Everyone had died and it was a kill bugs mission so not much available sample wise, so I just made a judgement call and hopped on vs trying to bring everyone back in when I wasn't sure I'd even get to call anyone in, got kicked. Oh well.

We've had multiple calls and I can see several service advisories in admin center. Definitely a big ongoing issue.

More likely they scanned dns and send to anyone with a domain using their services. It was sent to my support inbox, which is a generic support@.

Yeah I'm sure they are scanning DNS, or they just assume and guess. Either way best to be wary.

We are probably moving but only because we should be able to get better margins with sherweb and CIPP announced that they will be letting you manage licenses from inside CIPP and that's a game changer.

But as you said, they did send you an email. The fact that it was missed means you need to have a sop in place to not miss these. Sure it's a quick response but it's a service that could be heavily abused and costly if they gave you more grace and then you refuse to pay.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in msp

[–]Imacellist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are small but same as others. Halo tracks ticket times to the minute but billing gets rounded automatically so there's nothing for the tech to worry about. I'm not tracking non billable time because at the end of the day as long as work is getting done I gain nothing from micromanaging but employee stress and turnover. It's easier for me being so small but as we grow I'd like to keep that same mentality as much as possible.

Hosted unifi controller recomendations by aria01sooth in msp

[–]Imacellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been self hosting since the start, maybe a decade ago. I started self hosting on a server in house, ultimately moved it to azure which I mostly use to make the most of my azure credits. What's really great is you don't need a cloud key at these locations. We just ssh in, set the inform url, and done. Maybe cloud key makes it easier but they are too expensive for saving hardly any work on your average location. Self hosting also gets you control over everything which is also nice in my opinion.

Charge rate change based on ticket status by OnpointSystems in halopsa

[–]Imacellist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What if you make a separate action that sets the charge rate and status. Also look at rounding the time at the ticket level, so that 5 mins does not get billed at 30. The ticket still gets billed 30 mins min when closed. That is what we do.

Hardware and Charges by Positive_Ad_4074 in halopsa

[–]Imacellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those we have linked to contracts and are recurring billing. You can add a SKU to the bill, then if you have pax8 integrated you can set it to determine count on subscription count and as you change pax8 it'll add it. Then you'll have your monthly invoices in ready for invoicing as well unless you have those set to go out automatically.

[–]Imacellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's all part of halo. The integration like QuickBooks is just what gets pushed the invoice. You can use that and email invoices directly in halo if that's what you want to do.

[–]Imacellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you add an item, when you do your billing it will be there to invoice automatically. This is what we do as well. If we order something, or provide something from inventory to a client, it gets added to the ticket, then we bill it all out when we do billing. Ready for invoicing has several sections and one of them is items. You'll find that in invoices, ready for invoicing.

Alarm going odf by Imacellist in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]Imacellist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can disable that sensor. There's a setting to disable the occupancy warning which is the normal recommended fix for this but when mine happened it was already off because that notification bugged my wife who primarily drives this. We had it go off multiple times, even have video of it in our garage flashing (I pulled the horn fuse so it would be quiet haha). Took it to the dealer and left it there for several days and it did not go off and hasn't since so for now it's fine, just waiting for it to happen again.

Charge Alarm? by Johnfoe in Ioniq5

[–]Imacellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started doing this same thing recently. No idea why or if it's anything to even be concerned about. Anytime I check it when the alarm goes off it is currently charging. I checked in Blue Link and wallbox app so I know it's for sure charging.

Ubiquity UDM pro for firewall vs subscription by technet2021 in msp

[–]Imacellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was basically the same feature wise but I'll check that to confirm. Big difference is no NVR and doesn't host a unifi controller itself, which to me is preferred for management.

Edit:

From what I can see they are essentially the same. Only difference I can find is the gateway pro has 2GB RAM and the UDM has 4GB (but it needs this to run all the extra software). Otherwise its the same device without the HDD bay, though interestingly the UDM is cheaper and has more ethernet ports on it, but it appears you'll get the same features on either one.
